What is Ars Additions?
3 parts
Ars Additions is an Ars Nouveau addon built around small tweaks and quality-of-life extras. It isn't a big progression mod. Think of it as a toolbox that makes your Ars Nouveau base easier to get around, automate and decorate. This pack ships version 1.21.1-21.1.5.[1][2]
What you get
- Structures: Ruined Warp Portals, which include an Explorer's Warp Scroll to help you find new places, and the Nexus Tower, a wizard tower for easier teleporting around your world.[1]
- Glyphs: Retaliate targets whatever last hit you within the last 5 seconds. Mark and Recall work with the Unstable Reliquary, so you can store a block or entity and cast a spell on it later.[1]
- Storage and Source: the Warp Index gives remote access to your Storage Lecterns, and the upgraded versions work across dimensions. The Ender Source Jar acts like an Ender Chest for Source.[1]
- Automation: use a Wixie Charm on an Enchanting Apparatus to turn it into a Wixie Enchanting Apparatus. It can automate Enchanting Apparatus recipes, including applying enchantments.[1]
- Decoration: Ars-themed lanterns and matching chains, Sourcestone walls, Cracked Sourcestone and the Snoozebuncle painting.[1]
Magelight lanterns
The lanterns are the part you'll see most in this pack. They are hollowed lanterns with Magelights inside, and they come in six styles: Magelight Lantern, Soul Magelight Lantern, Golden Magelight Lantern, Archwood Magelight Lantern, Sourcestone Magelight Lantern and Polished Sourcestone Magelight Lantern.[1]
They also show up in the quest book. In the building tips chapter, quest a quest in "?" is completed by getting the Light glyph or any one of these six lanterns.[3]
Where it fits
Most of the mod is convenience and decoration, so you can pick up its features as your Ars Nouveau setup grows. The sources give no pack-specific changes to its recipes or configs.[1][2]
Unverified Some features are limited by default in the mod itself: the Ritual of Arcane Permanent chunkloader is disabled by default, and higher-tier Codex Entries are unobtainable by default. The sources don't show whether this pack changes either. Nothing in them places this mod on the ATM Star path.
How do you get started with Ars Additions?
5 parts
Ars Additions is an Ars Nouveau addon focused on small tweaks and quality of life additions. Your first steps here are a few simple crafts. Several of the recipes below were changed by the pack, so follow the recipe blocks rather than anything you remember from the mod's defaults.[1][4]
Step one: make a Magelight Lantern
Start with Magelight Lantern. It's a hollowed lantern with a Magelight inside. The pack's quest book has a quest for it in the building_tips chapter (a quest in "?"), which comes after a quest in "?". The quest accepts the Light glyph or any of the magelight lantern variants.[1][3]

Magelight lanterns also come in Golden, Archwood, Sourcestone, Polished Sourcestone and Soul versions. The pack changed the recipes for the Golden, Archwood, Sourcestone and Soul ones. The Polished Sourcestone version is made from the Sourcestone one with a mod recipe.[1][4]
Step two: craft the Handy Haversack
The Handy Haversack is a storage item: you click items into it, or click it onto items. The pack has its own recipe for it.[4][5]

Step three: get a Wayfinder
The Wayfinder also has a pack-changed recipe. It is an ingredient in the Locate Structure ritual, which locates a nearby structure based on the augments.[4][5]

Step four: pick your first charms
Charms are made with the Enchanting Apparatus. Good early picks are the Charm of Darkvision, which enables Night Vision in low-light environments, and the Charm of Featherlight, which grants feather fall once you fall further than 3 blocks.[4][5]

Later upgrades
When you're further along, the Stabilized Warp Index is the upgraded Warp Index. The Warp Index gives remote access to your Storage Lecterns, and the upgraded versions allow cross-dimensional access. The pack changed the Stabilized recipe.[1][4]

How does Ars Additions work?
6 parts
Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.1 guide
Ars Additions is an Ars Nouveau addon built around small tweaks and quality-of-life features, so you won't find big machines or multiblocks here. What it does add is a handful of systems for storing, moving and automating things with Source. Here's how each one works, as far as the sources explain it.[1]
Mark, Recall and the Reliquary
The Mark glyph is an Effect that stores a reference to a block or entity inside a Reliquary. To bind one, hold the Reliquary in your offhand and cast a spell with Mark. The Recall glyph is a Form that reads that stored target and casts the spell on it. The Reliquary can also show a broken tether in its tooltip.[1][6]
Retaliate is a Form that applies your spell to the last entity that dealt damage to you. The hit has to be within the last 5 seconds.[1][6]
Source and storage
- Ender Source Jar: this works like an Ender Chest for Source. Place one in your base to fill it with Source, then carry another to reach that Source anywhere.[1]
- Warp Index: gives you remote access to your Storage Lecterns. The upgraded (Stabilized) version adds cross-dimensional access. Its tooltip shows the coordinates and dimension it's bound to, and you open it with a keybind.[1][6]
- Handy Haversack: its tooltip says to click items into the Haversack, or click the Haversack onto items.[6]
Automation
Use a Wixie Charm on an Enchanting Apparatus to turn it into a Wixie Enchanting Apparatus. It can automate Enchanting Apparatus recipes, including applying enchantments.[1]
The Wixie Cauldron also has a tooltip that reads "Output storage bound". The sources don't explain how that binding works, so check it in-game.[6]
Rituals and exploration
The Ritual of Arcane Permanence force-loads the chunks around it, and it needs a constant stream of Source to keep running. Another ritual locates a nearby structure based on the augments you give it.[6]
Ruined Warp Portals come with an Explorer's Warp Scroll. Throw it into the frame of a ruined warp portal, or press its keybind, to teleport. The tooltip shows whether it is still locating a structure, has located one, or failed to find one nearby.[1][6]
Unverified The mod's own description says the chunk-loading ritual is fully configurable and disabled by default. No config files for this mod were available for this pack, so whether it is enabled here, and what its limits are, is unverified.
Charms and perks
Ars Additions adds a set of charms that give passive protection. The Fall Prevention Charm grants feather fall when you fall further than 3 blocks. The Undying Charm lets you keep going after fatal damage. The Void Protection Charm teleports you back to the last safe space you were on. Charm tooltips can also show a charging progress.[6]
The Thread Reach perk increases your entity and block interaction distances by 1 for each level.[6]
What the pack changes
The pack changes the crafting recipes for the mod's chains and for most of its lanterns, including the Magelight variants. Don't rely on the mod's default recipes for these. Here is the in-pack recipe for the Magelight Lantern.[7]

Unverified The pack has shapeless "clear" recipes for the Handy Haversack, the Advanced Dominion Wand and the Jar of Miner's Wisdom. The sources don't say what they do, so their exact effect is unverified.
How do you progress through Ars Additions?
5 parts
Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.1 guide
Ars Additions isn't on the ATM Star quest path, and the pack only has two quests that touch it. The mod has no formal tier system in the sources I have, so this page follows what the pack gives you: the quests, plus which recipes the pack changed. It works as a rough ladder from early lighting to endgame Enchanting Apparatus crafts.[7][8][9]
Early: Magelight lanterns and Sourcestone building
Your first contact is the Building Tips quest a quest in "?". It introduces Magelights, which are light sources of pure magic. You can place them with spells, or craft a Magelight Lantern and place that instead. The quest accepts the Light glyph or any of the lantern variants: Magelight Lantern, Golden Magelight Lantern, Sourcestone Magelight Lantern, Polished Sourcestone Magelight Lantern, Archwood Magelight Lantern and Soul Magelight Lantern.[9]
The pack changed the base Magelight Lantern recipe, so don't rely on the mod's defaults. Here is the in-pack version:[7]

The pack also changed the recipes for the Golden, Archwood, Soul and Sourcestone Magelight Lanterns. The plain lanterns and the chains (Golden, Archwood and Sourcestone) got the same treatment.[7]
If you want the polished look, the pack adds a Create sandpaper polishing recipe that turns a Sourcestone Magelight Lantern into the polished version. Here it is:[7]
The rest of the Sourcestone set, such as doors, trapdoors, buttons and walls, uses the mod's own recipes. The cracked variants come from the stonecutter. They are pure building blocks, so you can pick them up whenever you like.[7]
Mid game: utility items the pack adjusted
Three utility items have pack-modified recipes. The Handy Haversack and the Wayfinder are both crafted at a regular crafting table.[7]

The Advanced Dominion Wand is an Enchanting Apparatus upgrade of the standard Dominion Wand, and the pack changed its recipe as well. The Jar of Miner's Wisdom is also made at the Enchanting Apparatus with a pack-modified recipe.[7]

Spawners, the one other quest
The Apothic Spawners chapter has the a quest in "?" quest for the Source Spawner. It uses Source as fuel. To pick which mob it spawns, you need a Containment Jar holding that mob in the area. The Source Spawner is crafted at the Enchanting Apparatus with the mod's own recipe, unchanged by the pack.[7][8]

Late game: Warp Index and Stabilized Warp Index
The Warp Index is an Enchanting Apparatus craft that uses the mod's recipe. Its upgrade, the Stabilized Warp Index, is crafted from the Warp Index and is the one the pack changed. It's the most demanding Ars Additions item in the recipes I can see.[7]

Charms and rituals
The charms, such as Charm of Second Wind, Charm of Darkvision and Charm of Ocean's Breath, are all Enchanting Apparatus recipes that use the mod's defaults. The Locate Structure ritual is a crafting recipe built on the Wayfinder, also unchanged from the mod.[7]

How does Ars Additions work with other mods?
5 parts
Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.1 guide
Ars Additions is an addon for Ars Nouveau, so in this pack nearly every connection to another mod runs through Ars Nouveau. The recipes below are the ones that mix items from both mods. Vanilla Minecraft items and shared item tags also show up in a few of them.[1][7]
Enchanting Apparatus crafts
Many of the mod's functional items are made at Ars Nouveau's Enchanting Apparatus, and each one uses Ars Nouveau items as ingredients. That includes the Ender Source Jar, the Source Spawner, the Warp Index, the Unstable Reliquary, the Reach and the Charm of Void's Salvation.[7]
Enchanting Apparatus (ars_nouveau)

Recipe id: ars_additions:apparatus/source_spawner
The quest a quest in "?" in the Apothic Spawners chapter covers the Source Spawner. It uses Source as fuel, and you need a Containment Jar holding the mob in the area so the spawner knows what to spawn.[8]
Recipes the pack changed
Two Enchanting Apparatus recipes are marked as changed by the pack, so they differ from the mod's own versions: the Advanced Dominion Wand and the Jar of Miner's Wisdom.[7]

The pack also changed the crafting recipes for the Archwood Chain, the Sourcestone Chain and the lanterns covered in the next section. The sources here do not show what the mod's original versions looked like, so use the recipe blocks for the in-pack versions.[7]

Magelight lanterns
The Magelight lanterns are hollowed lanterns that contain Ars Nouveau's Magelights, and their in-pack recipes use Ars Nouveau items. They come in several casings: Magelight Lantern, Golden Magelight Lantern, Sourcestone Magelight Lantern, Archwood Magelight Lantern and Soul Magelight Lantern.[1][7]
Crafting Shaped

Recipe id: ars_additions:crafting/lanterns/magelight_lantern
The quest a quest in "?" in the Building Tips chapter ties this together. You can place Magelights with spells, or craft a Magelight Lantern and place that instead. Any one of the Magelight lanterns completes the task.[9]
Glyphs
The Glyph Mark and Glyph Recall are crafted with Ars Nouveau's glyph recipe type. Mark is an Effect that stores a reference to a target block or entity inside a Reliquary, and Recall is a Form that uses a reference from a Reliquary to cast a spell on that target. The Unstable Reliquary is the item you use with them.[1][7]
Sourcestone building blocks
Ars Additions builds its decorative blocks on Ars Nouveau's Sourcestone and Smooth Sourcestone. Doors, trapdoors, walls and buttons are crafted from them, and stonecutting converts between the stones and these blocks. The cracked variants are stonecut from Sourcestone, and you can craft any cracked block back into plain Sourcestone.[7]
Crafting Shaped
6 × Sourcestone
Recipe id: ars_additions:crafting/walls/sourcestone_wall
The Magebloom Carpet follows the same pattern, as it is crafted from Ars Nouveau's Magebloom Block.[7]
Which All the Mods 10 quests use Ars Additions?
Ars Additions only shows up in one quest in the pack, and it sits in the building_tips chapter. It's a small one, so there's no long questline to work through.[3]
The quest is a quest in "?", and it unlocks after you finish a quest in "?". The quest has no title of its own in the pack files.[3]
The task is an item check, and the list of accepted items is a mix of Ars Nouveau and Ars Additions. You can hand in any of these:[3]
- Glyph Light, the Ars Nouveau glyph[3]
- Magelight Lantern[3]
- Golden Magelight Lantern[3]
- Sourcestone Magelight Lantern[3]
- Polished Sourcestone Magelight Lantern[3]
- Archwood Magelight Lantern[3]
- Soul Magelight Lantern[3]
So you don't have to craft a lantern to complete it. The glyph is one of the accepted items, and the six lantern variants are the Ars Additions part of the list.[3]
Unverified The quest's description text and its rewards aren't shown in the available quest data, so they are unverified here.
Which Ars Additions config options matter?
2 parts
Ars Additions only has a handful of options in its common config, and they're easy to find: config/ars_additions-common.toml. Here's exactly how this pack sets them.[10]
Chunkloading ritual
The big one is chunkloading.ritual_enabled, which controls whether the default recipe for the Ritual of Arcane Permanent is enabled. This pack sets it to false, so you can't craft that ritual with its default recipe.[1][10]
That matches the mod's own behavior. The mod describes this ritual, which chunkloads the area around it, as fully configurable and disabled by default. So this isn't a pack-specific change, it's just the mod default left as is.[1]
Structure spawning
There are three toggles for the structures the mod adds to the world, and this pack leaves all of them on (true):[10]
- structures.arcane_library_enabled is true, so arcane libraries can spawn in the world.[10]
- structures.nexus_tower_enabled is true, so nexus towers can spawn. The mod describes the Nexus Tower as a wizard tower that makes teleporting around your world easier.[1][10]
- structures.ruined_warp_portals_enabled is true, so ruined warp portals can spawn. The mod describes these as a Warp Portal variant of the Ruined Portals that includes an Explorer's Warp Scroll to help you discover new places.[1][10]
Unverified The sources don't state the mod's own default values for the three structure toggles, so I can't say whether this pack changed any of them. Everything above is only what the pack's file sets.
