What is FTB Team Bases?
Same as in the FTB Skies 2 1.22.0 guide
FTB Team Bases is part of the pack's mod list. This version ships FTB Team Bases 21.1.18, as the file ftb-team-bases-21.1.18.jar. It was already included in this version or an earlier one.[1]
Unverified The available sources only confirm that the mod is installed and which version it is. They do not describe its features, who it is aimed at, or where it fits in the pack's progression, so none of that is covered here. Nothing I was given shows it on the ATM Star path or tied to any quest, so check in-game before relying on it.
How do you get started with FTB Team Bases?
Same as in the FTB StoneBlock 4 1.22.0 guide
The only thing I can confirm about FTB Team Bases in this pack is that it adds the Portal Block, listed in the mod's own language file as "Portal Block".[2]
I don't have a crafting recipe, quest or config option for this mod in the pack, so I can't give you a first-steps order or a recipe block for it. I'd rather leave that out than guess.[2]
Unverified How you obtain the Portal Block, what it does, and how team bases are created or entered in this pack are not confirmed by the available sources.
How does FTB Team Bases work?
3 parts
Same as in the FTB StoneBlock 4 1.22.0 guide
The sources for this mod only cover its world generation data and one block name, so this section is short. Here is what is confirmed for this pack.[2][3][4]
The start structure
The mod registers a structure called ftbteambases:start. It sits in a structure set of the same name, and the set contains only that one structure, with a weight of 1.[3]
The set uses the placement type ftbteambases:one_chunk_only with cx 0 and cz 0. Going by the placement type and those values, the structure is meant to generate in a single chunk and not repeat across the world. The files don't spell out anything beyond that.[3]
The structure itself is generated in the top_layer_modification step, and its start height is set to an absolute value of 64.[4]
The ftbteambases:start structure set is also listed in the mod's default structure set tag.[5]
Where it can generate
The structure is allowed in any biome from the mod's has_structure/start tag. That tag covers the usual Overworld biomes (plains, forests, deserts, oceans, mountains and caves), plus Nether biomes like minecraft:nether_wastes and End biomes like minecraft:the_end. It also includes minecraft:the_void.[4][6]
The tag is set to not replace, so other data packs can add more biomes to it.[6]
The portal block
The mod's language file names one block, the Portal Block, shown in game as Portal Block.[2]
Unverified How the Portal Block behaves, how team bases are created and assigned, and whether the start structure is used for them is not covered by the sources. The mod has no config files in this pack and no recipes produce its items, so none of that can be confirmed here.
How do you progress through FTB Team Bases?
4 parts
Good news: there is no tier ladder to climb with this mod. The pack is a sandbox-style Skyblock where mods are not particularly gated, so you progress however you like. The pack's final goal is completing the FTB Pyramid.[7]
Unverified No recipes or crafting tiers for this mod's items are confirmed in the pack data, so there is nothing to craft or upgrade here.
Where it shows up in the quest book
The mod's commands are covered in the first chapter of the quest book, "Welcome", which is chapter 1 of 41 and holds 4 quests. The relevant ones are "Creating and Joining a team" quest and a quest in "Welcome". The first chapter also has "Welcome to FTB Skies 2!" quest and "Found A Bug?" quest.[7]
Playing with friends
If you want to share a starting island, the quest "Creating and Joining a team" quest walks you through it. A team is created for you automatically when you first join a world, so you have to leave it before you can group up.[7]
- Type /ftbteams party leave in chat to get out of your automatic team.[7]
- The party leader types /ftbteams party invite <username> to invite a player.[7]
- The invited player gets a chat message and can accept or decline.[7]
Handy commands from the quest book
- /ftbteambases home teleports you back to your starting island.[7]
- /sethome (name) sets a home, and /home (name) takes you back to it.[7]
- /back returns you to a previous point, either from a death or from where you last teleported from.[7]
- /spawn teleports you back to the lobby.[7]
- /spark tps checks the server's TPS, which is useful to see if your world is lagging.[7]
How the start structure is placed
Under the hood, the mod's data defines a "start" structure that is placed in a single chunk only, at chunk 0, 0. It uses an absolute start height of 64 and can generate in a long list of biomes, including the void.[8][9][10]
Which FTB Skies 2 quests use FTB Team Bases?
2 parts
The quest book brings up team bases in its very first chapter, "Welcome" (chapter 1 of 41). That chapter has 4 quests, and each one has a checkmark task, so you read the text and tick it off. The quests ask you for nothing to craft or hand in.[7]
Quests that touch team bases
- "Creating and Joining a team" quest is about sharing a starting island with friends. Its text says a team is created for you automatically when you first join a world, so it asks you to type /ftbteams party leave in chat first. After that, it says the party leader invites players with /ftbteams party invite <username>, and the invited player gets a chat message to accept or decline.[7]
- a quest in "Welcome" has no title in the book. Its text is a command cheat sheet, and the one that matters here is /ftbteambases home, which the quest says teleports you back to your starting island. It also lists /sethome (name) and /home (name), /back, /spawn (back to the lobby) and /spark tps (checks the server's TPS).[7]
Other quests in the chapter
The other two quests in "Welcome" don't mention team bases. The text of "Welcome to FTB Skies 2!" quest introduces the pack as a sandbox-style Skyblock and names the FTB Pyramid as the final goal. "Found A Bug?" quest points you to Discord or GitHub for reporting bugs.[7]
Which FTB Team Bases config options matter?
The only config value I can confirm for this mod in this pack is in the structure toggle file. There, start.start is set to true.[11]
Unverified What this option does in detail, and whether true is the mod default or a value the pack changed, is not confirmed by the pack files I have, so check the file in your own instance before editing it.
