How do you get started with Enchantment Limiter?
3 parts
Same as in the Project Infinity 0.1 0.0.51.4-hotfix-2 guide
Enchantment Limiter turns enchanting into a budget. Every item has a pool of enchantment points, and each enchantment you add spends some of them. The crystals are how you make that pool bigger, so they are the first things to craft here.[1][2]
Check your starting budget
In this pack an item starts with 20 points, set by [[config:defaultconfigs/enchantlimiter-server.toml#enchantability.base points]]. The pack also sets [[config:defaultconfigs/enchantlimiter-server.toml#enchantability.points per enchantability]] to 0, so an item's own enchantability adds nothing extra to that pool (the mod default is 0.5).[2]
Costs are set per enchantment. Adding a new enchantment has a base cost of 0 by default, and each extra level costs 1. The pack overrides a few enchantments: Mending has a base cost of 8 and no per-level cost, Sharpness costs 1 plus 1 per level, and Vanishing Curse has a base cost of -4, so it gives points back.[2]
Craft the crystals in order
The crystals form a chain of four tiers, and each tier is built from the one before it. Start with the Common Crystal. The pack changed this recipe from the mod's default, so use the one below.[3]

| any iron ingot | any iron ingot |

Next comes the Uncommon Crystal, which uses a Common Crystal as its base. This recipe is also changed by the pack.[3]
Crafting Shaped
| any gold ingot | any gold ingot | any gold ingot |
| any gold ingot | any emerald gem | any gold ingot |
Recipe id: enchantlimiter:uncommon_crystal
The Rare Crystal and Legendary Crystal are not in the base mod. The pack adds both recipes, and they are a big step up in cost. The Rare Crystal is made from Uncommon Crystals, and the Legendary Crystal from Rare Crystals, so you can't skip tiers.[3]

Why the order matters
The pack makes each tier worth far more than the mod's defaults. Here are the values from the config, with the defaults in brackets:[2]
- Common: 5 (default 1), set by crystals.common_crystal_value.[2]
- Uncommon: 20 (default 3), set by crystals.uncommon_crystal_value.[2]
- Rare: 100 (default 5), set by crystals.rare_crystal_value.[2]
- Legendary: 980 (default 10), set by crystals.legendary_crystal_value.[2]
Each crystal's tooltip says it increases enchantment capacity by a number of points, so hover over one in your inventory to see what it gives you.[1]
Unverified How you apply a crystal to an item is not confirmed in the available sources, so check in-game before you spend rare materials.
Which Enchantment Limiter config options matter?
3 parts
Same as in the Project Infinity 0.1 0.0.51.4-hotfix-2 guide
Enchantment Limiter gives each item a pool of enchantment points, and enchantments spend them. This pack keeps the main settings in its server config, with a small client config for tooltips. Several values differ from the mod defaults, so here is what this pack actually uses.[2][4]
Enchantment points
- general.enabled is true, so the limiter is on globally. That matches the default.[2]
- [[config:defaultconfigs/enchantlimiter-server.toml#enchantability.base points]] is 20, which is also the mod default. This is how many points an item starts with.[2]
- [[config:defaultconfigs/enchantlimiter-server.toml#enchantability.points per enchantability]] is 0 in this pack. The mod default is 0.5. The option controls how much each point of an item's enchantability adds to its point pool, so in this pack it adds nothing.[2]
- [[config:defaultconfigs/enchantlimiter-server.toml#enchantability.base cost]] is 0, the same as the default. It is the cost to add a new enchantment onto an item.[2]
- [[config:defaultconfigs/enchantlimiter-server.toml#enchantability.incremental cost]] is 1. It is the cost to add one level to an existing enchantment on the item. An enchantment with level 1 applies both the base cost and the incremental cost, once each.[2]
- enchantability.enchantments overrides costs for specific enchantments, written as name, base cost, incremental cost. Mending is 8 and 0, sharpness is 1 and 1, and vanishing curse is -4 and 0.[2]
- [[config:defaultconfigs/enchantlimiter-server.toml#enchantability.blacklisted enchantments]] is empty, so no enchantment is blacklisted.[2]
- enchantability.granularity is 0.1. If a point total lands within that distance of a whole number, it is rounded to the whole number.[2]
- [[config:defaultconfigs/enchantlimiter-server.toml#enchantability.custom items]] gives certain items their own point cap, written as name, base enchantability, increment. The pack sets every entry to 2 and 0. They are the matc crystals (inferium, prudentium, tertium, imperium and supremium), the Ex Deorum meshes (string, flint, iron, golden, diamond and netherite), and the kubejs allthemodium and vibranium meshes.[2]
Crystals
[[config:defaultconfigs/enchantlimiter-server.toml#crystals.enable crystals]] is true, so crystal items stay enabled. The pack raised the crystal values well above the defaults:[2]
- crystals.common_crystal_value: 5 (default 1).[2]
- crystals.uncommon_crystal_value: 20 (default 3).[2]
- crystals.rare_crystal_value: 100 (default 5).[2]
- crystals.legendary_crystal_value: 980 (default 10).[2]
[[config:defaultconfigs/enchantlimiter-server.toml#crystals.crystal blacklist]] lists everything from the exdeorum and matc namespaces, plus the kubejs allthemodium mesh and vibranium mesh. Entries can be an exact item, a tag, or a whole namespace with a wildcard.[2]
Tooltips
In the client config, tooltip.show_only_number is true. Its default there is false, so the pack changed it. It shows a single number on book tooltips instead of used/total. tooltip.positive_color_red is true, which is the default. Positive point values show in red and negative values in green.[4]
The server config has its own tooltip.show_only_number and tooltip.positive_color_red, both true. With the number-only option on, enchanted items and books show the points they consume, and non-enchanted items show their total.[2]
