What is Modern Dynamics?
3 parts
Modern Dynamics is a pipe mod for moving items and fluids around your base. It is inspired by Thermal Dynamics, so if you've used those pipes before, the idea will feel familiar. The pack ships version 0.9.6. The mod's page lists it as a beta, but says it should be safe to use in worlds and that no breaking changes are planned.[1][2]
What you get
- Item pipes and fluid pipes, such as the Fluid Pipe, for carrying items and fluids between inventories and tanks.[1][3]
- An extractor, which you place on an item or fluid pipe so it can pull from adjacent inventories.[1]
- An attractor. On an item pipe it pulls from connected inventories. On a fluid pipe it speeds up how fast fluids are pulled from the network.[1]
- A filter attachment, and an inhibitor. Item pipes normally prefer the closest inventory, and the inhibitor adds 1000 to a connection's length for pathfinding, so pipes avoid that connection when they can.[1]
- A Machine Extender, which sits on top of a machine and gives pipes more room to connect. You can stack them.[1]
- A wrench for configuring pipes. The pipes also work with any standard wrench that uses the c:tools/wrench tag.[1]
- Energy cables that carry EU, available when Modern Industrialization is loaded. They work like that mod's own cables, just with a different look.[1]
Who it's for
It's for you if you want pipes with attachments and filtering that you configure yourself, instead of simple point-to-point transfer. It's also handy when you build around Modern Industrialization machines, since the extender and the EU cables are made for that.[1]
Where it fits in the pack
Modern Dynamics has been in the pack since version 2.2 or earlier. The one quest the sources tie to it is in the xycraft chapter. That quest asks you to have a hydro pump plus a fluid pipe. Any one of several pipes counts, including the Modern Dynamics fluid pipe, so you aren't forced to use this mod for it. See a quest in "?".[2][3]
How do you get started with Modern Dynamics?
5 parts
Modern Dynamics moves items and fluids through pipes, and it also adds EU cables. Most of its core recipes are changed in this pack, so follow the recipe blocks below rather than what you remember from the mod's defaults.[1][4]
Step 1: Make a Wrench
Start with the Wrench. You use it to configure pipes, and the pipes also work with any standard wrench that uses the c:tools/wrench tag. The pack changes this recipe.[1][4]

Step 2: Lay down an Item Pipe and an Extractor
The Item Pipe is the base of your item network. Place an Extractor on a pipe and that pipe can extract from the adjacent inventories. The pack changes both recipes.[1][4]

Step 3: Add a Fluid Pipe
The Fluid Pipe does the same job for liquids, and an Extractor works on it too. The pack changes this recipe as well. This pipe also counts for quest a quest in "?" in the xycraft chapter, which asks for a Hydro Pump plus a fluid pipe. Several other pipe types are accepted for that quest too.[1][3][4]

Step 4: Control the flow
Once the basics work, these attachments give you more control over where things go.[1]
- Filter: another attachment you can press U on in a recipe viewer to see its upgrades. The pack changes its recipe.[4][5]
- Attractor: on an item pipe it pulls from connected inventories. On a fluid pipe it speeds up how fast fluids are pulled through the network.[1][4]
- Inhibitor: item pipes normally prefer the closest inventory. This adds 1000 to the length of that connection for pathfinding, so item pipes avoid it if they can.[1][4]

Last: Machine Extender and cables
The Machine Extender goes on top of a machine and gives pipes more room to connect. Extenders can be stacked. Its recipe is the mod's own and the pack has not changed it.[1][4]

Recipe id: moderndynamics:machine_extender
The pack also has Modern Dynamics EU cables in these tiers: LV EU Cable, MV EU Cable, HV EU Cable, EV EU Cable and Superconductor EU Cable. They carry EU like Modern Industrialization cables, just with a different look. The recipe for each tier is shown below.[1][4]

How does Modern Dynamics work?
6 parts
Modern Dynamics is a pipe mod for moving items and fluids, inspired by Thermal Dynamics. The author says he wanted to try non-instantaneous pipes this time, so items and fluids travel through the network instead of teleporting. The project page lists the mod as Beta and says no breaking changes are planned.[1]
Pipes
The project page describes two transport networks: Item Pipe for items and Fluid Pipe for fluids. In this pack both pipe recipes are changed from the mod's defaults, so don't rely on recipes from other packs or older videos.[1][4]

According to the project page, extraction from adjacent inventories is something you enable by placing an attachment on a pipe. The attachments are covered next.[1]
Attachments
- Extractor: the project page says you place it on an item pipe or a fluid pipe to allow that pipe to extract from adjacent inventories.[1][4]
- Attractor: placed on an item pipe, it allows the pipe to pull from connected inventories. Placed on a fluid pipe, it increases the speed at which the pipe pulls fluids from the network.[1][4]
- Filter: the third attachment type. The project page doesn't describe its behavior in detail.[1][4]
- Inhibitor: item pipes normally prefer the closest inventory. The inhibitor increases the length of a connection by 1000 for pathfinding purposes, which makes item pipes avoid that connection if possible.[1][4]
The recipes for the extractor, attractor, filter and inhibitor are all changed by the pack. Here they are as they work in this pack:[4]

Upgrades and settings
Attractors, extractors and filters accept upgrades. To see which ones fit, press U on an attachment or an upgrade slot in EMI, JEI or REI. The upgrade tooltips cover base fluid transfer, total fluid transfer, item transfer frequency, and an Advanced Behavior toggle.[5]
The attachment settings include the maximum amount extracted per operation and the maximum total number of items in an inventory. The inventory limit is marked as requiring the Advanced Behavior upgrade, so you need that upgrade before you can use it.[5]
Wrench
The project page describes the Wrench as the tool for configuring pipes, and says pipes are also compatible with any standard wrench that uses the c:tools/wrench tag. The pack changes the wrench recipe.[1][4]

Machine Extender
The project page says the Machine Extender can be placed on top of a machine to extend it, giving more space for pipes to connect, and that extenders can be stacked. Its example is a Modern Industrialization Chemical Reactor. The recipe is the mod's own, not changed by the pack.[1][4]

EU cables
The project page says that when Modern Industrialization is loaded, Modern Dynamics adds energy cables that transmit EU, similarly to Modern Industrialization's own cables, just with a different look. The tiers are LV EU Cable, MV EU Cable, HV EU Cable, EV EU Cable and Superconductor EU Cable. Each is made by converting the matching Modern Industrialization cable, and these recipes are unchanged from the mod.[1][4]
Crafting Shapeless
Recipe id: moderndynamics:cable/superconductor_from_mi
Unverified The sources here do not show pipe transfer rates, how much EU each cable tier can carry, or the numeric values of the upgrades, and no config files for this mod were found in the pack. Check the upgrade tooltips in game before you design around specific numbers.
How do you progress through Modern Dynamics?
4 parts
Modern Dynamics progression in this pack is simple: you start with basic pipes and tools, add pipe upgrades for control, then move on to the EU cable tiers. The pack changed most of the basic recipes, so don't rely on what you remember from other packs.[4]
Stage 1: Basic piping
Everything starts with the Item Pipe for moving items and the Fluid Pipe for moving fluids. The pack changed both recipes.[4]

Stage 2: Pipe upgrades and logistics
Once you have plain pipes, the next step is control over what moves and where. The pack changed the recipes for the Extractor, Filter, Inhibitor and Attractor.[4]

The Machine Extender uses the mod's own recipe, not a pack change. It is crafted from both a fluid pipe and an item pipe, so you need both basic pipe types before you can make it.[4]

Stage 3: EU cable tiers
The EU cables go in this order: LV EU Cable, MV EU Cable, HV EU Cable, EV EU Cable and Superconductor EU Cable. In this pack, each one is a shapeless conversion from the matching Modern Industrialization cable. These are the mod's own recipes, not pack changes, so you climb the cable tiers as you climb through Modern Industrialization.[4]

Quests
The one quest that touches this mod is a quest in "?" in the xycraft chapter. It asks for a hydro pump plus any one of several fluid pipes. The Fluid Pipe is one accepted option, alongside pipes from other mods such as Pipez, Mekanism and Immersive Engineering. You can finish it with Modern Dynamics piping, but you aren't forced to.[3]
How does Modern Dynamics work with other mods?
3 parts
The big link in this pack is Modern Industrialization. Modern Dynamics adds its own EU cables, and the pack has crafting recipes that convert them to and from the matching Modern Industrialization cables. So you can run your power lines with either mod's cables and swap between them.[1][4]
Cable conversion
Each Modern Dynamics cable converts to exactly one Modern Industrialization cable, and back again. The pairings are below.[4]
- LV EU Cable pairs with Tin Cable.[4]
- MV EU Cable pairs with Electrum Cable.[4]
- HV EU Cable pairs with Aluminum Cable.[4]
- EV EU Cable pairs with Annealed Copper Cable.[4]
- Superconductor EU Cable pairs with Superconductor Cable.[4]
Going from a Modern Industrialization cable to the Modern Dynamics version is a shapeless crafting recipe, so ingredient placement doesn't matter. Going back is a shaped recipe. Here is every recipe, in both directions.[4]
Tin Cable to LV EU Cable.
LV EU Cable back to Tin Cable.
Electrum Cable to MV EU Cable.
MV EU Cable back to Electrum Cable.
Aluminum Cable to HV EU Cable.
HV EU Cable back to Aluminum Cable.

Superconductor Cable to Superconductor EU Cable.
Superconductor EU Cable back to Superconductor Cable.
The mod's project page describes these cables as transmitting EU much like Modern Industrialization's own cables, just with a different look.[1]
Machine Extender
The project page shows the Machine Extender placed on top of a Modern Industrialization Chemical Reactor. It extends the machine to give you more space for pipes to connect, and extenders can be stacked.[1]
Quest tie-in
Quest a quest in "?" in the xycraft chapter has a task that accepts a fluid pipe. Fluid Pipe is one of the accepted pipes, alongside pipes from Pipez, Mekanism and Immersive Engineering.[3]
Which All the Mods 10 quests use Modern Dynamics?
Modern Dynamics only shows up in one quest in this pack, and it's in the "xycraft" chapter. It's a small appearance, so there's no long questline to follow here.[3]
The quest a quest in "?" has no title in the quest book. It has two tasks: you submit a Hydro Pump from XyCraft Machines, and you also submit a fluid pipe. The pipe task is flexible, so Fluid Pipe counts, but so do pipes from several other mods: Pipez (fluid and universal), Mekanism (basic, advanced, elite and ultimate mechanical pipes) and Immersive Engineering.[3]
In terms of order, this quest comes after the quest with the id 2C7D62231AD6406A in the same chapter, so you need to finish that one first. The sources don't say what that earlier quest asks for, and they don't show any quests that follow this one.[3]
Unverified The rewards for this quest and the contents of the quest it follows aren't shown in the available sources, so they are unconfirmed.
What changed in Modern Dynamics between versions?
Modern Dynamics has been in All the Mods 10 since version 2.2 or earlier, and the pack changelogs only record a couple of version bumps for it. Here's what the sources confirm.[2]
- All the Mods 10 3.2: Modern Dynamics was updated from 0.9.4 to 0.9.5.[6]
- All the Mods 10 4.5: Modern Dynamics was updated from 0.9.5 to 0.9.6. This is the version you get in this guide's pack release.[2][7]
Unverified The pack changelogs only list the version bumps, not what changed inside Modern Dynamics. Any new features, fixes or balance changes in 0.9.5 and 0.9.6 are unconfirmed, and no changelogs for the shipped jars are stored. Check the mod's own release notes if you need the details.
