What is Botany Trees?
1 part
Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.2 guide
Botany Trees is an addon for Botany Pots. It lets you grow trees in the small pots, either as decoration or as a mini wood farm.[1]
This pack ships Botany Trees 21.1.7, and the mod has been in the pack since version 4.6 or earlier.[2]
Which trees it supports
The mod's project page lists trees from vanilla and several other mods. These are the counts it gives:[1]
- Vanilla: 6 trees[1]
- Quark: 5 trees[1]
- Biomes O' Plenty: 18 trees[1]
- Forbidden Arcanus: 2 trees[1]
- Simple Farming: 9 trees[1]
- Biomes You'll Go: 39 trees[1]
- Better Default Biomes: 2 trees[1]
- Silent Gear: 1 tree[1]
That list comes from the mod's own page, so it shows what the mod can support in general. Which of those trees you can actually plant depends on which of those mods are installed in the pack.[1]
How do you get started with Botany Trees?
2 parts
Same as in the All the Mods 10: To the Sky 2.0.4 guide
Botany Trees is an addon for Botany Pots. It lets you grow trees inside small pots, either as decoration or as a mini wood farm. So you need Botany Pots in your world first, because this mod builds on it.[1]
What you can grow
The mod adds trees from vanilla and from several other mods. Vanilla has 6 trees, Quark has 5, Biomes O' Plenty has 18, Forbidden Arcanus has 2, Simple Farming has 9, Biomes You'll Go has 39, Better Default Biomes has 2 and Silent Gear has 1.[1]
A tree only shows up when its source mod is installed alongside Botany Trees. I can't confirm from my sources which of these mods are in this pack, so check what you have in your instance.[1]
Your first steps
The project page says trees from vanilla can be grown in a Botany Pot, so a vanilla tree is a simple place to begin. That's all it confirms about how the mod works: pots that hold trees, used for decoration or as a mini wood farm.[1]
Unverified I can't confirm any in-pack recipes, quests or item ids for Botany Trees, so there's no verified crafting order or recipe to show here. Look up the pot and sapling items in your recipe viewer (JEI or similar) to see exactly what this pack requires. This site does hold All the Mods 10: To the Sky's own recipes, read from the pack itself: look the item up in the item browser.
How does Botany Trees work?
3 parts
Botany Trees is an addon for Botany Pots. It lets you grow trees inside a small pot, either as decoration or as a mini wood farm. What the mod actually adds is a set of tree crop definitions for the pot, and each one points to a loot table that decides what you harvest.[1][3]
How a tree crop is defined in this pack
The pack adds pot crops for three Allthemodium trees: Ancient, Demonic and Soul. Each one is a block-derived crop built on its sapling, which is Ancient Sapling, Demonic Sapling or Soul Sapling. Each has a grow time value of 2,400 and drops whatever its own tree loot table gives.[3][4][5]
What the Allthemodium trees drop
The Demonic and Soul trees follow the same simple pattern. You always get 1 to 4 logs. There is a 5% chance of a sapling, so a pot can replace its own sapling over time. If you harvest with shears you also get 1 to 3 leaves.[6][7]
- Demonic tree: Demonic Log, a 5% chance of Demonic Sapling, and Demonic Leaves with shears.[6]
- Soul tree: Soul Log, a 5% chance of Soul Sapling, and Soul Leaves with shears.[7]
The Ancient tree is where the pack changes the mod's table. The mod's own version only drops Ancient Log (1 to 4), a 5% sapling and shears-only leaves. The pack's version keeps all of that and adds a separate 5% chance each of Ancient Log and Ancient Log. So an Ancient pot can occasionally give you the other log variants, which the default table never does.[8][9]
The pack also ships its own Demonic and Soul tables. Their drops are the same as the mod's own versions: 1 to 4 logs, a 5% sapling and shears-only leaves.[6][7][10][11]
Other tree loot tables in the mod
The mod's jar also has loot tables for archwood trees from the Ars mods, and each one only loads if its sapling block exists. Examples are Cascading Archwood Log, Flourishing Archwood Log and Flashing Archwood Log. Each gives 1 to 4 logs, a 5% sapling chance and shears-only leaves.[12][13][14]
How do you progress through Botany Trees?
2 parts
Botany Trees in this pack comes down to what each tree gives you when you harvest it. The pack ships its own drop tables for three Allthemodium trees: ancient, demonic and soul. These are pack overrides, so the values below are what you get here, not the mod defaults.[6][7][8]
Ancient tree
The ancient tree is the richest of the three, because it can give you several kinds of log.[8]
- Drops 1 to 4 of Ancient Log, with no chance condition on that drop.[8]
- Each of Ancient Log, Ancient Log and Ancient Sapling has its own separate 0.05 chance to drop.[8]
- Drops 1 to 3 of Ancient Leaves when you harvest it with shears.[8]
Demonic and soul trees
The demonic and soul trees follow the same simple pattern. You get 1 to 4 logs with no chance condition, which are Demonic Log or Soul Log. There is a 0.05 chance of the matching sapling, Demonic Sapling or Soul Sapling. With shears you get 1 to 3 leaves, Demonic Leaves or Soul Leaves.[6][7]
