Blocks Booster is a mod in Project Infinity 0.1 0.0.51.4-hotfix-2, where it is version 1.0.15. Boost your machines with Forge Energy (Summary from the mod's Modrinth page.)

What is Blocks Booster?

2 parts

Blocks Booster speeds up other blocks by boosting their tick rate, and it runs on Forge Energy. It is built so that people can't wreck server TPS by spamming boosters, because it ships with config options for lag prevention. This pack includes version 1.0.15 of the mod.[1][2]

The boosters

These are the values the mod's project page lists for each booster. The page says they are configurable.[1]

Where it sits in the quest book

In the pack's quest book, the chapter "Useful mods and Items" has a Blocks Booster quest, a quest in "Useful mods and Items". It asks you to get all four boosters: the three Forge Energy tiers and the mana booster.[1][3]

In that chapter's quest listing, the quest just before it is a quest in "Useful mods and Items", an untitled checkmark quest, and the one right after it is the Heart Canister quest, "Heart Canister" quest.[3]

Unverified Whether the ATM Star path uses Blocks Booster is not shown in the sources here, so check the quest book itself if you are following that path.

How do you get started with Blocks Booster?

5 parts

Blocks Booster speeds up the tick rate of the machine blocks it touches, and it runs on Forge Energy. In this pack the quest book covers it in a single quest, a quest in "Useful mods and Items", in the chapter "Useful mods and Items" (chapter 3 of 44). That quest asks for all four boosters, so that is your checklist.[1][3]

Step 1: Tier 1

Start with Block Booster Tier 1. It boosts only the blocks above and below it, at a boost rate of 2 in this pack. It is also the base for the other boosters, so you will want it first.[4][5]

Step 2: Tier 2

Next comes Block Booster Tier 2. It boosts up to 6 blocks around it, and its boost rate is 5.[4][5]

Step 3: Tier 3

Block Booster Tier 3 is the big one: a boost rate of 10 across every block in a scan radius of 3. The radius is set by General.t3_scan_radius.[4][5]

Optional: the Mana Block Booster

Mana Block Booster is a side branch off Tier 1, so you don't need Tier 2 or Tier 3 to make it. It runs on mana instead of Forge Energy, boosts up to 6 blocks around it and has a boost rate of 5. This pack sets its cost to 50,000 mana per tick.[4][5][6]

Watch out: The pack raised the energy costs a lot. Tier 1 needs 50,000,000 FE per tick, Tier 2 needs 100,000,000 and Tier 3 needs 1,009,317,314. The mod's own defaults are only 5,000, 10,000 and 20,000, so plan your power supply before you place one. The mana cost is also higher than the default of 100 per tick.[1][5]

Limits to know about

Tip: If you need the id of a block for the white list or black list, the mod's project page suggests the command /booster_show_block_id.[1]

How does Blocks Booster work?

5 parts

Block Boosters speed up the tick rate of the machine block next to them, so that machine works faster. The mod's project page describes them as Forge Energy boosters with config options to stop players from wrecking server TPS. In this pack the energy costs are far higher than the mod's defaults, so read the numbers below before you plan a build.[1][5]

The four boosters

There are four blocks: three energy tiers and a mana version. Here are the pack's values, taken from the config file.[4][5]

Watch out: The project page lists much smaller defaults: 5,000, 10,000 and 20,000 FE per tick for tiers 1 to 3, and 100 mana per tick for the Mana Booster. This pack's config sets different values, listed above. Use the pack's numbers, not the page's.[1][5]

Crafting chain

The boosters are an upgrade line. Tier 2 is crafted from a Tier 1 booster, Tier 3 from a Tier 2 booster, and the Mana Booster from a Tier 1 booster.[6]

Controls and the booster screen

Each booster has a screen with a Boost checkbox, and it shows a Disabled state. The energy boosters show their stored energy in FE and the Mana Booster shows its mana. The screen also reports the boost time in milliseconds, and the message "Slow block - not boosting" when the target is too slow to boost.[4]

A redstone signal switches a booster off, because General.deactivate_with_redstone is true in this pack.[1][5]

Lag protection

Several safety systems are active in this pack, so boosters can't be stacked without limit.[5]

Whitelist and blacklist

You can control which block entities get boosted with two lists. The General.white_list has higher priority than the General.black_list, and in this pack the whitelist is empty. Entries are block ids or block tags.[5]

The pack fills the blacklist with a tag from Mekanism's cardboard blacklist, Mystical Agriculture's ultimate seeds, Industrial Foregoing Souls entries, Avaritia neutron collectors, Project Expansion power flowers and Solar Flux panels. So don't expect boosters to work on those. The project page's default blacklist is different, so the pack's list is the one that applies.[1][5]

Tip: Not sure of a block's id for the lists? The project page says to try the command /booster_show_block_id.[1]

How do you progress through Blocks Booster?

6 parts

Blocks Booster has a short, linear progression: three numbered tiers, plus a Mana version. You can follow all of it from one quest in the pack's quest book.[3][6]

Where the quest book puts it

The pack's quest book has one quest for this mod, a quest in "Useful mods and Items", in the "Useful mods and Items" chapter (chapter 3 of 44 in the book, 37 quests). The quest asks you to obtain four items: Block Booster Tier 1, Block Booster Tier 2, Block Booster Tier 3 and Mana Block Booster.[3][6]

The tier chain

The recipe dump lists all four crafts as normal mod recipes, and nothing in it shows the pack changing them. Each tier is made in a crafting table, and the higher tiers are built from the tier below.[3][6]

Tier 1

Block Booster Tier 1 is the entry point. It is the only booster that doesn't need another booster to craft.[6]

Mana Block Booster

Mana Block Booster is a branch off the chain, not a fourth step. Its recipe starts from a Tier 1 booster, so you don't need to make Tier 2 or Tier 3 first.[6]

Tip: The quest wants all four items, so make Tier 1, Tier 2, Tier 3 and the Mana booster. Since Mana only needs a Tier 1 booster, you can craft Tier 1 once, branch off to Mana, and make a second Tier 1 for the Tier 2 and Tier 3 steps.[3][6]

Which Project Infinity 0.1 quests use Blocks Booster?

1 part

Blocks Booster has a single quest in the pack's quest book, so there is no chain of chapters to follow. It sits in the chapter "Useful mods and Items", which is chapter 3 of 44 in the book and holds 37 quests.[3]

The quest is a quest in "Useful mods and Items". The book gives it no title of its own, so it is named after the item it asks for. It has no description text either.[3]

What the quest asks for

The quest has four item tasks, one for each booster in the mod:[3]

The tasks are listed from Tier 1 up to Tier 3, with the Mana Block Booster last. The quest data doesn't say whether you have to hand them in in that order, so you can collect them as you get them.[3]

Other quests in the same chapter cover unrelated utility mods, such as "Magnet" quest and "Building Gadget" quest. None of them ask for anything from this mod.[3]

Which Blocks Booster config options matter?

4 parts

Everything for this mod lives in config/blockbooster-common.toml. The big story in this pack: the boosters cost far more energy than the mod's defaults, while the speed multipliers stay the same.[1][5]

Energy costs (changed by the pack)

Watch out: Plan your power before you place a Tier 3 booster: it asks for 1,009,317,314 FE per tick in this pack.[5]

Boost rates and range (same as the defaults)

The speed multipliers match what the mod ships with: General.t1_boost_rate is 2, General.t2_boost_rate is 5, General.t3_boost_rate is 10 and General.mana_booster_rate is 5. The Tier 3 scan radius, General.t3_scan_radius, is 3 (it scans a cube, and the allowed range is 1 to 10).[1][5]

Limits and lag protection

Blacklist and whitelist

General.black_list stops certain blocks from being boosted. In this pack it includes the mekanism cardboard blacklist tag, Mystical Agriculture's ultimate seeds, Avaritia's neutron collectors, Project Expansion's power flowers, and Solar Flux's solar panels, from the basic tiers up to the Avaritia neutronium and infinity ones. It also covers two Industrial Foregoing Souls blocks, the soul network pipe and soul surge.[5]

General.white_list is empty. If you ever add entries, the file notes that the whitelist has higher priority than the blacklist.[5]

What changed in Blocks Booster between versions?

1 part

Project Infinity 0.1 0.0.51.4-hotfix-2 ships Blocks Booster 1.0.15. The mod has been in the pack for a while: it was first included in Project Infinity 0.1 0.0.45.4 or earlier, so I can't pin down the exact release where it arrived.[2]

Blocks Booster 1.0.15

This is the version you get in this pack release. The mod's own changelog for it is short, with two entries:[2][7]

  • Removed the MM mixin.[7]
  • Minor fixes.[7]

The changelog doesn't say what the minor fixes were, so there's nothing gameplay-facing to flag here.[7]
