Sushi Go Crafting is a mod in All the Mods 10 8.3, where it is version 0.6.6. A food mod for making Sushi! (Summary from the mod's Modrinth page.)

What is Sushi Go Crafting?

3 parts

Sushi Go Crafting is a food mod about making sushi, and it's a lot more involved than smacking ingredients together. You get a small discovery minigame to find the perfect recipe, and a well-made sushi gives you effects on top of food and saturation. This pack includes version 0.6.5 of the mod.[1][2][3]

It's a good fit if you like cooking and experimenting, or you just want food with real benefits. The sushi types are Maki, Gunkan, California, Nigiri, Onigiri and Temaki.[1]

How it works

Most ingredients have a weight, and many carry an effect or a modifier that changes the effects of other ingredients. When you combine them into a sushi roll, all of those effects stack up. If ingredients refuse to combine, you've probably gone over the max amount.[1][4]

The Roller is your main tool. You pick a sushi type, put ingredients in the right slots, choose how much of each to use, then left click the Roller repeatedly to produce your sushi. A perfect roll gives better food values and effects.[5]

Tip: You don't need to memorize perfect weights. The Roller shows the ones you've already discovered, and the tooltip tells you how far off a roll is.[5]

Your kitchen

  • Cutting Board: place ingredients on it with right click, then chop them with a Cleaver Knife. Sneak + right click removes them.[6]
  • Cooler Box: put weighted ingredients inside and they combine automatically.[7]
  • Rice Cooker: cooks Rice with Water and some fuel, and combines the Cooked Rice in the output for you.[8]

Eating well-made sushi can give you Small Bites (a small chance of not consuming the item), Acquired Taste (extra food) or Steady Hands (extra weight from a cutting board).[9]

Finding ingredients

  • Avocado trees generate in the world, mostly in plains. Right click the leaves to harvest a fully grown avocado.[10]
  • Seaweed generates in the world, and Tuna and Shrimp spawn in the ocean.[1][11]
  • Seeds come from breaking grass. Crops grow normally except Rice, which must be grown underwater on dirt.[12]
  • Nori Sheets come from a Dried Kelp Block, made from ocean Kelp, squished between an Iron Block and a piston.[13]
  • Tobiko drops from killing fish.[14]

Unverified The sources I have show no quests and no ATM Star path involvement for this mod, so its place in the pack's progression is unconfirmed.

How do you get started with Sushi Go Crafting?

6 parts

Sushi Go Crafting is a food mod built around making sushi with a small discovery minigame. Good rolls give you better food values and effects. Here is the order I'd set things up in, and why.[1][5]

Watch out: The pack changes the recipes for the Cleaver Knife, Cutting Board, Roller, Rice Cooker, Cooler Box and Fermentation Barrel. Use the recipe blocks below, not what you remember from the mod's defaults.[15]

First, make your chopping tools

Start with the Cleaver Knife and the Cutting Board. To chop, right click the board to place ingredients on it, then right click them with the knife. Sneak and right click the board to take the ingredients back off.[6][15]

Next, craft the Roller

The Roller is the most important tool for making sushi. You pick the type of sushi, put the ingredients in their slots, choose how much of each to use, then left click the Roller a bunch of times. The tooltip shows how far you are from the perfect weight, and a perfect roll gives better food values and effects. The Roller also shows perfect weights you have already discovered, so you don't have to memorize them.[5]

Get seeds and start farming

You get seeds by breaking grass. Most crops grow like normal crops, but Rice has to be grown underwater on dirt.[12]

This pack also adds Cloche recipes for the mod's crops. Each one takes dirt plus the matching seeds, and the output lists the seeds again alongside the crop. They cover Rice, Cucumber, Sesame Seed, Soy Bean and Wasabi Root.[15]

Cook your rice

The Rice Cooker needs Rice, Water and some fuel. You don't have to worry about weights in the output slot, because the Cooked Rice combines automatically.[8]

Get Nori

Find some Kelp in the oceans and turn it into a Dried Kelp Block. Drop the block as an item and squish it between an Iron Block and a piston to get Nori Sheets.[13]

Automate weights and make sauces

Most ingredients have a weight, and you can combine them in the crafting table. If they won't combine, you've probably gone over the maximum amount. The Cooler Box does the combining for you: place the ingredients inside and they combine automatically.[4][7]

How does Sushi Go Crafting work?

8 parts

Sushi Go Crafting is a food mod built around a small discovery minigame. You combine ingredients into different types of sushi, and every ingredient adds its own effect or modifies the effects of the others. The sushi types are Maki, Gunkan, California, Nigiri, Onigiri and Temaki.[1]

The mod's tools are the Cooler Box, the Cutting Board, the Rice Cooker, the Fermentation Barrel and the Roller. This section walks through them in the order you'll meet them.[5][6][7][8][15]

Ingredients and weights

Ingredients are mostly processed foods, and most of them have a weight. You can combine the weights in a crafting table. If two ingredients refuse to combine, you've probably gone over the maximum amount.[4]

Most ingredients also carry an effect, or an effect modifier that changes the effects of other ingredients.[4]

Cooler Box

The Cooler Box is the automated way to combine weights. Place weighted ingredients inside and they combine on their own. This pack changed the Cooler Box recipe from the mod's default.[4][7][15]

Cutting Board and Cleaver Knife

Chopping is an important cooking step. Right-click the Cutting Board to place ingredients on it, then right-click with a Cleaver Knife to chop them up. To take ingredients back off, Sneak + Right Click the board.[6]

The Steady Hands effect pairs well with the board. Chopping while you have it gives extra weight in your ingredients. The pack changed both the board and knife recipes.[6][9][15][16]

Roller and the perfect weight

The Roller is the most important sushi tool. Experiment with it, because each roll shows in the tooltip how far you are from the perfect weight. A perfect roll gives better food values and effects.[5]

  1. Select the type of sushi you want to make.[5]
  2. Place ingredients in the correct slots.[5]
  3. Select how much of each ingredient you want to use.[5]
  4. Left-click the Roller repeatedly to produce your sushi.[5]
Tip: You don't need to memorize perfect weights. The Roller already shows the ones you've discovered.[5]

Eating effects

Using different ingredient types in a sushi gives different effects. Small Bites gives you a small chance of not consuming the item when you eat. Acquired Taste gives extra food, specifically extra nutrition and saturation.[9][16]

Getting ingredients

You get seeds by breaking grass. Most crops grow like normal crops, but Rice has to be grown underwater on dirt.[12]

The pack also adds Cloche recipes for Cucumber, Rice, Sesame Seed, Soy Bean and Wasabi Root. Each one gives back its seeds along with the crop.[15]

Nori Sheets come from Kelp found in the oceans. Make a Dried Kelp Block from it, drop it as an item, and squish it between an Iron Block and a piston.[13]

Other ingredients come from the world. Avocado trees generate mostly in plains, and you harvest the fruit from the leaves with a right click once it's fully grown. Tuna and Shrimp live in the ocean, and Tobiko drops from killing fish.[1][10][11][14]

How do you progress through Sushi Go Crafting?

4 parts

Unverified No quests in this pack involve this mod, and it is not on the ATM Star quest path. The sections below are not a quest route. They follow the in-pack recipes and the mod's own in-game guide. This site does hold All the Mods 10's own recipes, read from the pack itself: look the item up in the item browser.

Basic tools

Start with the tools. You need a Cutting Board and a Cleaver Knife to chop ingredients: right-click the board to place them, then right-click with the knife. The Roller is what actually makes sushi. The pack changed the recipes for the Cutting Board, the Cleaver Knife and the Roller, so don't rely on the mod defaults.[5][6][15]

Automation and effects

Most ingredients have a weight, and you can combine those weights in the crafting table. The Cooler Box does it automatically: place ingredients inside and they combine. If they won't combine, you have probably gone over the maximum amount. The pack changed its recipe too.[4][7][15]

Once your supply chain is running, start mixing ingredient types. Different ingredients give different effects, and the guide lists Small Bites, Acquired Taste and Steady Hands. Small Bites gives a small chance of not consuming the item when you eat. Acquired Taste gives extra food. Steady Hands gives extra weight in your ingredients when you use a cutting board.[4][9]

Which All the Mods 10 quests use Sushi Go Crafting?

2 parts

Sushi Go Crafting has one quest in the pack, and it sits in the Building Tips chapter, which has 91 quests. The quest is "Sushi Go Crafting" quest, so you don't need to hunt through several chapters for it.[17]

Where it sits in the chapter

The chapter opens with "Building Tips!" quest. From there, "Decoration!" quest comes next, and it leads to "Decor Mods!" quest. The Sushi Go Crafting quest is one of the quests that unlock after Decor Mods.[17]

  1. "Building Tips!" quest is the chapter's starting quest.[17]
  2. "Decoration!" quest follows it.[17]
  3. "Decor Mods!" quest comes after Decoration.[17]
  4. "Sushi Go Crafting" quest comes after Decor Mods.[17]

Decor Mods unlocks a whole group of mod quests, and Sushi Go Crafting is one of them. Others in that group include "Cooking for Blockheads" quest, "Farmer's Delight" quest, "Handcrafted" quest, "Storage Delight" quest, "Macaw's Furniture" quest and "Mr Crayfish's Mods" quest. You can do them in any order.[17]

What the quest says

The quest text says the mod doesn't add many blocks, but the ones it does add are highly recommended for your kitchen. It singles out the Rice Cooker, so you no longer have to use the Microwave for rice.[17]

Kitchen builders may also like the other kitchen quests nearby. "Cooking for Blockheads" quest is about making the kitchen your home, and "Farmer's Delight" quest covers stoves, pots and pans. "Kitchen Set" quest comes later, under the Mr Crayfish quest.[17]

Unverified The quest is an item task, but the exact item it asks you to hand in is not confirmed in the quest data available here.

What changed in Sushi Go Crafting between versions?

1 part

Sushi Go Crafting has been part of All the Mods 10 for a good while. It was already in the pack by version 2.25 or earlier, and All the Mods 10 8.1 ships version 0.6.5 of the mod.[2]

Updates across pack releases

  • All the Mods 10 2.37 updated Sushi Go Crafting from 0.6.3 to 0.6.4.[18]
  • All the Mods 10 4.0 updated Sushi Go Crafting from 0.6.4 to 0.6.5. That is the version you get in 8.1.[2][19]

Unverified The pack changelogs only list the version bumps. What actually changed inside the mod between 0.6.3, 0.6.4 and 0.6.5 (new items, fixes, recipe tweaks) is unverified, because the mod's own changelogs aren't available for the shipped jars.
