What is Simply Light?
Same as in the All the Mods 10 2.16 guide
Simply Light is in the pack at version 1.4.6+1.21-b53 (file simplylight-1.4.6+1.21-b53.jar). It has been part of the pack since version 0.32 or earlier, so it isn't a recent addition.[1]
Unverified The sources I have don't describe what Simply Light adds, who it is aimed at, or how it fits into the pack's progression. I also have no confirmed recipes, config options or quests for it, and no guidebook, so I'm not guessing at any of that. I'll fill this in once there is something to back it up.
How do you get started with Simply Light?
5 parts
Same as in the FTB Skies 2 1.22.0 guide
This mod adds lighting blocks, and the recipes shown here are all crafting recipes. Here is the order I'd go in, starting with the light bulb.[2]
First: Simple Light Bulb
Start with the Simple Light Bulb. One craft gives you 8 of them.[2]

Next: Illuminant Block
Next, make the Illuminant Block. This craft gives you 4 blocks, and the mod describes it as a simple light block.[2][3]

If you want the inverted version, Illuminant Block(Inverted), you can craft it directly for 4 blocks, or turn an Illuminant Block into it with a single-item shapeless recipe.[2]

The reverse swap, back to the normal block, is also a one-item recipe.[2]
Then: Dynamic Edge Light
The Dynamic Edge Light (bottom) is great for hallways. One craft makes 6. When you place it, it morphs to follow the blocks around it, and that shape stays afterward. That means you can shape it using temporary blocks.[2][3]

There is also a top version, Dynamic Edge Light (top), and you can swap between the two with shapeless recipes.[2]

Colors
Once you have edge lights, you can recolor them with a dye recipe that makes 8 per craft, for example Dynamic Blue Edge Light (bottom).[2]

Panels are made from slabs, for example Illuminant Black Panel from Illuminant Black Slab. The plain Illuminant Slab has its own recipe too.[2]

Finally: fixtures, rods and columns
When you want more decorative options, the mod also has the Illuminant Fixture, which makes 6 per craft, and the Illuminant Rod, which makes 8.[2]

How does Simply Light work?
4 parts
The sources for Simply Light explain how its light blocks are placed, converted and crafted in this pack. There are no machines, power or automation here, so this section covers how each block family behaves.[4][5]
Dynamic edge lights
The Dynamic Edge Light (bottom) and Dynamic Edge Light (top) follow the walls around them, which makes them great for hallways. They morph depending on the blocks present around them at the moment you place them.[4]
The shape persists after placement. That means you can set down temporary blocks, place the light to get the shape you want, then remove the temporary blocks.[4]

Makes 6 bottom edge lights per craft.
The bottom and top versions convert into each other with a single-item shapeless craft, so you can switch orientation without crafting a new batch.[5]

Dyeing an edge light gives you 8 of the colored version per craft. The blue one is shown here, and the other colors have their own dyed recipes.[5]

Illuminant blocks and the inverted toggle
The Illuminant Block is described as a simple light block that activates, and its inverted twin Illuminant Block(Inverted) is described as deactivating instead. You can craft either one directly, 4 per craft.[4][5]

Panels, slabs, bulbs and columns
- Panels, such as the Illuminant Blue Panel, are simple LED panel lights that you can place in any direction.[4]
- Slabs, such as the Illuminant Blue Slab, are half-slab lights that you can also place in any direction.[4]
- The Simple Light Bulb is a plain light bulb that you can place in any direction. One craft makes 8.[4][5]
- The Illuminant Column (Illuminant Column) is a 3 block tall lamp post, and only the top block emits light. One craft makes 2.[4][5]
- The Illuminant Rod (Illuminant Rod) is crafted 8 at a time.[5]
Slabs can be split back into panels. One slab gives you 6 panels, and each color has its own split recipe. The blue one is shown here.[5]

Pack-specific behavior
How do you progress through Simply Light?
3 parts
Same as in the FTB Skies 2 1.22.0 guide
In this pack, Simply Light has no tiers to climb. What the recipes show is a short crafting chain: you make a base light, then branch into colours, flips between variants and smaller shapes. Here is how that chain runs.[2]
The base lights
Every base light has its own recipe, so you can start with whichever one you like. Here is what each craft gives you.[2]

Recipe id: simplylight:rodlamp
One craft makes 8 Illuminant Rods.
The Illuminant Column is the odd one out. Its recipe takes an item from the mod's any_lamp_on group as an input, so make some of your other lamps first. One craft gives you 2 Illuminant Columns.[2]

Craft this after your other lamps, since it uses one of them.
Colours and variants
Once you have edge lights, you can recolour them. Each dye recipe takes any edge light plus a dye and gives you 8 lights in that colour. Here is the black one as an example, and the other colours follow the same pattern.[2]
Crafting Shaped
| any any edge light | any any edge light | any any edge light |

| any any edge light | any any edge light | any any edge light |
Recipe id: simplylight:edge_light_black_dyed
One craft makes 8 Dynamic Black Edge Light (bottom).
The top versions of the edge lights have their own dye recipes too. They take any top edge light and give you 8 lights per craft.[2]

| any any edge light top | any any edge light top | any any edge light top |
Recipe id: simplylight:edge_light_top_black_dyed
The top version of the black edge light, 8 per craft.
You can swap an edge light between its bottom and top forms with a single-item shapeless craft, and back again. Illuminant Blocks work the same way: each block and its Inverted version convert into each other.[2]
Turns a bottom edge light into a top one.
Crafting Shapeless
Recipe id: simplylight:edge_light_bottom_from_top
Turns a top edge light back into a bottom one.
Crafting Shapeless
Recipe id: simplylight:illuminant_block_on_toggle
Turns an Illuminant Block into its Inverted version.
Splitting slabs into panels
The last step is the panel. Put one Illuminant Slab in the recipe and you get 6 Illuminant Panels, and each colour of slab has its own matching split recipe.[2]
Crafting Shaped
Recipe id: simplylight:illuminant_panel_split
One slab makes 6 Illuminant Panel.
Across the mod, the recipe dump counts 160 shaped crafting recipes and 50 shapeless ones, which is why you will find so many colour and toggle variants.[2]
