Farming for Blockheads in All the Mods 10

Farming for Blockheads is built around the Market. The pack's quest text says Markets provide you with a villager who can sell you anything, as long as you have the right amount of emeralds.^[1]

The same quest says the price is usually just 1 Emerald per item, so you can buy farm supplies instead of hunting for them.^[1]

Version in this pack

This pack ships Farming for Blockheads 21.1.13, the NeoForge build for Minecraft 1.21.1. It was first included in pack version 2.25 or earlier.^[2]

Where the quest book puts it

The quest book places the mod in the "Food and Farming" chapter, in the quest "Purchasing Farm Supplies" quest. Its subtitle is "The Villager has more than one way to Spawn", and its task is to have a Market. It comes after the quest "Mary had a Little Lamb".^[1]

The sources here do not show a quest group for it, or any quest that follows it.^[1]

Unverified The sources here do not show whether the ATM Star path uses this mod. The only quest placement they give is the Food and Farming chapter described above.

Welcome to Farming for Blockheads! In this pack, the place to begin is the Market, so that's the first thing you should make.^[1][3]

Craft a Market

The Market gives you a villager who can sell you anything if you have the right amount of emeralds. The quest "Purchasing Farm Supplies" quest says it's usually just 1 Emerald per item. In the Food and Farming chapter, that quest comes after "Mary had a Little Lamb", and its task is to have a Market.^[1]

Get your fertilizers

Fertilizer is the next step. Green Fertilizer increases crop output, and the mod has a setting for the chance of a bonus crop when you use it. Red Fertilizer has a setting for the chance of a bonus growth instead. Fertilized Farmland can also turn back into regular Farmland, with a chance set per bonus provided.^[4]

The pack changed the crafting recipes for Green and Red Fertilizer, and it changed the Market entries for Green, Red and Yellow Fertilizer. The Yellow Fertilizer crafting recipe is the mod's own. So don't rely on what you remember from other packs, and use the in-pack recipes below.^[3]

The parts of Farming for Blockheads that the sources describe are single blocks and items: a block that collects eggs, a block that feeds animals, fertilizers that boost farmland, and the Market for trading. The sources say nothing about power, fluids or multiblocks, so this section sticks to what they do cover. They also give no default values for the options below, so I won't quote any.^[3][4]

Chicken Nest

The Chicken Nest collects eggs laid by chickens. It picks up laid eggs within a set range, and the chickenNestRange option controls that range.^[3][4]

• The feedingTroughRange option sets the range within which animals can be fed.^[4]
• The feedingTroughMaxAnimals option sets the maximum number of animals, counted per type, until the trough stops feeding.^[4]

Fertilizers

Fertilizers give chance-based bonuses, and the results are tuned through a few options. Fertilized Farmland can also turn back into regular Farmland, so it is not a permanent upgrade.^[4]

• Green Fertilizer increases crop output. The fertilizerBonusCropChance option sets the chance to get a bonus crop.^[4]
• Red Fertilizer gives a chance of a bonus growth, set by the fertilizerBonusGrowthChance option.^[4]
• Per provided bonus, there is a chance that Fertilized Farmland turns back into regular Farmland. The fertilizerRegressionChance option sets that chance.^[4]

The pack changed the crafting recipes for Green and Red Fertilizer, so don't assume the mod's defaults apply. Yellow Fertilizer keeps the mod's own crafting recipe.^[3]

The Market

What the Market sells is controlled by groups. The includedGroups option enables groups, and the 'default' alias covers the built-in selling.seeds, selling.saplings and selling.fertilizers.minecraft groups. The excludedGroups option disables groups and has precedence over includedGroups, so adding 'selling.seeds' there would remove every seed from the market.^[3][4]

The mod also has preset options: disabledDefaultPresets turns off default presets, and enabledOptionalPresets turns on optional ones. The merchantNames option lists the names a merchant can have. The treatMerchantsLikeBabies option makes merchants count as babies on a technical level only, which may resolve exploits based on merchant death loot.^[4]

The pack also defines Market entries for Green, Red and Yellow Fertilizer, and it changed each of them. The recipe data lists no item inputs for these entries, so I can't tell you what they cost.^[3]

Unverified No config files for this mod were available for the pack, so the actual values of the range, chance and group options described here are not shown in the sources available to this guide.

Farming for Blockheads has no formal tier ladder in this pack's quests or recipes. What they do show is a sensible order to work in: start with the Market, add animal supplies, then move on to fertilizers.^[1][3]

First: get a Market

The pack's quest for this mod is "Purchasing Farm Supplies" quest, in the Food and Farming chapter. It comes after the quest Mary had a Little Lamb, and its task is to obtain a Market. The quest text says a Market gives you a villager who can sell you anything for emeralds, and that it's usually just 1 Emerald per item.^[1]

Next: animal supplies

Once you have livestock, the Chicken Nest and the Feeding Trough are the crafted blocks to add. Both use the mod's own recipes in this pack. No quest in the sources covers them.^[3]

Then: fertilizers

The mod's fertilizers are Green Fertilizer, Red Fertilizer and Yellow Fertilizer. The pack has changed the green and red crafting recipes, so don't rely on the mod's defaults for those. The yellow crafting recipe is the mod's own.^[3]

You can also get each of these fertilizers from the Market. The pack has changed every one of those Market offers as well, so check the offers in your own Market rather than assuming the mod's defaults.^[3]

In this pack, Farming for Blockheads shows up in one quest, in the Food and Farming chapter. It's a short stop, but it points you at one of the mod's handiest blocks.^[1]

Purchasing Farm Supplies

The quest "Purchasing Farm Supplies" quest asks you to obtain the Market. It unlocks after the quest "Mary had a Little Lamb", so you'll work through that one first.^[1]

The quest text says the Market gives you a villager who can sell you just about anything, as long as you have the right amount of emeralds. It's usually just 1 emerald per item, which makes it a cheap way to pick up farm supplies. The quest's subtitle also hints that the villager has more than one way to spawn.^[1]

Unverified The sources don't say what this quest rewards, or whether any other chapters ask for items from this mod.

All the Mods 10 8.1 ships Farming for Blockheads 21.1.13 (the NeoForge 1.21.1 build). The mod was already in the pack by All the Mods 10 2.25 or earlier, and it has been bumped several times since then.^[2]
