What is Ars Additions?
2 parts
Ars Additions is an Ars Nouveau addon built around small tweaks and quality of life additions. This pack includes version 1.21.1-21.3.0. The descriptions below come from the mod's project page, so they show what the mod offers in general. They don't confirm every pack-specific setting.[1][2]
What it adds
- Structures: Ruined Warp Portals, which include an Explorer's Warp Scroll, and the Nexus Tower, a wizard tower for easier teleporting around your world.[1]
- Glyphs: Retaliate (Form) targets the entity that last hit you within the last 5 seconds. Mark (Effect) and Recall (Form) store and reuse a target block or entity through a Reliquary.[1]
- Functionality: the Warp Index gives remote access to your Storage Lecterns, and the upgraded versions work across dimensions. The Ender Source Jar acts like an Ender Chest for Source. A Wixie Charm turns an Enchanting Apparatus into a Wixie Enchanting Apparatus, which can automate its recipes.[1]
- Chunkloading: the Ritual of Arcane Permanent loads your surrounding area. It is fully configurable and disabled by default.[1]
- Decoration: Ars-themed lanterns, Magelight lanterns, matching chains, Sourcestone walls, Cracked Sourcestone and the Snoozebuncle painting.[1]
Where it sits in the quest book
The pack's quest book puts Ars Additions in the "Apothic Spawners" chapter, in the "Resources" group. It is chapter 37 of 70 in the book. The entry is the a quest in "Apothic Spawners" quest, which asks for Source Spawner and calls it Ars Nouveau's spawner.[3]
The quest text says this spawner uses Source as fuel. To choose which mob it spawns, you need a Containment Jar holding that mob in the area.[3]
Before it comes an untitled checkmark quest, a quest in "Apothic Spawners", which explains that these are spawners provided by mods other than Apothic Spawners. The Source Spawner shares that parent with the spawners from other mods: Industrial Foregoing, EnderIO, Mob Grinding Utils, Mystical Agriculture, Draconic Evolution and PneumaticCraft. None of the quests shown for this chapter follow the Source Spawner quest. Seven quests in the chapter aren't shown here, so check the quest book for those.[3]
How do you get started with Ars Additions?
6 parts
Ars Additions is an Ars Nouveau addon focused on small tweaks and quality of life additions. Here is the order I'd tackle its items in, starting with the cheap, useful ones.[1]
Light up your base with Magelight lanterns
Light keeps monsters from spawning in your base, and the quest book covers exactly this. In the Building Tips chapter, the "Ars Nouveau Lights" quest quest comes after the general light quest. It tells you Magelights can be placed with spells, or you can craft a Magelight Lantern and place that instead. The Archwood Lantern and Archwood Magelight Lantern are good first picks, and the pack changes both recipes from the mod's defaults.[4][5]

This one is also changed by the pack.
If you like the Sourcestone look, a shapeless recipe converts the Sourcestone Magelight Lantern into the Polished Sourcestone Magelight Lantern. The pack also adds a Create sandpaper polishing recipe that does the same job.[5]
Ender Source Jar
The Ender Source Jar works like an Ender Chest for Source. Place one in your base to fill it with Source, then carry another with you to reach that Source anywhere.[1]
Enchanting Apparatus (ars_nouveau)
Recipe id: ars_additions:apparatus/ender_source_jar
Warp Index
The Warp Index gives you remote access to your Storage Lecterns, and the upgraded versions add cross-dimensional access. The Stabilized Warp Index is the upgrade, and the pack changes its recipe from the mod's default.[1][5]

Quality of life tools
The Advanced Dominion Wand is an upgraded Dominion Wand, and its in-game messages show it can link several targets in one go. The Handy Haversack also has a recipe the pack changed from the mod's default.[5][6]

Mark and Recall
When you're ready for spell tricks, make an Unstable Reliquary. The Glyph Mark glyph stores a target in a Reliquary, and Glyph Recall casts a spell on that stored target later.[1][6]

Recipe id: ars_additions:apparatus/unstable_reliquary
Source Spawner
Save the Source Spawner for later. The quest book places a quest in "Apothic Spawners" in the Apothic Spawners chapter, in the Resources group, as Ars Nouveau's spawner. It uses Source as fuel, and you'll need a Containment Jar holding the mob in the area to decide what it spawns.[3]

How does Ars Additions work?
6 parts
Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.1 guide
Ars Additions is an Ars Nouveau addon built around small tweaks and quality-of-life features, so you won't find big machines or multiblocks here. What it does add is a handful of systems for storing, moving and automating things with Source. Here's how each one works, as far as the sources explain it.[1]
Mark, Recall and the Reliquary
The Mark glyph is an Effect that stores a reference to a block or entity inside a Reliquary. To bind one, hold the Reliquary in your offhand and cast a spell with Mark. The Recall glyph is a Form that reads that stored target and casts the spell on it. The Reliquary can also show a broken tether in its tooltip.[1][7]
Retaliate is a Form that applies your spell to the last entity that dealt damage to you. The hit has to be within the last 5 seconds.[1][7]
Source and storage
- Ender Source Jar: this works like an Ender Chest for Source. Place one in your base to fill it with Source, then carry another to reach that Source anywhere.[1]
- Warp Index: gives you remote access to your Storage Lecterns. The upgraded (Stabilized) version adds cross-dimensional access. Its tooltip shows the coordinates and dimension it's bound to, and you open it with a keybind.[1][7]
- Handy Haversack: its tooltip says to click items into the Haversack, or click the Haversack onto items.[7]
Automation
Use a Wixie Charm on an Enchanting Apparatus to turn it into a Wixie Enchanting Apparatus. It can automate Enchanting Apparatus recipes, including applying enchantments.[1]
The Wixie Cauldron also has a tooltip that reads "Output storage bound". The sources don't explain how that binding works, so check it in-game.[7]
Rituals and exploration
The Ritual of Arcane Permanence force-loads the chunks around it, and it needs a constant stream of Source to keep running. Another ritual locates a nearby structure based on the augments you give it.[7]
Ruined Warp Portals come with an Explorer's Warp Scroll. Throw it into the frame of a ruined warp portal, or press its keybind, to teleport. The tooltip shows whether it is still locating a structure, has located one, or failed to find one nearby.[1][7]
Unverified The mod's own description says the chunk-loading ritual is fully configurable and disabled by default. No config files for this mod were available for this pack, so whether it is enabled here, and what its limits are, is unverified.
Charms and perks
Ars Additions adds a set of charms that give passive protection. The Fall Prevention Charm grants feather fall when you fall further than 3 blocks. The Undying Charm lets you keep going after fatal damage. The Void Protection Charm teleports you back to the last safe space you were on. Charm tooltips can also show a charging progress.[7]
The Thread Reach perk increases your entity and block interaction distances by 1 for each level.[7]
What the pack changes
The pack changes the crafting recipes for the mod's chains and for most of its lanterns, including the Magelight variants. Don't rely on the mod's default recipes for these. Here is the in-pack recipe for the Magelight Lantern.[8]
Crafting Shaped
| any iron nugget | any iron ingot | any iron nugget |
| any iron ingot | any iron ingot | |
| any iron nugget | any iron ingot | any iron nugget |
Recipe id: ars_additions:crafting/lanterns/magelight_lantern
Unverified The pack has shapeless "clear" recipes for the Handy Haversack, the Advanced Dominion Wand and the Jar of Miner's Wisdom. The sources don't say what they do, so their exact effect is unverified.
How do you progress through Ars Additions?
4 parts
The sources here show Ars Additions in two places in the quest book, plus a spread of recipes that run from simple crafting-table lanterns up to Enchanting Apparatus items. This section walks through them in that order, simplest first.[3][4][5]
Where the quest book puts it
- The a quest in "Apothic Spawners" quest asks for the Source Spawner. It sits in the Apothic Spawners chapter (group Resources, chapter 37 of 70 in the book), right after the untitled quest a quest in "Apothic Spawners", which introduces the spawners that come from mods other than Apothic Spawners. The quest says this spawner uses Source as fuel and needs a Containment Jar holding the mob in the area to decide what to spawn.[3]
- The "Ars Nouveau Lights" quest quest is in the Building Tips chapter (chapter 3 of 70 in the book), after the light sources quest a quest in "Building Tips". It accepts Ars Nouveau's light glyph or any of the Magelight Lanterns: Magelight Lantern, Golden Magelight Lantern, Sourcestone Magelight Lantern, Polished Sourcestone Magelight Lantern, Archwood Magelight Lantern and Soul Magelight Lantern.[4]
Crafting table lanterns
The pack changed the crafting recipe of the Magelight Lantern compared with the mod's own version. This is the recipe you'll use here:[5]

The pack changed the recipes of several more lights: the golden, sourcestone, archwood and soul Magelight Lanterns, the plain Golden Lantern, Sourcestone Lantern and Archwood Lantern, and the Golden Chain. The golden Magelight Lantern is shown below.[5]

For the polished look, you can turn a Sourcestone Magelight Lantern into a Polished Sourcestone Magelight Lantern. Both the crafting recipe and the Create sandpaper polishing recipe the pack added are shown below. The pack also added a sandpaper recipe that polishes the Sourcestone Lantern into a Polished Sourcestone Lantern.[5]

The Enchanting Apparatus
The bigger items are made in Ars Nouveau's Enchanting Apparatus. That includes the Source Spawner from the quest above.[5]

The protective charms are Apparatus recipes too: Charm of Featherlight, Charm of Emberward, Charm of Ender Serenity, Charm of Unyielding Magic and Charm of Void's Salvation. The recipe list marks each of these as a mod recipe, not one changed by the pack.[5]
The pack changed the recipes of three Apparatus items: the Advanced Dominion Wand, the Jar of Miner's Wisdom and the Stabilized Warp Index. The Stabilized Warp Index builds on the Warp Index, which has its own Apparatus recipe. The recipes are shown below.[5]

How does Ars Additions work with other mods?
5 parts
Ars Additions is an Ars Nouveau addon focused on small tweaks and quality of life additions, so almost every connection you'll find is to Ars Nouveau. In this pack's recipes, the mod's items are built on Ars Nouveau materials like Sourcestone and Source Gem.[1][5]
Sourcestone building blocks
The Sourcestone decoration all hangs off Ars Nouveau's own stone. Sourcestone is cut into the cracked variants, such as Cracked Sourcestone and Cracked Polished Sourcestone: Small Bricks, and those cracked blocks can be turned back into plain Sourcestone. The polished doors, trapdoors, walls and buttons can be cut back into Smooth Sourcestone at a stonecutter. Here are the two door recipes.[5]

Magebloom Carpet comes from Ars Nouveau's Magebloom Block.[5]
Lanterns and chains
The pack changed the recipes for the chains and lanterns, including Archwood Chain, Sourcestone Chain, Archwood Lantern and Soul Magelight Lantern. They use Ars Nouveau materials, and they accept any item from the common iron nuggets tag. Some also use vanilla items such as the torch and soul sand.[5]
Enchanting Apparatus items
The mod's bigger items are crafted at Ars Nouveau's Enchanting Apparatus, mixing Ars Nouveau parts with vanilla items. The Advanced Dominion Wand is an upgrade of Ars Nouveau's Dominion Wand, and the pack changed its recipe.[5]

The pack also changed the recipe for the Jar of Miner's Wisdom. The Ender Source Jar is an Ender Chest for Source: place one in your base to fill up with source and take another with you to access it anywhere. Its recipe below is built around Ars Nouveau's Source Jar.[1][5]

In the quest book
Source Spawner has its own quest in the Apothic Spawners chapter. That chapter is in the Resources group, chapter 37 of 70 in the book, and has 34 quests. The Source Spawner quest comes after an untitled quest explaining that these are spawners provided by mods besides Apothic Spawners.[3]
The quest calls it Ars Nouveau's spawner. It uses Source as fuel, and to pick the mob you need a Containment Jar holding that mob in the area. It sits in the same group of quests as the spawners from PneumaticCraft, Industrial Foregoing, EnderIO, Mob Grinding Utils, Mystical Agriculture and Draconic Evolution. Some quests in that chapter are not covered here, so check the quest book for the rest.[3]

Which All the Mons quests use Ars Additions?
2 parts
This mod shows up in two quest chapters in the pack: Building Tips, which is chapter 3 of 70 in the book, and Apothic Spawners, which is chapter 37 of 70 and sits in the Resources group. Building Tips comes first in the book, so we'll start there.[3][4]
Building Tips: the lanterns
The chapter opens with "Building Tips!" quest. From there the path goes to "Decoration!" quest, then to a quest in "Building Tips", which accepts any one of a long list of light sources, including torches, lanterns, glowstone and copper bulbs. The book's reason for it is that light helps you see and keeps monsters from spawning.[4]
Several lighting quests follow the copper bulb quest: "Chipped Lights" quest, "Simply Light" quest, "Wall Lamps" quest, "Torchmaster" quest and the one this mod belongs to, "Ars Nouveau Lights" quest.[4]
The quest is about Magelights, which the book calls light sources of pure magic. You can place them with spells, or you can craft a Magelight Lantern and place that instead. The task accepts any one of these items:[4]
- The Light glyph from Ars Nouveau (ars_nouveau:glyph_light).[4]
- Magelight Lantern[4]
- Golden Magelight Lantern[4]
- Sourcestone Magelight Lantern[4]
- Polished Sourcestone Magelight Lantern[4]
- Archwood Magelight Lantern[4]
- Soul Magelight Lantern[4]
Apothic Spawners: the Source Spawner
This chapter covers spawners and how to modify them. It starts with "Apothic Spawners" quest, and a checkmark quest, a quest in "Apothic Spawners", explains that the spawners that follow are provided by mods other than Apothic Spawners.[3]
a quest in "Apothic Spawners" is the Ars Nouveau entry in that group. It asks you to obtain the Source Spawner. The quest says it uses Source as fuel, and that to pick which mob it spawns you need a Containment Jar holding the mob in the area.[3]
It is listed alongside the other mod spawners in the chapter, such as a quest in "Apothic Spawners" for EnderIO, a quest in "Apothic Spawners" for Mystical Agriculture and a quest in "Apothic Spawners" for PneumaticCraft. None of those lead on to the Source Spawner.[3]
Which Ars Additions config options matter?
2 parts
Same as in the All the Mods 10 0.53 guide
Ars Additions doesn't have a long list of settings to tweak, and the pack's config files for this mod aren't available to me. So I can't tell you the exact values this pack uses, and I won't guess at them.[1]
Ritual of Arcane Permanent (chunkloading)
The one setting the mod's project page calls out is the Ritual of Arcane Permanent. It chunkloads the area around it, and the page says it is fully configurable and disabled by default. That describes the mod's own default, not necessarily this pack's setup.[1]
Unverified Whether this pack enables the Ritual of Arcane Permanent, and what chunkloading limits or other values it sets, could not be confirmed. Check the in-game behavior or the pack's config folder before building around it.
Higher-tier Codex Entries
The project page says Tier 1 Codex Entries show up in basic dungeon loot, while higher tiers are unobtainable by default. That is the mod's default behavior. It isn't confirmed whether this pack changes how higher tiers are obtained.[1]
