What is FTB Team Bases?
1 part
FTB Team Bases is part of the pack. FTB Skies 2: Aero 1.10.0 ships version 21.1.18, and it has been in the pack since 1.0.3 or earlier.[1]
The part of the mod you will actually use is the command /ftbteambases home, which teleports you back to your starting island. That is how the pack's quest book describes it, and it is handy if you wander off and want a quick way home.[2]
Where the quest book puts it
The mod has no quest of its own. It shows up in the "Welcome" chapter, which is chapter 1 of 31 in the book and has 4 quests. The command appears in a quest in "Welcome", a quest with no title of its own that works as a list of useful commands. It is a checkmark quest, so there is nothing to craft or hand in.[2]
The commands listed in that quest are:[2]
- /sethome (name) sets a home, and /home (name) teleports you back to it.[2]
- /ftbteambases home teleports you back to your starting island.[2]
- /back returns you to a previous point, either from a death or from where you last teleported from.[2]
- /spawn teleports you back to the lobby.[2]
- /spark tps checks the server's TPS, which is useful to see if your world is lagging.[2]
The same chapter also holds "Creating and Joining a team" quest, "Found A Bug?" quest and "Welcome to FTB Skies 2: Aero!" quest. The first covers the /ftbteams party commands for sharing a starting ship or island with friends. Those commands belong to FTB Teams, so keep them separate from the Team Bases command above.[2]
Unverified Beyond the home command, the sources I have do not describe what else FTB Team Bases does in this pack, such as how starting islands are created or whether it has configurable options.
How do you get started with FTB Team Bases?
Same as in the FTB StoneBlock 4 1.22.0 guide
The only thing I can confirm about FTB Team Bases in this pack is that it adds the Portal Block, listed in the mod's own language file as "Portal Block".[3]
I don't have a crafting recipe, quest or config option for this mod in the pack, so I can't give you a first-steps order or a recipe block for it. I'd rather leave that out than guess.[3]
Unverified How you obtain the Portal Block, what it does, and how team bases are created or entered in this pack are not confirmed by the available sources.
How does FTB Team Bases work?
Same as in the FTB Skies 2 1.14.3 guide
The sources I have for this mod are very thin, so this section is short on purpose. I'd rather give you what is confirmed than guess how the systems work.[4][5]
The mod's language file lists a Portal Block, so the mod adds a block with that name. Nothing I was given describes how it is crafted, how it behaves, or what it connects.[4]
The pack sets start.start to true in its structure toggle config file.[5]
Unverified What the start.start toggle does in practice, and how the mod handles power, fluids, items, machines, multiblocks or automation, is not explained by the available sources, so none of it is confirmed here.
How do you progress through FTB Team Bases?
2 parts
FTB Team Bases doesn't have a tier ladder in the sources I have. The only place the pack's quest book touches it is the first chapter, "Welcome" (chapter 1 of 31 in the book, 4 quests). That chapter is about getting you and your friends onto the same starting island, and about the commands you'll use to get around.[2]
Step 1: Get on the same team
The quest "Creating and Joining a team" quest explains how to share a starting ship/island with friends. When you join a world for the first time, a team is automatically created for you. If you want to play together, you have to leave that team first.[2]
- Type /ftbteams party leave in chat, then type it once more to confirm.[2]
- The party leader invites each new player with /ftbteams party invite followed by the player's username.[2]
- A message shows up in chat asking the invited player to accept or decline.[2]
Step 2: Learn the handy commands
One of the Welcome quests, a quest in "Welcome", has no title in the book. It lists the commands worth knowing:[2]
- /sethome (name) sets a home that you can teleport back to using /home (name).[2]
The other two quests in the chapter are the welcome quest, "Welcome to FTB Skies 2: Aero!" quest, and "Found A Bug?" quest, which says you can report problems on Discord or by making a bug report on GitHub.[2]
Unverified A tier-by-tier breakdown and in-pack crafting recipes for this mod could not be confirmed from the sources, so none are listed here.
Which FTB Skies 2: Aero quests use FTB Team Bases?
1 part
Team bases doesn't get a chapter of its own in the quest book. It shows up in the very first chapter, "Welcome" (chapter 1 of 31), which has 4 quests. Every one of them is a simple checkmark task, so you read the text and tick it off.[2]
The Welcome chapter, quest by quest
- "Creating and Joining a team" quest: this one is for playing with friends on the same starting ship/island. A team is created for you automatically when you first join a world, so you type /ftbteams party leave in chat, then once more to confirm. After that, the party leader invites players with /ftbteams party invite <username>, and the invited player gets a chat message to accept or decline.[2]
- "Found A Bug?" quest: if something doesn't work like it should, you can let the pack makers know on Discord or by making a bug report on GitHub.[2]
- "Welcome to FTB Skies 2: Aero!" quest: the chapter's welcome quest. It has a checkmark task, and the book gives it no description text.[2]
- a quest in "Welcome": this quest has no title, and it works as a command cheat sheet. It covers /sethome (name) and /home (name) for setting and returning to homes, /ftbteambases home to teleport back to your starting island, /back to return to a previous point (from a death or your last teleport), /spawn to go back to the lobby, and /spark tps to check the server's TPS and see if your world is lagging.[2]
The quests above are listed in the order the chapter data gives them. That data doesn't say which ones unlock others, so I can't tell you a required order.[2]
Which FTB Team Bases config options matter?
Same as in the FTB Skies 2 1.14.3 guide
The only config option for FTB Team Bases that I can confirm for this pack is in the structure toggle file, and it's a simple one. In this pack, start.start is set to true.[5]
I can't tell you whether that matches the mod's default, so I won't claim the pack changed it. Treat true as simply the value this pack ships with.[5]
Unverified What the start.start toggle does in game is not confirmed by the sources, and no other FTB Team Bases config options are covered here.
