What is Cobblegen Galore?

2 parts

Cobblegen Galore adds block-based stone generators, so you can get Cobble and other stone-type blocks automatically instead of mining them by hand. The pack ships version 1.21.1-0.2.8 of the mod.[1][2]

It's aimed at you in the early game. The first quest to use it, "Stone Generator" quest, sits in Chapter 1 and unlocks after the Lava and Water quests. Its task is to get the Stone Block Generator.[2]

How the generator works

If you remember the old stone generator blocks that dropped Cobble straight into an inventory above them, these work a little differently. You still need an inventory above the generator to collect the blocks.[2]

  1. Place the generator with an inventory above it.[2]
  2. Put a Lava Source and a Water Source on 2 of the generator's sides. It then starts making Cobble.[2]
  3. To get a different block, place that block under the generator. The quest mentions Andesite and Obsidian, and says to check JEI for more recipes.[2]
Tip: You can upgrade the generators, and the upgrades just make them faster.[2]

Where it fits in progression

In Chapter 2, "Automating Andesite" quest builds on the same setup. Its tasks are the generator, a water bucket, a lava bucket and Andesite. Build the generator as normal, put an Andesite block beneath it, and it makes Andesite instead of Cobble.[3]

Unverified The sources don't confirm the generator's crafting recipe, its upgrade items or tiers, or any config options. Check JEI in game for the in-pack recipes. This site does hold All the Mods 10: To the Sky's own recipes, read from the pack itself: look the item up in the item browser.

How do you get started with Cobblegen Galore?

4 parts

Your first stop in this pack is the Stone Block Generator. The Chapter 1 quest "Stone Generator" quest points you straight at it, and every other generator tier is built on top of it.[2][4]

Craft the Stone Block Generator

The pack adds its own crafting recipe for this generator, shown below.[4]

Set it up

The quest says these generators work differently from the ones in ATM9TTS. Follow these steps:[2]

  1. Place the generator and put an inventory directly above it. That's where the generated blocks end up.[2]
  2. Put a Lava Source on one side of the generator and a Water Source on another. You need both, on 2 of its sides.[2]
  3. Once both sources are in place, it starts making Cobble.[2]

Make other blocks

Cobble is only the default. To get something else, place that block underneath the generator. The Chapter 1 quest mentions Andesite and Obsidian as examples, and says JEI shows more recipes.[2]

Andesite gets its own quest in Chapter 2, "Automating Andesite" quest. Build the generator as usual, put an Andesite block beneath it, and it makes Andesite instead of Cobble. No more picking up pebbles.[3]

Upgrade for speed

The quest says upgrading the generators speeds them up. In this pack each tier is crafted from the previous generator, in this order: Stone, Copper, Iron, Gold, Emerald, Diamond, Netherite. The first upgrade is the Copper Block Generator, and its recipe is below.[2][4]

The rest of the chain follows the same pattern, each tier built from the one before it:[4]

Tip: Each recipe in this chain is added by the pack. Look any of them up in JEI to see the exact crafting layout before you start gathering materials.[2][4]

How does Cobblegen Galore work?

2 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 10: To the Sky 2.0.4 guide

Cobblegen Galore is built around a family of tiered generator blocks. In order, they are the Stone Block Generator, Copper Block Generator, Iron Block Generator, Gold Block Generator, Emerald Block Generator, Diamond Block Generator and Netherite Block Generator.[5][6]

The sources for this mod only cover these blocks and how you craft them in this pack, so this section sticks to that.[5][6]

The upgrade ladder

Every generator recipe in this pack is added by the pack's scripts, so these are the pack's recipes, not necessarily the mod's defaults. They form a ladder: you start with the Stone tier, then craft each next tier from the generator one step below it, all the way up to Netherite.[6]

Here is the entry point, the Stone Block Generator:[6]

Tip: Because each tier is crafted from the previous generator, you can't skip ahead. Plan to build every generator in order on your way to the Netherite tier.[6]

Source blocks

The mod's recipe viewer entries carry the label "Source block is consumed", so keep an eye out for that line when you look up one of its recipes.[5]

How do you progress through Cobblegen Galore?

9 parts

Cobblegen Galore is all about one machine that you upgrade step by step. In this pack you start with the Stone Block Generator and climb a single ladder of generators, each crafted from the one before it. The chain runs from Stone up to Netherite.[4]

Tier 1: Stone Generator

The pack's first quest, "Stone Generator" quest, sits in Chapter 1 and unlocks after the Lava and Water quests. It asks you to get the Stone Block Generator. The pack added its own crafting recipe for it:[2][4]

Shaped (kubejs)

Shaped (kubejs)
CobblestoneCobblestoneCobblestone

CobblestoneCobblestoneCobblestone

Recipe id: kubejs:kjs/cobblegengalore_block_gen_stone

The quest says this works differently from the Stone Generator Blocks you may remember from ATM9TTS. You still need an inventory above the generator to collect the blocks. You also need a lava source and a water source on 2 of its sides, and then it starts making cobble.[2]

Tip: Want something other than cobble? Place the block you want underneath the generator. The quest mentions Andesite and Obsidian as examples, and it points you to JEI for the full list of recipes.[2]

Automating other blocks

"Automating Andesite" quest in Chapter 2 puts this into practice. You build the generator as usual, then put an Andesite block beneath it, and it makes Andesite instead of cobble. The quest tasks are the Stone Block Generator, a water bucket, a lava bucket and Andesite.[3]

The upgrade ladder

According to the Chapter 1 quest, upgrading a generator just speeds it up. The pack adds a recipe for every tier, and each one uses the previous tier's generator as its base. The order is Stone, Copper, Iron, Gold, Emerald, Diamond, Netherite.[2][4]

Tier 2: Copper

Your first upgrade is the Copper Block Generator, made from your Stone Block Generator.[4]

The top of the ladder is the Netherite Block Generator, which builds on the Diamond tier.[4]

Tip: Every recipe in the chain is a pack-added shaped recipe, and each one accepts any lava bucket and any water bucket. Keep a few spare buckets of each on hand before you start upgrading.[4]

Unverified The pack's sources do not say how much faster each tier is, and they do not give exact generation rates. The only confirmed point is that upgrades speed the generators up. The mod is also not on the ATM Star quest path, and no quests beyond the two above were found for it.

Which All the Mods 10: To the Sky quests use Cobblegen Galore?

3 parts

Cobblegen Galore shows up in two quest chapters in this pack. You meet it right at the start, then it comes back in the next chapter with a more specific job.[2][3]

Chapter 1: Starting out

The first quest is "Stone Generator" quest. Its task is to get a Stone Block Generator. It unlocks after the Lava and Water quests.[2]

The quest text says this generator works differently from the Stone Generator Blocks in ATM9TTS. You still need an inventory above the generator to collect what it makes. To get it running, you need a lava source and a water source on 2 of its sides, and then it starts making cobble.[2]

For other blocks, such as andesite or obsidian, the quest says to place that block under the generator. It also points you to JEI for more recipes, and says that upgrading the generators only speeds them up.[2]

Chapter 2: The Cool Parts

The next quest is "Automating Andesite" quest, which comes after the quest called The Cool Parts. Its tasks are the Stone Block Generator, a Water Bucket, a Lava Bucket and Andesite.[3]

The quest text tells you to build the generator as normal, but put an andesite block beneath it. It will then make andesite instead of cobble.[3]

Suggested order

  1. Do "Stone Generator" quest in Chapter 1 to learn the lava and water setup and get the generator.[2]
  2. Move on to "Automating Andesite" quest in Chapter 2 and put an andesite block under the generator to make andesite.[3]
