What is Compact Machines?
Same as in the FTB Skies 2 1.23.0 guide
Compact Machines is part of the pack's mod list. This pack ships version 7.0.81, the NeoForge build (compactmachines-neoforge-7.0.81.jar).[1]
It isn't a new addition. The mod was already in the pack as of version 1.0.1 or earlier, so it has been around for a long time.[1]
I don't have enough information to describe the mod's items, recipes or mechanics as they work in this pack, so I'm leaving those out rather than guessing. Check back for the sections that cover them once they're confirmed.[1]
How do you get started with Compact Machines?
4 parts
Same as in the All the Mods 10 4.5 guide
Compact Machines lets you craft a machine, place it in the world, and then step inside it to reach a pocket dimension. You get in with the Personal Shrinking Device. The order below takes you from nothing to your first room.[2]
Step one: make the two modules
Start with the Atom Shrinking Module and the Atom Enlarging Module. They come first because the pack's machine recipes and the Personal Shrinking Device recipe all use both of them.[3]

Step two: craft a wall
The Compact Machine Wall is the other shared ingredient. Every machine recipe in the pack needs one, along with the shrinking and enlarging modules.[3]
Step three: craft your first machine
In this pack the machine recipes are added by the pack. There are recipes for tiny, small, normal, large, giant and colossal, plus farming and soaryn variants. Each recipe's result is listed as the New Machine item.[3]

Once it is crafted, place the machine in the world. Machines are used to make pocket dimensions, and you enter one with the Personal Shrinking Device.[2]
Last step: get the Personal Shrinking Device
The Personal Shrinking Device (PSD) is how you actually go inside. Use it on a placed machine to enter the compact space. Its recipe uses both modules, so you already have the main parts.[2][3]

The pack's quest book covers this too. In the building_tips chapter, quest a quest in "?" is completed by obtaining the Personal Shrinking Device.[4]
How does Compact Machines work?
3 parts
Same as in the All the Mods 10 4.5 guide
Compact Machines is all about pocket dimensions. You craft a machine, place it in the world, and then step inside it with the Personal Shrinking Device. The room you enter is your own compact space.[2]
Getting inside a machine
- Craft a machine and place it in the world.[2]
- Use the Personal Shrinking Device (PSD) on the placed machine to enter the compact space.[2]
The mod also shows you where you are. Each placed machine is bound to a room of a particular size at a particular position, and the mod can tell you which player is inside which room. Room templates can also generate structures when a room is created, and their tooltip tells you so. Holding shift on a tooltip shows extra details.[2]
The mod has two advancements about this. One is for getting a Personal Shrinking Device. The other, "how did you get here", asks which machine the player is in.[2]
Crafting the building blocks
Everything starts with a few components: the Compact Machine Wall, the Atom Shrinking Module and the Atom Enlarging Module. The recipes below show how each one is made.[3]

Machine recipes in this pack
The pack adds its own recipe for each machine variant: tiny, small, normal, large, giant, colossal, soaryn and farming. Each recipe produces the New Machine item. Each one uses the wall and both modules, plus one extra ingredient that differs from recipe to recipe. These recipes are marked as added by the pack, so don't assume they match the mod's defaults.[3]

How do you progress through Compact Machines?
3 parts
Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.1 guide
Compact Machines lets you enter a tiny pocket dimension from a placed machine. In this pack, the path starts with the quest a quest in "?", which sits in the Building Tips chapter right after the Paxel quest. Its task is to get a Personal Shrinking Device.[5]
First: the Personal Shrinking Device
The Personal Shrinking Device is your key to every machine. After you place a Compact Machine, you use the device to enter it, and you right click with it to get back out. The quest also warns that you can't break a machine's walls.[5]
The device needs both an Atom Enlarging Module and a Atom Shrinking Module. The recipes for the device and both modules are the mod's own, so the pack hasn't changed them.[6]

Next: Compact Machine Walls
Every machine tier uses the Compact Machine Wall. Its recipe is the mod's own, not a pack change.[6]
Then: pick your machine tier
The pack adds its own recipe for each machine tier, and each one produces New Machine. Every tier recipe uses the same base: an enlarging module, a shrinking module and a wall. What sets the tier apart is the one extra item in the recipe. The quest says the machine's size depends on the recipe and ranges from 5x5x5 to 45x45x45.[5][6]
The tier recipes are named tiny, small, normal, large, giant, colossal, farming and soaryn. The renders below show the exact in-pack recipe for each one.[6]

What changed in Compact Machines between versions?
1 part
Compact Machines has been part of All the Mods 10 for a good while now. It was first included in version 2.21 or earlier, so if you've been playing the pack since those early releases, you've probably had access to it the whole time.[7]
Pack releases
- All the Mods 10 2.28: Compact Machines was updated from 7.0.14 to 7.0.22.[8]
- All the Mods 10 2.36: the pack ships Compact Machines 7.0.22, the NeoForge build of the mod.[7]
That means the version you're running in 2.36 is the same one that arrived with the 2.28 update. If you've been playing since 2.28, the mod version hasn't changed since then.[7][8]
Unverified What actually changed inside the mod between 7.0.14 and 7.0.22, such as bug fixes, new features or balance tweaks, can't be confirmed here, because the mod's own changelogs for these versions aren't available. Check the mod's release notes if you need the details.
