ElevatorMod is a mod in FTB Skies 2 1.24.0, where it is version 1.21.1-1.11.4. Simple port of the elevator from OpenBlocks to 1.8+ (Summary from the mod's Modrinth page.)

What is ElevatorMod?

2 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.1 guide

ElevatorMod is a simple port of the elevator from OpenBlocks to Minecraft 1.8 and newer. It gives you blocks that teleport you straight up or down between floors, with no stairs or ladders needed.[1]

The pack includes ElevatorMod 1.21.1-1.11.4 for NeoForge.[2]

How it works

Place two or more elevators at the same X and Z coordinates. Jump to go to the elevator above, or sneak to go to the one below.[1]

Right-click an elevator with an empty hand to open its options screen. From there you can turn on the Directional option, which sets the yaw rotation of players who teleport to that elevator. It also shows an arrow on the elevator, and you can hide the arrow with the Hide arrow checkbox. This only changes which way you face, not how you move.[1]

You can also camouflage an elevator by right-clicking it with a solid block. Most blocks work, but some, like a chest, don't because they use a different rendering method. Any elevator can be re-dyed too.[1]

Configuration

The config is per-world and lives at serverconfig/elevatorid-server.toml inside the world folder. The mod's own defaults give elevators a range of 384 (allowed values run from 3 to 4064), no XP cost, and no requirement for matching colors. If you turn on the XP option, the default cost is 1 XP point per teleport (points, not levels). The sources here don't show whether the pack changes any of these values, so treat them as the mod's defaults.[1]

How do you get started with ElevatorMod?

4 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.1 guide

ElevatorMod gives you one simple thing: a fast way to move up and down between floors. It is a port of the elevator from OpenBlocks, so your first job is to craft a couple of elevators.[1]

Step 1: craft your first elevators

You need at least two elevators, because one on its own has nowhere to send you. In this pack each colour has its own crafting recipe. Here is White Elevator as an example.[1][3]

White ElevatorMod recipe

Crafting Shaped

Crafting Shaped
White WoolWhite WoolWhite Wool
White WoolEnder PearlWhite Wool
White WoolWhite WoolWhite Wool

Recipe id: elevatorid:elevator_white

Every other colour has its own recipe following the same pattern.

Step 2: place them and ride

  1. Place two or more elevators at the same X and Z coordinates, one above the other.[1]
  2. Stand on an elevator and jump to travel to the elevator above.[1]
  3. Sneak to travel to the elevator below.[1]

Step 3: re-dye instead of crafting again

If you want a different colour, you don't need to start over. This pack has shapeless re-dye recipes that turn an existing elevator into another colour with a dye. Here is the one for Red Elevator.[3]

Red ElevatorMod recipe

Crafting Shapeless

  • any elevator
  • any red dye

Recipe id: elevatorid:redye_red

Any elevator can be the input, and each colour has its own re-dye recipe.

Useful extras

  • Right-click an elevator with an empty hand to open its options interface.[1]
  • Turn on the Directional checkbox and the elevator will adjust the yaw rotation of players who teleport to it, based on the direction you set. It only changes which way you face, not how you move horizontally. An arrow on the elevator shows that direction, and the Hide arrow checkbox removes it.[1]
  • Right-click an elevator while holding a solid block to camouflage it as that block. Most blocks work, but some, such as a chest, can't be used because they render differently.[1]

How does ElevatorMod work?

5 parts

ElevatorMod has no power, fluids, multiblocks or item handling to set up. The whole mod is one family of elevator blocks, and everything about how it works is in how they teleport you, what the options screen does, and a handful of config values. This pack ships 16 colours, and all of them are in the elevator block and item tags.[1][4][5]

Moving between elevators

Place two or more elevators on the same X and Z coordinates. Jump to go to the elevator above you, or sneak to go to the one below.[1]

How far apart they can be is set by General.range. In this pack it is 384, the same as the mod default, and the allowed range for the setting is 3 to 4,064.[1][6]

The pack's config also has General.activationRange, described as the elevator activation range. It is set to 6, which is the mod default, and it accepts values from 1 to 64.[6]

Colours and re-dyeing

By default the colour of an elevator does not matter for teleporting, because General.sameColor is false in this pack. If you turn it on, elevators need to share a colour to teleport you between them, so you could run separate colour-coded shafts on the same column.[6]

Each colour has its own crafting recipe, and you can also re-dye any elevator you already have. Here is the black one as an example, followed by its re-dye recipe.[1][7]

Black ElevatorMod recipe

Crafting Shaped

Crafting Shaped
Black WoolBlack WoolBlack Wool
Black WoolEnder PearlBlack Wool
Black WoolBlack WoolBlack Wool

Recipe id: elevatorid:elevator_black

Every colour follows the same pattern with its matching wool in this pack.

Black ElevatorMod recipe

Crafting Shapeless

  • any elevator
  • any black dye

Recipe id: elevatorid:redye_black

Re-dyeing works on any elevator and turns it into the dye's colour.

Each elevator block drops itself when broken, so you can pick one up and move it without losing it.[8][9][10]

The options screen

Right-click an elevator with an empty hand to open the Elevator Options screen.[1][11]

  • Directional: when this checkbox is on, the elevator turns players who teleport to it to face the direction you chose. This only changes where the player is facing and has nothing to do with horizontal movement.[1][11]
  • Direction buttons (N, E, S, W): click one to pick the direction. The order of the buttons matches the way you are currently facing.[1][11]
  • Hide arrow: a directional elevator shows an arrow on top to indicate its direction, and this checkbox hides it.[1][11]
  • Remove camouflage: clears any camouflage block you have applied (see below).[11]

Camouflage

To disguise an elevator, right-click it while holding the block you want. Most solid blocks work, with some exceptions. A chest, for example, will not work because it uses a different rendering method. Use Remove camouflage in the options screen to undo it.[1][11]

Pack settings that change the feel

Every value in the pack's config matches the defaults listed on the mod's project page, so the pack leaves the mod's behaviour unchanged.[1][6]

How do you progress through ElevatorMod?

2 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.2 guide

Good news: this one is simple. In this pack the recipes for ElevatorMod are colour variants, one elevator block for each dye colour, and they all follow the same crafting pattern. Only the colour changes, so there is no ladder to climb.[12][13]

Crafting your first elevator

Each colour has its own shaped recipe in the mod's own recipe set. Here is the White Elevator as an example. Every other colour uses the same pattern with its own colour.[12]

White ElevatorMod recipe

Crafting Shaped

Crafting Shaped
White WoolWhite WoolWhite Wool
White WoolEnder PearlWhite Wool
White WoolWhite WoolWhite Wool

Recipe id: elevatorid:elevator_white

Every other colour has its own shaped recipe built the same way.

Changing colours

You don't have to craft from scratch to get a different colour. Each colour also has a shapeless redye recipe that takes a dye and any elevator from the elevators tag, and gives you the elevator in that dye's colour. Here is the Red Elevator version.[12][13]

Red ElevatorMod recipe

Crafting Shapeless

  • any elevator
  • any red dye

Recipe id: elevatorid:redye_red

Use a different dye to get that colour of elevator instead.

The full set of colours is White Elevator, Light Gray Elevator, Gray Elevator, Black Elevator, Brown Elevator, Red Elevator, Orange Elevator, Yellow Elevator, Lime Elevator, Green Elevator, Cyan Elevator, Light Blue Elevator, Blue Elevator, Purple Elevator, Magenta Elevator and Pink Elevator.[12][13]

Which ElevatorMod config options matter?

4 parts

Same as in the FTB Skies 2 1.22.0 guide

ElevatorMod has a small server config, and this pack leaves the important numbers at the mod's own defaults. Nothing here is a pack-specific tweak, so you can treat the mod's normal behavior as how it works in the pack.[1][14]

Range and activation

  • General.range is the elevator range. The pack sets it to 384, which is the mod default. The allowed range is 3 to 4,064.[14]
  • General.activationRange is the elevator activation range. The pack sets it to 6, which is the mod default. The allowed range is 1 to 64.[14]

XP cost

  • General.useXP controls whether teleporting costs XP. In this pack it is false, so elevators are free to use.[14]
  • General.XPPointsAmount only matters if you turn useXP on. It is set to 1, the mod default, and it counts XP points, not experience levels.[14]

Colors, targeting and mobs

Camera pitch

Tip: Directional elevators are set up in the elevator's options screen, which you open by right-clicking it with an empty hand. The pitch reset above only applies to elevators set to directional.[1][14]

Unverified The sources don't confirm the mod's own defaults for mobSpawn, resetPitchDirectional, resetPitchNormal, useXP or XPPointsAmount beyond what is noted above, so whether the pack changed any of those from the mod default is unverified.

What changed in ElevatorMod between versions?

1 part

FTB Skies 2 1.23.0 ships ElevatorMod 1.21.1-1.11.4, and the mod has been in the pack since FTB Skies 2 1.0.1 or earlier. So whichever pack version you started on, you have had elevators from the start.[15]

ElevatorMod 1.11.4

This is the version in the pack right now, and it is a patch fix aimed at people playing with controllers. It contains two changes:[15][16]

  • Improved controller compatibility (issue #132 in the mod's changelog).[16]
  • A backport of the activation range config option.[16]

The changelog doesn't say what the option's default is, which config file holds it, or whether FTB Skies 2 changes it, so check the config in your own instance before relying on any particular range.[16]

I have no pack changelog entries that mention ElevatorMod, so there are no pack-specific changes to report for it.[15]
