What is Modern Dynamics?
1 part
Modern Dynamics is a pipe mod for moving items and fluids around your base. It is inspired by Thermal Dynamics, so if you liked those pipes, you'll feel at home. This pack ships version 0.9.2.[1][2]
The project page calls the mod beta and says it should be safe to use in worlds, with no breaking changes planned. That is the mod's general status, so I can't say how it applies to this exact build.[1]
What it gives you
- Item transport pipes and fluid transport pipes. These are non-instantaneous pipes, so items and fluids travel through the network instead of teleporting.[1]
- Attachments. An extractor lets an item or fluid pipe pull from adjacent inventories. An attractor lets an item pipe pull from connected inventories, and on a fluid pipe it speeds up how fast fluids are pulled from the network. A filter does what you'd expect.[1]
- Inhibitors. Item pipes normally prefer the closest inventory. An inhibitor adds 1,000 to the length of a connection for pathfinding, so item pipes avoid that connection if they can.[1]
- The Machine Extender. Place it on top of a machine to give pipes more room to connect. Extenders can be stacked.[1]
- A wrench for configuring pipes. The pipes also work with any wrench that uses the c:tools/wrench tag.[1]
- When Modern Industrialization is loaded, energy cables that carry EU, including LV, MV, HV and Superconductor cables.[1]
Unverified The sources I have don't show this mod on the ATM Star path or in any quest, and they don't say whether Modern Industrialization is installed here, so I can't say where it fits in the pack's progression or whether the EU cables are available.
How do you get started with Modern Dynamics?
7 parts
Modern Dynamics is an item and fluid pipe mod inspired by Thermal Dynamics. In this pack, most of its core recipes have been changed from the mod's defaults, so the recipe blocks below show the real in-pack versions. Here's the order I'd make things in.[1][3]
Item Pipe
Start with the Item Pipe. It's the pipe you use to move items between inventories, and the pack changed its recipe.[1][3]
Crafting Shaped

Recipe id: moderndynamics:item_pipe
Extractor
Place an Extractor on an item or fluid pipe and it can extract from the adjacent inventories. The pack changed this recipe too.[1][3]
Wrench
Make the Wrench early, because it's what you use to configure your pipes. Pipes also work with any wrench that uses the c:tools/wrench tag, so a wrench from another mod can do the job too. The pack changed the Wrench recipe.[1][3]

Fluid Pipe
When you're ready to move liquids, craft the Fluid Pipe. Extractors work on fluid pipes as well as item pipes. This recipe is also changed in the pack.[1][3]
Crafting Shaped

Recipe id: moderndynamics:fluid_pipe
Attractor, Filter and Inhibitor
These attachments fine-tune your network, and the pack changed all three recipes. An Attractor on an item pipe lets it pull from connected inventories. On a fluid pipe, it increases the speed at which fluids are pulled from the network.[1][3]
Crafting Shaped

Recipe id: moderndynamics:attractor
The Filter is the third attachment you can put on your pipes.[1][3]
Item pipes normally prefer the closest inventory. An Inhibitor adds 1000 to the length of a connection for pathfinding purposes, so item pipes avoid that connection if they can.[1][3]

Machine Extender
The Machine Extender goes on top of a machine to give you more space for pipes to connect. You can stack them. Its recipe is the mod's own, not changed by the pack.[1][3]

Recipe id: moderndynamics:machine_extender
EU cables
Because Modern Industrialization is in the pack, you also get Modern Dynamics energy cables. They carry EU like Modern Industrialization's own cables, they just look different. Shapeless recipes convert each matching Modern Industrialization cable into one of these, and they are the mod's own recipes.[1][3]

How does Modern Dynamics work?
6 parts
Modern Dynamics is a pipe mod for moving items and fluids, inspired by Thermal Dynamics. The author says they wrote instantaneous pipes for Modern Industrialization and wanted to try non-instantaneous pipes this time. The project is listed as beta, and the page says it should be safe to use in worlds.[1]
Pipes
There are two pipe types. Item Pipe moves items and Fluid Pipe moves fluids. The pack changed both recipes from the mod's versions, so use the ones below.[1][3]

Recipe id: moderndynamics:fluid_pipe
By default, item pipes prefer the closest inventory when they route items.[1]
Attachments
Place an Extractor on an item or fluid pipe and it can extract from the inventories next to it. The pack changed this recipe.[1][3]
An Attractor on an item pipe lets the pipe pull from connected inventories. On a fluid pipe, it increases the speed at which the pipe pulls fluids from the network. This recipe is also changed by the pack.[1][3]

The Filter is the third attachment. The sources don't describe its settings. Its recipe is changed in the pack.[1][3]
The Inhibitor steers item routing. It adds 1,000 to the length of a connection for pathfinding purposes, so item pipes avoid that connection when they can. The pack changed this recipe too.[1][3]

Upgrades and settings
Attractors, Extractors and Filters can take upgrades. To see which upgrades are available, press U on one of those attachments in EMI, JEI or REI.[4]
Upgrade tooltips can show Base Fluid Transfer, Total Fluid Transfer, Item Transfer Frequency and Advanced Behavior. The attachment settings include the maximum amount extracted per operation and the maximum total number of items in the inventory. Some options show a note that they require the Advanced Behavior upgrade.[4]
Machine Extender
The Machine Extender goes on top of a machine and gives you more space for pipes to connect. Extenders can be stacked. The recipe is the mod's own, not changed by the pack.[1][3]
Crafting Shaped
Recipe id: moderndynamics:machine_extender
Wrench
The Wrench is used to configure pipes. Pipes also work with any standard wrench that carries the c:tools/wrench tag. The pack changed the Wrench recipe.[1][3]

EU cables
When Modern Industrialization is loaded, Modern Dynamics adds energy cables that carry EU like Modern Industrialization's own cables, just with a different look. In this pack the tiers are LV EU Cable, MV EU Cable, HV EU Cable, EV EU Cable and Superconductor EU Cable. The recipes below are mod recipes, not pack changes.[1][3]

How do you progress through Modern Dynamics?
4 parts
Unverified No quests in this pack involve Modern Dynamics, and the mod isn't on the ATM Star quest path. There's no quest-driven progression to follow, so the order below is simply how the in-pack recipes build on each other.
Tier 1: basic transport
Everything starts with Item Pipe for moving items and Fluid Pipe for moving fluids. The pack has changed both recipes from the mod's defaults, so don't rely on what you remember from other modpacks. The Wrench is changed too, and it's the tool you'll want for working with your pipes.[3]

Tier 2: pipe control
Once you have pipes, these upgrades give you control over what goes where. The Extractor pulls things out of an inventory, the Filter limits what passes through, the Attractor and the Inhibitor shape how things flow. The pack has changed all four recipes.[3]

Tier 3: the Machine Extender
The Machine Extender is the step up that builds on both pipe types, so you need to have made an item pipe and a fluid pipe first. Its recipe is the mod's own and the pack hasn't changed it.[3]

EU cable tiers
Modern Dynamics also adds a ladder of EU cables: LV EU Cable, MV EU Cable, HV EU Cable, EV EU Cable and Superconductor EU Cable. In this pack each one is made by converting the matching Modern Industrialization cable, so you progress through these tiers by progressing through Modern Industrialization. These are the mod's own recipes, unchanged by the pack.[3]

How does Modern Dynamics work with other mods?
3 parts
Same as in the All the Mods 10 4.5 guide
The big link in this pack is Modern Industrialization. Modern Dynamics adds its own EU cables, and the pack has crafting recipes that convert them to and from the matching Modern Industrialization cables. So you can run your power lines with either mod's cables and swap between them.[1][5]
Cable conversion
Each Modern Dynamics cable converts to exactly one Modern Industrialization cable, and back again. The pairings are below.[5]
- LV EU Cable pairs with Tin Cable.[5]
- MV EU Cable pairs with Electrum Cable.[5]
- HV EU Cable pairs with Aluminum Cable.[5]
- EV EU Cable pairs with Annealed Copper Cable.[5]
- Superconductor EU Cable pairs with Superconductor Cable.[5]
Going from a Modern Industrialization cable to the Modern Dynamics version is a shapeless crafting recipe, so ingredient placement doesn't matter. Going back is a shaped recipe. Here is every recipe, in both directions.[5]
Tin Cable to LV EU Cable.
LV EU Cable back to Tin Cable.
Electrum Cable to MV EU Cable.
MV EU Cable back to Electrum Cable.
Aluminum Cable to HV EU Cable.
HV EU Cable back to Aluminum Cable.
Annealed Copper Cable to EV EU Cable.

Crafting Shapeless
Recipe id: moderndynamics:cable/superconductor_from_mi
Superconductor Cable to Superconductor EU Cable.
Superconductor EU Cable back to Superconductor Cable.
The mod's project page describes these cables as transmitting EU much like Modern Industrialization's own cables, just with a different look.[1]
Machine Extender
The project page shows the Machine Extender placed on top of a Modern Industrialization Chemical Reactor. It extends the machine to give you more space for pipes to connect, and extenders can be stacked.[1]
Quest tie-in
Quest a quest in "?" in the xycraft chapter has a task that accepts a fluid pipe. Fluid Pipe is one of the accepted pipes, alongside pipes from Pipez, Mekanism and Immersive Engineering.[6]
What changed in Modern Dynamics between versions?
All the Mods 10 1.17a ships Modern Dynamics 0.9.2. The mod has been in the pack since All the Mods 10 0.32 or earlier, so it isn't a recent addition.[2]
The mod's own changelog for 0.9.2 doesn't list changes. It just points to the releases page of the mod's GitHub repository. The 0.9.1-beta changelog does the same, and it also notes that it was a beta release, expected to be mostly stable.[7][8]
Unverified The specific changes in Modern Dynamics 0.9.1-beta and 0.9.2 are not listed in the changelogs available to this guide, and there are no pack changelog entries for this mod, so what changed between pack releases is unverified.
