What is Rechiseled?

1 part

Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.1 guide

Rechiseled is a decorative building mod. It lets you swap blocks into a huge range of decorative variants, many with connected textures. The mod adds over 600 variants of vanilla blocks, so it's a great pick if you like making your bases look good.[1]

Everything runs through one tool, the Chisel. Right-click with it to open the chiseling screen, where you can put in a block and preview all its variants. You can swap between those variants and their stairs and slabs, and the connecting textures link up across the full block, stairs and slab of a variant.[1][2]

You can also chisel blocks that are already placed. Left-click a block with the chisel to change it to a random variant. If the chisel has a block stored in it, that block acts as a filter, and any left-clicked blocks are transformed to that variant.[1]

Tip: The chisel has no durability, so you can use it as many times as you like. If your blocks aren't connecting, use the toggle button in the bottom right of the chiseling screen to switch between the versions with and without connecting textures.[1][2]

Where it fits in this pack

This pack includes Rechiseled 1.2.5 for NeoForge on Minecraft 1.21. It has been part of the pack since version 2.25 or earlier.[3]

The mod is introduced by the quest "Rechiseled" quest in the Building Tips chapter. It comes after the Changing Blocks quest, and its task is to obtain the chisel. The quest also explains the screen: you pick the design on the left and put blocks in the bottom right. You can preview a design as a single block, a 3x1 row or a 3x3 wall, and you can set the preview to spin or not. Clicking the chisel next to the block slot applies the selected design to every block in your inventory that can be changed.[2]

How do you get started with Rechiseled?

5 parts

Rechiseled is all about one tool: the Chisel. Every block swap in this mod goes through it, so it's the first and only thing you need to craft to get going. With it you can turn vanilla blocks into over 600 decorative variants, many with connected textures.[1][4]

Step 1: Craft the Chisel

Craft the Chisel first. It's cheap to make, and it has no durability, so one chisel lasts you forever.[4][5]

Tip: Crafting the chisel completes the "Rechiseled" quest quest in the Building Tips chapter. That quest comes after Changing Blocks, and its only task is getting the chisel.[4]

Step 2: Learn the Chiseling Screen

Right-click with the chisel to open its screen. Here's how the layout works:[4]

  • The bottom right slot is where you put the blocks you want to change.[4]
  • The left side is where you pick the design you want.[4]
  • Above the block slot you can preview the design as a single block, a 3x1 row or a 3x3 wall. A button lets you set the preview to spin or stay still.[4]
  • Most variants also come as stairs and slabs, and you can get those from the same screen. Connected textures also connect between the full block, stairs and slab of a variant.[1]

Step 3: Convert Blocks in Bulk

Next to the block slot is a chisel button. Click it and the selected design is applied to every block in your inventory that can be changed. Grab a full stack of stone before you open the screen and you can convert a whole build's worth of material in one click.[4]

Watch out: If your blocks aren't connecting when you place them, you probably picked the non-connecting version. Most blocks come in a version with and without connected textures, and you switch between them with the button in the bottom right of the chiseling screen.[1]

Step 4: Chisel Blocks in the World

You don't have to break blocks to restyle them. Left-click a placed block with the chisel and it changes to a random variant. If a block is stored in the chisel, that block acts as a filter, and every block you left-click turns into that exact variant. This is the quickest way to fix up an existing wall or floor.[1]

Bonus: A Pack-Added Polishing Recipe

All the Mods 10 adds an extra way to get one variant. You can polish Basalt Bordered Connecting with Create sandpaper to get Basalt Bordered Polished Connecting. This recipe comes from the pack, not from Rechiseled itself.[5]

Unverified Rechiseled has official addons: one for Create with a Mechanical Chisel for automation, and one for Applied Energistics 2 with a Chiseling Pattern Encoder for autocrafting. None of the sources confirm whether either addon is included in All the Mods 10 5.4.

How does Rechiseled work?

6 parts

Rechiseled is a decoration mod, not a tech mod. It has no power, fluids or multiblocks. Everything revolves around one tool, the Chisel, which swaps blocks between their decorative variants. The mod adds over 600 decorative variants of vanilla blocks, so knowing how the chisel works is really all you need.[1]

Getting your chisel

The chisel is crafted at a normal crafting table. In All the Mods 10 5.4 it still uses the mod's own shaped recipe, so the pack hasn't changed it. Good news: the chisel has no durability, so one chisel lasts you forever.[1][5]

The chiseling screen

Right-click with the chisel in your hand to open the chiseling screen. Put a block in and you get a preview of every variant it can become. You can then swap it into any of those variants, including their stairs and slabs.[1]

Most blocks come in two versions, one with connecting textures and one without. The toggle button in the bottom right of the chiseling screen switches between them. If your blocks aren't connecting when you place them, check this button first.[1]

Chiseling blocks in the world

You don't have to break blocks to restyle them. Left-click a placed block with the chisel and it changes to a random variant.[1]

If a block is stored in the chisel, it works as a filter. Every block you left-click turns into that exact variant. This is the fastest way to restyle a whole wall or floor so it all matches.[1]

Tip: Want a consistent look? Pick your variant in the chiseling screen and leave it stored in the chisel. Then left-click your way across the build instead of placing everything again.[1]

Stairs, slabs and connecting textures

Most of Rechiseled's decorative variants also have stairs and slabs, and you get them through the chiseling screen too. The connecting textures link up across the full block, stairs and slab of the same variant, so mixed shapes still look like one surface.[1]

Pack addition: Create sandpaper polishing

All the Mods 10 5.4 adds a recipe that the base mod doesn't have. Using Create's sandpaper polishing, you can turn Basalt Bordered Connecting into Basalt Bordered Polished Connecting.[5]

Automation

Rechiseled itself has no automation. Automated chiseling comes from official addons. Rechiseled: Create adds a Mechanical Chisel that chisels blocks using Create contraptions. Rechiseled: Applied Energistics 2 adds a Chiseling Pattern Encoder for autocrafting Rechiseled recipes with AE2 storage systems.[1]

Unverified The provided sources don't confirm whether the Rechiseled: Create or Rechiseled: Applied Energistics 2 addons are included in All the Mods 10 5.4. Check your mod list before planning an automated chiseling setup.

How do you progress through Rechiseled?

3 parts

Progression here is short and sweet: everything revolves around one tool, the Chisel. In All the Mods 10 you'll find the mod in the "Building Tips" chapter, where the "Rechiseled" quest quest unlocks after the "Changing Blocks" quest. The only task is getting your hands on a chisel.[4]

Step 1: Craft the chisel

The chisel is a shaped crafting recipe, and it uses the mod's own recipe in this pack. Craft one and the quest is done.[4][5]

Tip: The chisel has no durability, so one is all you'll ever need. No spares, no repairs.[4]

Step 2: Learn the chisel GUI

The whole mod works through the chisel's interface. Right-click with the chisel to open it. Once you know where everything is, you have access to every design.[4]

  1. Put the blocks you want to change in the slot at the bottom right.[4]
  2. Choose a design from the list on the left.[4]
  3. Use the preview above the block slot to see the design as just 1 block, a 3x1 row, or a 3x3 wall. A button lets you turn the preview's spinning on or off.[4]
  4. Click the chisel next to the block slot to apply the selected design to every block in your inventory that can be changed. This is a huge time saver for big builds.[4]

Bonus: Polished basalt borders

The pack also adds an extra recipe outside the chisel. With sandpaper polishing you can turn Basalt Bordered Connecting into Basalt Bordered Polished Connecting. It's a nice option if you're already set up for that kind of processing.[5]

Added by the pack

Unverified The pack's quests and recipes don't show any tiers or upgrades for the chisel beyond this one tool. It's also unconfirmed which blocks can be chiseled in this pack, or whether other Rechiseled blocks have extra pack-added recipes.

How does Rechiseled work with other mods?

1 part

Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.1 guide

The one connection to another mod that this pack's recipes confirm is Create. The Mechanical Chisel comes from the Rechiseled: Create addon, and its in-pack recipe uses items from both Create and Rechiseled.[1][6]

Crafting Shapeless

Recipe id: rechiseledcreate:mechanical_chisel

This is a shapeless recipe, so the ingredients can go anywhere in the crafting grid.

The project page describes the Mechanical Chisel as a way to chisel blocks automatically using contraptions from Create. The same addon also adds 100+ decorative variants for Create blocks.[1]

The regular Chisel works by hand: right-click it to open the chiseling screen, or left-click blocks to swap between their decorative variants. It has no durability, so you can use it as much as you like.[1][2]

What the quest covers

The "Rechiseled" quest quest sits in the Building Tips chapter, right after Changing Blocks. It asks for the chisel and explains how to use the chiseling screen. It doesn't mention any other mod.[2]

Which All the Mods 10 quests use Rechiseled?

1 part

Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.1 guide

Rechiseled only shows up in one place in the quest book: a single quest in the Building Tips chapter. It's short, so this section is too.[2]

Building Tips: Rechiseled

The quest "Rechiseled" quest has one task, which is to obtain the Chisel. It unlocks after the quest called Changing Blocks, so that's the one to finish first.[2]

The quest text describes the mod as a continuation of Chiseled and says everything works through the chisel. Right-click with it to open its GUI.[2]

  • Pick the design on the left side of the GUI.[2]
  • Put your blocks in the slot at the bottom right.[2]
  • Above the block slot, you can preview the design as a single block, a 3x1 row of blocks, or a 3x3 wall of that block.[2]
  • Click the button to make the preview spin or stay still.[2]
  • Click the chisel next to the block slot to apply the selected design to every block in your inventory that can be changed.[2]
Tip: According to the quest text, the chisel has no durability, so you can reskin as many blocks as you like without worrying about it breaking.[2]

What changed in Rechiseled between versions?

In All the Mods 10 5.4, Rechiseled ships as version 1.1.6+a, using the NeoForge build for Minecraft 1.21. The mod has been part of the pack for a good while now: it was first included in All the Mods 10 2.2 or earlier.[7]

Unverified There are no pack changelog entries or mod changelogs available for Rechiseled, so specific changes between pack releases (new blocks, recipe tweaks, fixes or version bumps) can't be confirmed here.
