What is Jonn's Trophies?

Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.0 guide

Jonn's Trophies is included in this pack as version 1.21.1-2.5.0, and it has been part of the pack since version 2.25 or earlier.[1]

Unverified We don't yet have reliable details on what Jonn's Trophies does, who it's aimed at, or which items and blocks it adds. Your best bet for now is to look it up in-game with a recipe viewer. This site does hold All the Mons's own recipes, read from the pack itself: look the item up in the item browser.

Unverified Jonn's Trophies doesn't appear to be on the ATM Star path or in any of this pack's quests, so it's probably an optional side feature rather than part of the main progression.

How do you get started with Jonn's Trophies?

3 parts

Jonn's Trophies adds a Trophy block that shows off a mob you've killed. In this pack you don't start by crafting anything: the quickest way to get your first one is to go out and kill mobs yourself.[2][3]

First: kill mobs and hope for a drop

Trophy drops from mobs are switched on (General.dropFromMobs is true). A normal mob has a drop chance of 0.02 when a player kills it, set by General.dropChanceMobs. That's the same as the mod default, so expect to farm a while.[3]

Bosses are much kinder. General.dropChanceBoss is 0.2 when a player kills one, so a boss fight is your best shot at a trophy.[3]

Tip: Looting helps here. General.applyLooting is true in this pack, so the Looting enchantment raises your trophy drop chance.[3]
Watch out: Machines won't do the farming for you. General.allowFakePlayer is false, so fake players (machines) don't get trophy drops. You need to land the kill yourself.[3]

Next: place it and check the defaults

Trophies dropped from a mob use the base block set in General.defaultBaseBlock, which is minecraft:smooth_stone_slab here. The default size (General.defaultScale) is 0.5 and the default height offset (General.defaultYOffset) is 0.5. The config notes say that offset suits slabs; a full block should use 1.0 and carpets 0.1.[3]

Then: tweak it to your liking

General.allowNonOpEdit is true, so you don't need to be an operator to change a trophy's settings. The GUI has an Apply button to confirm your changes. You can scale a trophy up to a maximum of 20 (General.maxSize) and offset it up to 2000 (General.maxYOffset).[2][3]

Trophies dropped from players are off: General.dropFromPlayers is false, and the config marks it as work in progress.[3]

How does Jonn's Trophies work?

5 parts

The material available for Jonn's Trophies in this pack is its server config, so this section covers how trophies drop and how their default look is set. All of it comes from the values the pack uses.[3]

When trophies drop

Trophies drop from mobs when a player kills them, because General.dropFromMobs is on in this pack. A normal mob has a drop chance of 0.02 per kill, set by General.dropChanceMobs. That matches the mod default.[3]

Bosses are much kinder. General.dropChanceBoss is 0.2 when a player kills a boss entity, which is also the mod default. The allowed range for all the drop chances is 0.0 to 1.0.[3]

The Looting enchantment raises the drop chance, because General.applyLooting is enabled in this pack.[3]

Watch out: Player-kill trophies are switched off in this pack. General.dropFromPlayers is false, and the config marks that feature as work in progress. General.dropChancePlayers is set to 1, but the feature itself is disabled.[3]

Automation and machines

Fake players, meaning machines, don't get trophy drops here. General.allowFakePlayer is false in this pack, so an automated mob killer won't give you trophies.[3]

Default look of dropped trophies

A trophy dropped from a mob starts with default settings. The base block is a smooth stone slab, from General.defaultBaseBlock. The scale is 0.5 and the Y offset is 0.5, from General.defaultScale and General.defaultYOffset. Both numbers match the mod defaults.[3]

The config notes that if the base block is a full block, the default Y offset should be 1.0. For slabs it should be 0.5, and for carpets 0.1.[3]

Editing and size limits

Non-opped players can change a trophy's settings, because General.allowNonOpEdit is true in this pack.[3]

There are limits on how far you can push those settings. General.maxSize caps the size multiplier at 20. General.maxYOffset caps the Y offset at 2,000. Both match the mod defaults.[3]

Variant data

The config comment for General.nbtMap says this option has moved to a datamap file. The old value still lists entity data fields for vanilla mobs such as axolotls, cats, wolves, frogs, llamas, horses, foxes, parrots, pandas, mooshrooms and villagers. It also lists some modded entries: a configurable bee, the shroomloin and the basalt giant.[3]

Unverified Which mobs keep their variant (such as colour or type) on a trophy in this pack is not confirmed, because the datamap file that replaced the nbtMap option is not shown in the sources here.

Which Jonn's Trophies config options matter?

3 parts

Same as in the All the Mons 1.3.0 guide

Everything here lives in General.dropFromMobs's file, the server config for the trophy mod. The numeric options in this pack all match the mod's own defaults, so there's nothing hidden that the pack changed on the numbers. Here's what actually decides how trophies behave for you.[4]

Who drops trophies

Drop chances

  • General.dropChanceMobs is 0.02 for normal mobs killed by a player, which is also the mod default. The allowed range is 0.0 to 1.0.[4]
  • General.dropChanceBoss is 0.2 for bosses killed by a player, again the mod default.[4]
  • General.applyLooting is true, so the Looting enchantment increases your drop chance. If you're hunting a specific trophy, a Looting weapon helps.[4]

Trophy appearance and editing

Tip: The General.nbtMap entry still appears in the file, but its own comment says this setting has moved to a data map. Editing that line in the config isn't the way to change which entity variants are tracked.[4]

Unverified The source only lists mod defaults for the numeric options. For the true/false options and the base block, it doesn't say whether the pack changed them from the mod's defaults.
