What is GeOre Nouveau?

Same as in the FTB Skies 2 1.22.0 guide

GeOre Nouveau is one of the mods bundled in the pack. This pack ships version 0.5.9, using the file GeOre_Nouveau-1.21.1-0.5.9.jar, which is built for Minecraft 1.21.1.[1]

Unverified The sources I have don't describe what GeOre Nouveau does, who it is aimed at, or any of its items, recipes or configs, so I'm not guessing at them here. Check the mod in-game before relying on any specific behavior.

Unverified The sources don't show any quests in this pack that involve the mod, and they don't place it on the ATM Star path. Treat it as something outside the guided progression until a source says otherwise.

How do you get started with GeOre Nouveau?

2 parts

GeOre Nouveau adds ore-themed tools and helpers, with a version for each of many resources, from Coal and Iron to Allthemodium and Vibranium. The item families to know are the dowsing rods and the golem charms.[2]

Start with a dowsing rod

The dowsing rod is the natural first item. Using it grants Magic Find and Scrying, which makes magical creatures glow and reveals the matching GeOre through blocks. For example, the Aluminum GeOre Dowsing Rod reveals Aluminum GeOre, and the Allthemodium GeOre Dowsing Rod does the same for Allthemodium GeOre.[2]

The rods have a bonus use too. You can use one on an Imbuement Chamber or an Enchanting Apparatus to highlight its linked pedestals, which is handy when you set those up.[2]

Then get a golem charm

Each resource also has a golem charm, such as the Allthemodium GeOre Golem Charm. You obtain a charm by performing the Ritual of Awakening near the matching Budding GeOre, so the Allthemodium charm needs Budding Allthemodium GeOre nearby.[2]

Charms tie in with the GeOre Golem. The mod also adds a GeOre Golem Conversion category to JEI, and its text says only a golem of the matching type can perform a given conversion. The exact conversions are not covered by the sources here.[2]

Tip: Pick the rod and charm that match the resource you want most. The item names follow the same pattern for every resource, so you can search for the rod and charm of a given ore by its name.[2]

How does GeOre Nouveau work?

4 parts

GeOre Nouveau adds a GeOre Dowsing Rod and a GeOre Golem Charm for each ore or gem type it supports. It also adds the GeOre Golem entity. The sources for this pack describe these pieces only through their in-game names and tooltips, so this section covers what those say.[2]

Dowsing rods

Using a dowsing rod grants you Magic Find and Scrying. Magical creatures glow, and the matching GeOre is revealed through blocks. For example, the Diamond rod shows Diamond GeOre, and the Copper rod shows Copper GeOre.[2]

Rods have another use. You can use one on an Imbuement Chamber or an Enchanting Apparatus to highlight its linked pedestals. That is handy when you are checking a larger setup.[2]

Golem charms

The charm tooltips say you obtain a charm by performing the Ritual of Awakening near the matching Budding GeOre. The Iron charm, for instance, comes from doing the ritual near Budding Iron GeOre.[2]

GeOre Golem conversion

The mod adds a recipe viewer category called GeOre Golem Conversion. Its screen text says that only a GeOre Golem of the listed type can perform a given conversion. Check that category in the recipe viewer to see which golem type each conversion needs.[2]

What this pack changes

The pack removes the Allthemodium, Unobtainium and Vibranium variants of both the rods and the charms. One example is the Allthemodium GeOre Dowsing Rod. The pack strips all tags from these items and hides them from recipe viewers, and it removes every recipe that makes or uses them.[3]

The same script also removes the budding blocks, buds, clusters, shards, blocks, spyglasses and tinted glass of Allthemodium, Unobtainium and Vibranium from the base GeOre mod. Don't plan around those variants in this pack.[3]

Tip: Pick the rod for the ore you are hunting. Its tooltip says it reveals that ore through blocks.[2]

Unverified The sources here do not explain how to perform the Ritual of Awakening, what the GeOre Golem does, or how its conversions work in detail. No in-jar guidebook was found for this mod, and no config files for it are in the pack, so power, fluid and item automation details and config options are not shown.

How do you progress through GeOre Nouveau?

1 part

Before you go looking for a GeOre upgrade ladder, you should know that this pack's own script removes the allthemodium, unobtainium and vibranium variants of the GeOre content. Those top metal tiers are not something you progress into here.[3]

What the pack removes

For every item on the removal list, the script strips its tags and adds it to the hidden-from-recipe-viewers tag. It also removes every recipe that produces the item or uses it as an input. The only recipes it leaves alone are the Integrated Dynamics facade crafting type. So you won't find these items in recipe viewer lookups either.[3]

The same cleanup reaches items from other mods too. The echoing budding blocks, such as Echoing Budding Vibranium, are on the list. So are the allthemodium, vibranium and unobtainium furnaces and furnace upgrades, for example Allthemodium Furnace and Vibranium to Unobtainium Furnace Upgrade.[3]

Tip: If you spot one of these items in a chest, a world or an old guide, don't plan a build around it. In this pack its recipes are removed and it is hidden from recipe viewers.[3]

Unverified The quest book has no quests that involve this mod, and no recipes for its items are shown in the sources here, so there is no verified tier-by-tier crafting path for the rest of GeOre Nouveau.
