What is Extra Disks?
2 parts
Extra Disks is an add-on for Refined Storage. It adds much bigger item disks and fluid disks, so your storage network doesn't run out of room.[1]
The mod's own description says each of its disks can hold an infinite amount of items or fluids, with the matching disk type for each. Its joke is that this should be enough for water and cobblestone.[1]
Who it's for
It's for you if you already run a Refined Storage network and are tired of juggling capacity. It doesn't replace Refined Storage. It adds disks that work inside a network you've already built.[1]
In this pack
The pack ships Extra Disks 1.21.1-4.0.13. The mod has been in the pack since version 2.43 or earlier, so it's a long-standing part of the modpack's storage options.[2]
Unverified Where Extra Disks fits in the pack's progression, including any ATM Star path, is not confirmed by the available sources. I have no confirmed in-pack recipes, quests or configs for it, so check the recipe viewer in-game before planning around it. This site does hold All the Mods 10's own recipes, read from the pack itself: look the item up in the item browser.
How do you get started with Extra Disks?
4 parts
Extra Disks is an add-on for Refined Storage that adds much bigger item and fluid disks. In this pack it also has chemical disks. The recipes build on Refined Storage parts, so get your Refined Storage setup going first and then come back for the bigger disks.[1][3][4]
First: the Advanced Storage Housing
Start with the Advanced Storage Housing. It is the base for the shapeless route to the 1024k disk, so it's worth having before anything else.[4]

Next: your first disk
Item disks come in sizes from 256k Storage Disk and 1024k Storage Disk up through 4096k Storage Disk to 1048m Storage Disk. Start with the 256k disk. Each disk recipe takes the matching Refined Storage storage part of the same size, so make that part first.[4]

The 1024k disk also has a shapeless recipe. If you already made the housing, this is the quick way to get it: just the housing plus the matching 1024k part.[4]

Then: Advanced Machine Casing and storage blocks
Once you want your storage as a block rather than a disk, you need the Advanced Machine Casing. The storage block recipes in this pack all use it.[4]

Recipe id: extradisks:advanced_machine_casing
With the casing in hand you can make blocks such as the 256k Storage Block. Like the disks, each block takes the matching storage part.[4]

Fluid and chemical disks
Fluid disks follow the same pattern as item disks. They run from the 16384B Fluid Storage Disk up to the 1048kB Fluid Storage Disk.[4]
Chemical disks run from 65536B Chemical Storage Disk up to 8388kB Chemical Storage Disk. The pack changed the chemical disk and chemical block recipes, so they don't match the fluid and item ones. They use osmium ingots instead of the processors. Check the recipe before you plan your materials.[3][4]

How does Extra Disks work?
4 parts
Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.1 guide
Extra Disks doesn't add machines, multiblocks or its own power system. It's an add-on for Refined Storage that adds much bigger item and fluid disks. In this pack it also has chemical disks, so everything you do with it happens inside your existing Refined Storage network.[1][3]
The mod's project page says each of its item and fluid disks can store an infinite amount of the corresponding thing, so a single disk is enough for something like water or cobblestone.[1]
Parts, disks and storage blocks
Each chemical size comes as a storage part, a storage disk and a storage block. You can see this with the 65536B, 262kB, 1048kB and 8388kB sizes. There is also an Infinite Chemical Storage Part, Disk and Block.[3]
Each size has its own part, disk and block tags. That's how recipes ask for "any part of this size" instead of one specific item.[3][5]
Which sizes exist
- Item storage blocks: 256k Storage Block, 1024k Storage Block, 4096k Storage Block, 16384k Storage Block, 65536k Storage Block, 262m Storage Block and 1048m Storage Block.[5]
- Fluid storage blocks: 16384B Fluid Storage Block, 65536B Fluid Storage Block, 262kB Fluid Storage Block and 1048kB Fluid Storage Block.[5]
- Chemical storage blocks: 65536B Chemical Storage Block, 262kB Chemical Storage Block, 1048kB Chemical Storage Block and 8388kB Chemical Storage Block, plus the Infinite Chemical Storage Block.[3][5]

What the pack changed
The chemical storage block recipes for 65536B, 262kB, 1048kB and 8388kB are marked as changed by the pack. The item and fluid block recipes shown in the sources are unchanged mod recipes, so don't assume the chemical ones match them.[5]

How do you progress through Extra Disks?
5 parts
Extra Disks adds bigger storage disks and storage blocks that are crafted from Refined Storage parts and processors. Your progression is simply climbing the storage tiers, so this page follows the in-pack recipes.[4]
Unverified The sources here show no quest that covers Extra Disks, so there is no quest chapter to point you to. The tier order below comes from the recipes alone.
The storage families
Disks come in item, fluid and chemical families. Each tier has a disk and a matching storage block.[4]
- Item disks go up through 256k Storage Disk, 1024k Storage Disk, 4096k Storage Disk, 16384k Storage Disk, 65536k Storage Disk, 262m Storage Disk and 1048m Storage Disk.[4]
- Fluid disks run from 16384B Fluid Storage Disk through 65536B Fluid Storage Disk and 262kB Fluid Storage Disk up to 1048kB Fluid Storage Disk.[4]
- Chemical disks run from 65536B Chemical Storage Disk through 262kB Chemical Storage Disk and 1048kB Chemical Storage Disk up to 8388kB Chemical Storage Disk.[4]
Parts come first
Every disk and block recipe asks for a storage part of its own tier. The part recipe shown in the sources builds the 1024k part from a 256k part, so tiers build on the one below.[4]

Recipe id: extradisks:part/1024k_item_storage_part

From part to disk
Each disk has a shaped recipe and a shapeless recipe. The shaped one turns the part into a disk directly. The shapeless one combines the part with an Advanced Storage Housing. Both give the same disk.[4]

Chemical tiers differ in this pack
The chemical disk and block recipes are marked as changed by the pack, and their shaped recipes use osmium ingots. The item and fluid recipes do not. The shapeless chemical disk recipes are also changed by the pack. Don't assume the chemical tiers match the usual mod recipes.[4]

How does Extra Disks work with other mods?
4 parts
Extra Disks is an add-on for Refined Storage, so almost everything it adds is built from Refined Storage items. In this pack it also reaches into Mekanism for its chemical disks. All of this comes from the crafting recipes.[1][4]
Refined Storage
Both base materials of the mod lean on Refined Storage processors. Advanced Machine Casing needs Advanced Processor, Improved Processor, Construction Core, Destruction Core and a Machine Casing. Advanced Storage Housing needs both processors plus Quartz Enriched Iron and a glass block.[4]

The item and fluid disks follow the same pattern. Each one uses the Refined Storage Advanced and Improved Processors, Quartz Enriched Iron, a glass block and a storage part of the matching size. The 1024k item disk is a good example.[4]
Crafting Shaped

The part chain starts in Refined Storage too. The 256k Storage Part steps up from the 64k Storage Part, and the 16384B Fluid Storage Part steps up from the 4096B Fluid Storage Part. The top tiers swap the Advanced Processor for a Withering Processor.[4]

Upgrading your old storage
The upgrade recipes accept Refined Storage storage, so you can fold your old setup into the new tiers. Your 1k Storage Disk, 4k Storage Disk, 16k Storage Disk and 64k Storage Disk all go into the 1024k disk upgrade below, together with the 1024k Storage Part. The block version works the same way with the matching storage blocks.[4]
Upgrade Recipe (extradisks)
Recipe id: extradisks:storage_upgrade/1024k_item_storage_disk_upgrade
Fluid upgrades work the same way. The 1048kB fluid disk upgrade takes the Refined Storage fluid disks from 64B up to 4096B, along with the Extra Disks fluid disks in between.[4]

Mekanism chemical storage
Chemical disks are where Mekanism comes in, and the pack has changed these recipes. The 65536B, 262kB, 1048kB and 8388kB chemical disks all use Quartz Enriched Iron, a glass block, an osmium ingot and a chemical storage part of the matching size.[4]

The chemical parts are also pack-changed. They all use Atomic Alloy and an osmium ingot, and all but the top one add an Advanced Processor. The 65536B Chemical Storage Part also uses an 8192B Chemical Storage Part, which comes from the Refined Storage Mekanism Integration add-on.[4]

The Withering Processor
The top tiers need a Withering Processor. That includes the 1048m item part, the 1048kB fluid part and the 8388kB chemical part. The pack changed the recipe for the Raw Withering Processor: it is shapeless and built around a Processor Binding, as shown below.[4]

What changed in Extra Disks between versions?
Extra Disks has been bumped only a handful of times in All the Mods 10. Here is the trail from the pack changelogs, so you can see where your version came from.[6][7][8]
- All the Mods 10 2.43: Extra Disks was added to the pack at version 1.21.1-4.0.9.[8]
- All the Mods 10 2.47: updated from 1.21.1-4.0.9 to 1.21.1-4.0.11.[7]
- All the Mods 10 4.5: updated from 1.21.1-4.0.11 to 1.21.1-4.0.13.[6]
All the Mods 10 4.10 ships Extra Disks 1.21.1-4.0.13, which is the version that 4.5 updated the mod to.[2][6]
Unverified What actually changed inside Extra Disks between 4.0.9, 4.0.11 and 4.0.13 (new disks, fixes, balance tweaks) is unverified. The pack changelogs only record the version bumps, and no changelogs for the shipped jars are available here.
