What is Ars Ocultas?
2 parts
Ars Ocultas is a compatibility mod that connects Ars Nouveau and Occultism. If you use both magic systems, this is the mod that makes them work together. This pack includes version 2.2.0.[1][2]
What it adds
- Spirits can be used from Containment Jars.[1]
- A spirit in a jar automatically pulls items in a 7x7 area around it and processes them. You can also right-click items on the jar to process them yourself.[1]
- A Containment Jar holding a spirit has an item capability, so you can pipe items into it. Pipes, hoppers and starbuncles all work.[1]
- Janitor Spirits automatically try to push their contents into an inventory placed on top of the jar.[1]
- New recipes make progression easier, along with some quality-of-life changes.[1]
Where it fits in this pack
You meet the mod in the Occultism quest chapter. The quest a quest in "Occultism" comes after Ihagan's Enthrallment and asks you to get the Sacrificial Altar.[3]
The Sacrificial Altar automates Sacrifices. It goes under your central bowl. If a Containment Jar holding the would-be sacrifice is nearby, the altar can substitute Source from a nearby Source Jar for the sacrifice.[3]
For a full overview from the mod's author, check the Ars Ocultas section of the Worn Notebook, the Ars Nouveau guidebook.[1]
How do you get started with Ars Ocultas?
3 parts
Ars Ocultas connects Ars Nouveau and Occultism. It lets spirits work from Containment Jars and adds new recipes to make progression easier.[1]
Step 1: Make the Sacrificial Altar
The first craftable item from this mod that the pack points you to is the Sacrificial Altar. Its quest is a quest in "Occultism", named "Source Substitutes Sacrifice", in the Occultism chapter of the quest book. It comes after the quest "Ihagan's Enthrallment", so finish that one first. The quest task is to get the altar.[3]
You craft it at an Ars Nouveau Enchanting Apparatus, and the pack has changed this recipe from the mod's default. Follow the recipe below, not what you may remember from other packs.[4]
Enchanting Apparatus (ars_nouveau)
Drygmy Token
Containment Jar
2× Sourcestone
Golden Ritual Bowl
- 4× any silver ingot
Recipe id: ars_ocultas:altar
Made in the Enchanting Apparatus. The pack changed this recipe.
Why start here
The altar automates sacrifices. It goes under your central bowl, and it lets a sacrifice be substituted with Source from a nearby Source Jar. For that to work, a Containment Jar holding the would-be sacrifice must also be nearby.[3]
Other things to try
- Spirits in Containment Jars automatically pull items around them in a 7x7 area and process them.[1]
- You can also right-click items on the jar to process them yourself.[1]
- A jar holding a spirit accepts items from pipes, hoppers and starbuncles.[1]
- Janitor Spirits try to push their contents into an inventory on top of the jar.[1]
How does Ars Ocultas work?
3 parts
Same as in the All the Mons 0.6.0-beta guide
Ars Ocultas is an integration mod that connects Ars Nouveau and Occultism. The core idea is that spirits from Occultism can work from inside Containment Jars from Ars Nouveau.[1]
Spirits in Containment Jars
Once a Containment Jar holds a spirit, the spirit automatically pulls items from a 7x7 area around the jar and processes them. You can also right-click items on the jar yourself to have them processed.[1]
Automation
A jar with a spirit inside has an Item Capability attached, so you can pipe items into it. Pipes, hoppers and starbuncles all work for this.[1]
Janitor Spirits do something extra. They automatically try to push their contents into an inventory placed on top of the jar.[1]
Sacrificial Altar
The mod adds the Sacrificial Altar. In this pack it is crafted at the Enchanting Apparatus, and the pack has changed its recipe from the mod's own.[5][6]
Enchanting Apparatus (ars_nouveau)
Drygmy Token
Containment Jar
2× Sourcestone
Golden Ritual Bowl
- 4× any silver ingot
Recipe id: ars_ocultas:altar
This is an Enchanting Apparatus recipe, and the pack changed it.
How do you progress through Ars Ocultas?
2 parts
The pack's quest book shows one Ars Ocultas step: the Sacrificial Altar. It sits in the Occultism quest chapter, so this section is short.[3]
Source Substitutes Sacrifice
The quest a quest in "Occultism" comes after the quest Ihagan's Enthrallment, and its task is to obtain the Sacrificial Altar. The quest describes the altar as a tool for automating Sacrifices.[3]
Here's how it works. You place the altar under your central bowl. A Sacrifice can then be substituted with Source from a nearby Source Jar, as long as a Containment Jar holding the would-be sacrifice is also nearby.[3]
Crafting the altar
The pack changes this recipe, so don't rely on what you remember from the mod's defaults. In the pack, the altar is made at an Enchanting Apparatus. The recipe below is the exact in-pack version.[4]
Enchanting Apparatus (ars_nouveau)
Drygmy Token
Containment Jar
2× Sourcestone
Golden Ritual Bowl
- 4× any silver ingot
Recipe id: ars_ocultas:altar
The pack changes this recipe, and it is crafted at the Enchanting Apparatus.
How does Ars Ocultas work with other mods?
2 parts
Same as in the All the Mods 10 5.5 guide
Ars Ocultas is a bridge mod: its whole job is connecting Ars Nouveau with Occultism. If you're running both magic mods in this pack, this is what lets their systems work together instead of side by side.[1]
The Sacrificial Altar
The main in-pack recipe tying the three mods together is the Sacrificial Altar. You craft it in Ars Nouveau's Enchanting Apparatus, and it combines parts from both Ars Nouveau and Occultism, including an Golden Ritual Bowl and a Containment Jar. This pack has changed the recipe, so check the version below rather than an older guide or video.[7]
Enchanting Apparatus (ars_nouveau)
Drygmy Token
Containment Jar
2× Sourcestone
Golden Ritual Bowl
- 4× any silver ingot

Crafted in the Enchanting Apparatus; changed by the pack.
Unverified The sources don't describe what the Sacrificial Altar does once you've placed it, so test it in-game before you build your setup around it.
Occultism spirits in Containment Jars
The biggest feature is that you can use Occultism spirits from Ars Nouveau's Containment Jar. Instead of letting a spirit wander around, you keep it in a jar and it keeps working.[1]
- A spirit in a jar automatically pulls in items around it in a 7x7 area and processes them.[1]
- You can also right-click an item on the jar to have the spirit process it by hand.[1]
- Jars holding a spirit accept items through automation, so you can feed them with pipes, hoppers or Ars Nouveau's starbuncles.[1]
- Janitor spirits get a special trick: they automatically try to push what they're carrying into an inventory placed on top of the jar.[1]
Unverified The mod's project page says the Ars Ocultas section of Ars Nouveau's Worn Notebook has a full overview, but that guide section hasn't been confirmed for this pack.
Which All the Mods 10: To the Sky quests use Ars Ocultas?
1 part
In this pack, the only quest I can confirm for Ars Ocultas sits in the Occultism chapter. It's a quest in "Occultism", titled "Source Substitutes Sacrifice".[3]
The quest comes after the quest "Ihagan's Enthrallment", so you unlock it once you've worked through that one. Its task is the Sacrificial Altar.[3]
What the quest teaches
The quest text presents the Sacrificial Altar as a tool for automating Occultism sacrifices. It goes under your central bowl. It lets a sacrifice be substituted with Source from a nearby Source Jar, as long as a Containment Jar holding the would-be sacrifice is also nearby.[3]
Unverified I couldn't confirm any other Ars Ocultas quests or chapters in this pack, so the order beyond this single quest is unknown. The exact crafting recipe for the altar isn't covered by the quest data I have either.
What changed in Ars Ocultas between versions?
1 part
All the Mods 10: To the Sky 1.9.1 ships Ars Ocultas 2.2.0 (ars_ocultas-1.21.1-2.2.0.jar). The mod has been in the pack since version 1.0 or earlier.[2]
Ars Ocultas 2.2.0
This is the version you have in 1.9.1, and the mod's own changelog lists the following changes for it.[2][8]
- Added: support for Crystallizer spirits, which can now auto transfer items to nearby inventories.[8]
- Added: the Sacrificial Altar, a new block for sacrificing mobs from Mob jars. It consumes 5,000 Source and must be placed under the golden sacrificial bowl.[8]
- Changed: the minimum required versions of Occultism and Neoforge were bumped.[8]
Unverified No pack changelog entries for Ars Ocultas were available, so changes made to this mod between pack releases, and whether the pack alters any of the values above, are unconfirmed.
