What is ElevatorMod?
2 parts
Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.1 guide
ElevatorMod is a simple port of the elevator from OpenBlocks to Minecraft 1.8 and newer. It gives you blocks that teleport you straight up or down between floors, with no stairs or ladders needed.[1]
The pack includes ElevatorMod 1.21.1-1.11.4 for NeoForge.[2]
How it works
Place two or more elevators at the same X and Z coordinates. Jump to go to the elevator above, or sneak to go to the one below.[1]
Right-click an elevator with an empty hand to open its options screen. From there you can turn on the Directional option, which sets the yaw rotation of players who teleport to that elevator. It also shows an arrow on the elevator, and you can hide the arrow with the Hide arrow checkbox. This only changes which way you face, not how you move.[1]
You can also camouflage an elevator by right-clicking it with a solid block. Most blocks work, but some, like a chest, don't because they use a different rendering method. Any elevator can be re-dyed too.[1]
Configuration
The config is per-world and lives at serverconfig/elevatorid-server.toml inside the world folder. The mod's own defaults give elevators a range of 384 (allowed values run from 3 to 4064), no XP cost, and no requirement for matching colors. If you turn on the XP option, the default cost is 1 XP point per teleport (points, not levels). The sources here don't show whether the pack changes any of these values, so treat them as the mod's defaults.[1]
How do you get started with ElevatorMod?
4 parts
Good news: this mod is simple. The whole thing is one block, the elevator, and it comes in a full set of dye colours. Here is what to do first, in order.[3][4]
Craft your first two elevators
An elevator needs a partner, so make at least two. The White Elevator is a good place to start, and every other colour has its own crafting recipe in the pack.[1][3]
Crafting Shaped
Recipe id: elevatorid:elevator_white
White is just one example. Every other colour has its own recipe in the pack.
Place them in a line
Put two or more elevators at the same X and Z coordinates, one above the other. To go up to the elevator above, jump. To go down to the one below, sneak.[1]
Switch colours without starting over
Made the wrong colour? You can re-dye any elevator. The pack has a shapeless recipe for each colour, so you never have to craft a new one from scratch.[1][3]
Crafting Shapeless
- any elevator
- any white dye
Recipe id: elevatorid:redye_white
Re-dyeing to white. Every colour has a matching redye recipe in the pack.
Tweak each elevator
Right-click an elevator with an empty hand to open the Elevator Options screen.[1][4]
- Directional: when this checkbox is on, players who teleport to that elevator are turned to face the direction you pick (N, E, S or W). It only changes where the player looks, not how they move.[1][4]
- Hide arrow: a directional elevator shows an arrow on top to indicate its direction. Tick this checkbox to hide it.[1][4]
- Camouflage: right-click an elevator with a solid block in your hand to disguise it. Most blocks work, but not everything. A chest, for example, can't be used because it renders differently. The Remove camouflage button on the options screen undoes it.[1][4]
Unverified The mod page says the elevator range, whether elevators must share a colour, and an optional XP cost for teleporting are set in a per-world server config file called elevatorid-server.toml. The sources here do not show this pack's values for those options, so check in-game before you plan a very tall tower.
How does ElevatorMod work?
5 parts
ElevatorMod is a simple port of the elevator from OpenBlocks. What the sources describe is a single block that comes in a range of colours, so the mechanics are about how elevators link up and what you can set on each one.[1][4]
Moving between elevators
Place two or more elevators at the same X and Z coordinates, stacked at different heights. Jump to go to the elevator above, or sneak to go to the one below.[1]
The mod also has settings for the elevator range, for requiring matching colours, and for charging XP to teleport. They are covered in the configuration part below.[1]
Crafting and re-dyeing
Each colour has its own crafting recipe in the pack. Here is the Red Elevator as an example.[3]
Crafting Shaped
Recipe id: elevatorid:elevator_red
You can also re-dye an existing elevator into another colour with a shapeless recipe, so you never need to craft a new one from scratch just to change its colour. Here is the red version.[1][3]
The options screen
Right-click an elevator with an empty hand to open the Elevator Options screen.[1][4]
- Directional: when this checkbox is on, a player who teleports to that elevator has their yaw rotation adjusted to the configured direction. It only changes which way you face, not your horizontal movement.[1][4]
- E, N, S, W buttons: click one to choose the direction. The order of the buttons matches the way the player is currently facing.[1][4]
- Hide arrow: a directional elevator shows an arrow to indicate the direction it is facing, and this checkbox hides it.[1][4]
- Remove camouflage: removes the camouflage from the elevator (see below).[4]
Camouflage
Right-click an elevator while holding a solid block to camouflage it with that block. Most blocks work, with some exceptions. A chest, for example, cannot be used because it uses a different rendering method.[1]
Configuration
The mod's config file is per world and lives at serverconfig/elevatorid-server.toml inside the world folder. The values below are the mod's own defaults from its project page, not confirmed values for this pack.[1]
- sameColor is false by default, so elevators do not need to share a colour to teleport.[1]
- range is 384 by default, and it can be set between 3 and 4064.[1]
- precisionTarget is true by default and realigns players to the centre of the elevator.[1]
- mobSpawn is false by default, so mobs cannot spawn on elevators.[1]
- resetPitchNormal is false and resetPitchDirectional is true by default. They control whether your pitch is reset to 0 when you teleport to normal or directional elevators.[1]
- useXP is false by default. When it is enabled, XPPointsAmount sets the cost, which is 1 by default. It counts experience points, not levels.[1]
Unverified Whether this pack changes any of these defaults is not shown by the sources here. The values are set in the world's serverconfig/elevatorid-server.toml file, so check that file in game to see what is actually in use.
How do you progress through ElevatorMod?
2 parts
Good news: there is no tier ladder to climb with this mod. In the pack's recipes, elevators come in one version per dye colour, for example White Elevator, Red Elevator and Black Elevator. None of the recipes upgrades one elevator into a better one, so every colour is available from the start.[3]
Crafting an elevator
Each colour has its own crafting recipe. Here is the White Elevator, and the other colours follow the same pattern with their own colour.[3]
Crafting Shaped
Recipe id: elevatorid:elevator_white
Changing colour later
If you built with the wrong colour, you don't have to start over. There is a separate re-dye recipe for every colour that takes any elevator and turns it into the colour you want. Here is the one for red.[3]
