What is Jonn's Trophies?

Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.0 guide

Jonn's Trophies is included in this pack as version 1.21.1-2.5.0, and it has been part of the pack since version 2.25 or earlier.[1]

Unverified We don't yet have reliable details on what Jonn's Trophies does, who it's aimed at, or which items and blocks it adds. Your best bet for now is to look it up in-game with a recipe viewer. This site does hold All the Mons's own recipes, read from the pack itself: look the item up in the item browser.

Unverified Jonn's Trophies doesn't appear to be on the ATM Star path or in any of this pack's quests, so it's probably an optional side feature rather than part of the main progression.

How do you get started with Jonn's Trophies?

2 parts

Jonn's Trophies adds a Trophy block. In this pack the first thing to know is how trophies reach you, because the pack's config sets that up for you.[2][3]

Trophies drop from mobs

In this pack, General.dropFromMobs is on, so trophies can drop from mobs when a player kills them.[3]

General.applyLooting is also on, so the Looting enchantment raises the drop chance. If you want more trophies, a Looting weapon helps. The sources don't give the base drop chance, so I can't give you numbers.[3]

Trophy base and settings

Trophies dropped by killing a mob use a smooth stone slab as their base block. That comes from General.defaultBaseBlock, set to minecraft:smooth_stone_slab in this pack.[3]

A trophy has settings you can change, and the GUI has an Apply button. General.allowNonOpEdit is true in this pack, so you don't need to be an operator to edit them, which is handy on a server.[2][3]

Tip: Playing with friends? Everyone can edit trophy settings, since non-op editing is allowed in this pack.[3]

How does Jonn's Trophies work?

3 parts

Jonn's Trophies is a simple mod in terms of systems. The only mechanics the available sources describe are how trophies drop and who can edit them. Nothing I can confirm covers machines, multiblocks, power, fluids or item automation, so this section stays short.[3]

How trophies drop

In this pack, General.dropFromMobs is turned on, so mobs killed by a player can drop trophies. The option's description says it applies to kills by a player.[3]

General.applyLooting is also on. That means the Looting enchantment raises the chance of a trophy dropping, so a Looting weapon helps if you are hunting a particular one.[3]

Trophies dropped from a mob kill use the block set in General.defaultBaseBlock as their base. In this pack that is Smooth Stone Slab.[3]

Players and machines

General.dropFromPlayers is off in this pack, so killing another player won't give you a trophy. The config file marks this feature as work in progress.[3]

General.allowFakePlayer is also off. Fake players, which is how machines kill mobs, can't earn trophy drops. A mob farm or automated killing setup therefore won't produce trophies here. You have to make the kill yourself.[3]

Watch out: Don't build an automated mob farm to collect trophies in this pack. Fake-player kills are blocked by the pack's config, so a machine won't earn drops.[3]

Editing trophy settings

General.allowNonOpEdit is on, so players without operator status can change the settings of a trophy. You don't need admin rights to adjust one on a server.[3]

Unverified The sources don't say what the individual trophy settings are, how trophies are placed or displayed, or whether the mod has any machines, multiblocks, power, fluid or item-handling mechanics. None of that is confirmed for this pack.

Which Jonn's Trophies config options matter?

2 parts

Jonn's Trophies keeps its settings in one server config file, and everything below is exactly how this pack has it set. Here are the options you're most likely to care about.[3]

Where trophies drop from

  • General.dropFromMobs is set to true, so trophies can drop from mobs when a player kills them.[3]
  • General.dropFromPlayers is set to false, so killing another player gives no trophy. The config file marks this feature as work in progress.[3]
  • General.applyLooting is set to true, so the Looting enchantment increases your trophy drops.[3]
  • General.allowFakePlayer is set to false, so fake players (machines) can't earn trophy drops. If you were hoping to farm trophies with an automated setup, this is why it won't work.[3]

Trophy appearance and editing

Tip: If you play on a server and don't want everyone changing trophy settings, General.allowNonOpEdit is the option to look at, since the pack leaves it open to all players.[3]

Unverified The pack's config doesn't say which of these values differ from the mod's own defaults, so we can't confirm whether the pack changed any of them.
