What is Thermal Integration?

2 parts

Thermal Integration is the compatibility module of the Thermal Series. It holds the compatibility materials, recipes and enhancements that help the rest of the Thermal Series play better alongside other mods, both common and less common ones.[1]

The goal is to blend style and function without unbalancing the wider modded ecosystem. To keep that in check, the mod has config options that let you quickly disable entire feature sets.[1]

Version in this pack

This pack ships Thermal Integration 11.0.1, built for Minecraft 1.20.1 (file thermal_integration-1.20.1-11.0.1.27.jar). It has been in the pack since version 0.0.45.4 or earlier.[2]

Thermal Integration is one module of a modular series, and the series requires CoFH Core. The other modules cover basics and resources (Foundation), farming and foods (Cultivation), logistics and transport (Dynamics), machinery and industry (Expansion), power tools and gadgets (Innovation), and rails and minecarts (Locomotion).[1]

How do you get started with Thermal Integration?

2 parts

Thermal Integration is the compatibility module of the Thermal Series. It adds materials, recipes and enhancements so Thermal plays well alongside other mods, and it has config options to switch whole feature sets off.[1]

In this pack both of its materials are switched on: [[config:config/thermal_integration-common.toml#Materials.Rose Gold]] and Materials.Steel are set to true. So Rose Gold and Steel items exist in your world.[3]

What you will see

Both materials come with the same kinds of items: an ingot, a nugget, a blend (the dust), a plate, a gear and a coin. Each also has a storage block. In the language file they appear as Rose Gold Ingot, Steel Plate, Steel Gear and so on.[4]

The mod-compatibility options are all on in this pack too, for Create, Mekanism, Immersive Engineering, Tinker's Construct, Refined Storage, Mystical Agriculture, Farmer's Delight, Quark, Biomes O' Plenty, Dyenamics and Redstone Arsenal. Each one only does anything if that mod is loaded. For example, [[config:config/thermal_integration-common.toml#Mod Compatibility.Create]] and [[config:config/thermal_integration-common.toml#Mod Compatibility.Mekanism]] are both set to true.[3]

What to make first

This pack's quest book has no quests for this mod, so there is no guided first step to follow. Use the recipe viewer in game to look up the Rose Gold and Steel items you want.[3][4]

Unverified The in-pack crafting recipes for the Rose Gold and Steel items, and the best order to make them in, are not shown by the sources here. Check the recipe viewer in game, since no quest chapter covers this mod either. This site does hold Project Infinity 0.1's own recipes, read from the pack itself: look the item up in the item browser.

How does Thermal Integration work?

2 parts

Here's the thing to know up front: Thermal Integration doesn't add machines, multiblocks or its own power and fluid systems. It's the compatibility module of the Thermal Series. It holds the extra materials, recipes and enhancements that help Thermal play nicely with other mods, and it comes with config options so whole feature sets can be switched off.[1]

The machinery side of the series lives in a different module (Thermal Expansion is described as the one for machinery and industry). So for machine, energy and automation questions, that's where to look rather than here.[1]

Materials you can toggle

The mod's content is two metal materials, each controlled by one config switch. In this pack both are turned on.[3]

  • [[config:config/thermal_integration-common.toml#Materials.Rose Gold]] is true, so Rose Gold and its recipes are enabled.[3]
  • Materials.Steel is true, so Steel and its recipes are enabled.[3]

Each material comes as the same set of items: Ingot, Nugget, Plate, Gear, Coin and a Blend (the dust form), plus a storage block. So you'll see things like Rose Gold Plate, Steel Gear, Steel Blend and Block of Rose Gold.[4]

Unverified How you obtain these items in the pack (crafting, machine processing or otherwise) isn't confirmed by the available sources.

Mod compatibility switches

The rest of the config is a set of per-mod integration toggles. Each one only does anything if the other mod is actually loaded, and the pack has every one set to true:[3]

  • [[config:config/thermal_integration-common.toml#Mod Compatibility.Biomes O' Plenty]][3]
  • [[config:config/thermal_integration-common.toml#Mod Compatibility.Create]][3]
  • [[config:config/thermal_integration-common.toml#Mod Compatibility.Dyenamics]][3]
  • [[config:config/thermal_integration-common.toml#Mod Compatibility.Farmer's Delight]][3]
  • [[config:config/thermal_integration-common.toml#Mod Compatibility.Immersive Engineering]][3]
  • [[config:config/thermal_integration-common.toml#Mod Compatibility.Mekanism]][3]
  • [[config:config/thermal_integration-common.toml#Mod Compatibility.Mystical Agriculture]][3]
  • [[config:config/thermal_integration-common.toml#Mod Compatibility.Quark]][3]
  • [[config:config/thermal_integration-common.toml#Mod Compatibility.Redstone Arsenal]][3]
  • [[config:config/thermal_integration-common.toml#Mod Compatibility.Refined Storage]][3]
  • [[config:config/thermal_integration-common.toml#Mod Compatibility.Tinker's Construct]][3]
Tip: If one of these integrations ever causes balance trouble in your world, the matching option in the common config is the quick way to turn that whole feature set off. The mod's authors added these switches for exactly that purpose.[1][3]

The specific recipes and enhancements each toggle unlocks aren't spelled out in the available sources, so I can't say what changes for each mod beyond what the option names show.[3]

Which Thermal Integration config options matter?

2 parts

Everything you can tweak for this module lives in one file, config/thermal_integration-common.toml. It has two groups of options: Materials and Mod Compatibility. In this pack every one of them is set to true, so nothing is switched off.[3]

The module's job is to add compatibility materials, recipes and enhancements so the Thermal Series plays well with other mods. The authors also say the config options exist so you can quickly disable entire feature sets, which is handy if you ever want to trim things down.[1]

Materials

  • [[config:config/thermal_integration-common.toml#Materials.Rose Gold]] is true, so the Thermal Series' Rose Gold material and recipes are enabled.[3]
  • Materials.Steel is true, so the Thermal Series' Steel material and recipes are enabled.[3]

Mod Compatibility

Each of these options turns on integration support for one other mod, and each only does anything if that mod is loaded. This pack has all of them set to true.[3]

  • [[config:config/thermal_integration-common.toml#Mod Compatibility.Biomes O' Plenty]] and [[config:config/thermal_integration-common.toml#Mod Compatibility.Quark]][3]
  • [[config:config/thermal_integration-common.toml#Mod Compatibility.Create]] and [[config:config/thermal_integration-common.toml#Mod Compatibility.Immersive Engineering]][3]
  • [[config:config/thermal_integration-common.toml#Mod Compatibility.Mekanism]] and [[config:config/thermal_integration-common.toml#Mod Compatibility.Redstone Arsenal]][3]
  • [[config:config/thermal_integration-common.toml#Mod Compatibility.Refined Storage]] and [[config:config/thermal_integration-common.toml#Mod Compatibility.Tinker's Construct]][3]
  • [[config:config/thermal_integration-common.toml#Mod Compatibility.Mystical Agriculture]], [[config:config/thermal_integration-common.toml#Mod Compatibility.Farmer's Delight]] and [[config:config/thermal_integration-common.toml#Mod Compatibility.Dyenamics]][3]
Tip: If you want to remove one mod's Thermal crossover content, set its Mod Compatibility option to false in config/thermal_integration-common.toml. The same goes for Rose Gold or Steel under Materials.[1][3]

Unverified The sources do not show the mod's default values for these options, so it is unconfirmed whether the pack changed any of them.
