What is Create: Copycats+?
2 parts
Create: Copycats+ adds "copycat" versions of lots of building shapes. In this pack, these blocks take on the texture of whatever block you click them with. The pack includes version 3.0.9 of the mod for NeoForge.[1][2]
The mod's project page lists a wide range of shapes: slabs, stairs, fences, walls, beams, slices, layers, panels, doors, trapdoors and more. It also lists Create-style pieces such as copycat shafts and cogwheels. The page says every copycat can be switched on or off with a feature toggle.[3]
One shape matters a lot in this pack: the Copycat Board. The project page describes it as a 1-pixel thick panel, and you can place several boards in the same block space, like glow lichen.[2][3]
Where it sits in the quest book
The pack's quest book puts the mod in the "Aeronautics" chapter. That chapter is in the "Main Questline" group, is chapter 5 of 31 in the book, and has 58 quests. Its intro quest is "Taking to the Skies" quest, and chapter paths such as "The Hull" quest, "Thrust" quest and "Lift" quest come after it.[2]
The quest that asks you for the Copycat Board is "Light Hull Blocks" quest. It comes after The Hull, which is about glue, goggles, hull blocks and knowing what your ship weighs. "Honey Glue" quest also comes after The Hull. The text of 38 of the chapter's quests is not included here, so for anything else in the chapter, check the quest book itself.[2]
Why the pack uses it
In this pack, copycats are for building ship hulls that look heavy but aren't. The quest explains that Aero Copycats gives every copycat shape a proper physics mass, and a Copycat Board comes in at 0.125 kpg. Build the shape out of boards, beams, panels and slices, then skin them with a heavy-looking block like oak, deepslate or brass.[2]
How do you get started with Create: Copycats+?
5 parts
In this pack, Create: Copycats+ is introduced by the quest "Light Hull Blocks" quest in the Aeronautics chapter (the Main Questline group, chapter 5 of 31). It comes right after "The Hull" quest, and it asks you to get a Copycat Board. So your first goal is simple: make boards and build light hulls.[2]
Step 1: make Copycat Boards
Copycats take on the texture of whatever block you click them with, so a hull can look like oak, deepslate or brass while weighing almost nothing. The quest says a Copycat Board weighs 0.125 kpg, which is why it is the first thing to make. You build the shape from boards, beams, panels and slices, skin them with a heavy-looking block, and the balloon only has to lift a fraction of the weight.[2]
The pack changed how copycats are made. Its 39 stonecutting recipes for copycats all use the same single ingredient, so you do the work at a stonecutter. Here is the board recipe:[4]
This stonecutting recipe is marked as changed by the pack.
Step 2: add beams and full blocks
Once you have boards, make a few Copycat Beam and Copycat Block for the bulk of the hull. These are stonecutter recipes too, and the pack changed them as well.[4]
Step 3: skin them
- Right-click a copycat with a material block to assign it. Right-clicking again rotates it.[5]
- Use a wrench to remove the material if you change your mind.[5]
- Shift-right-click with an empty hand to toggle connected textures.[5]
Step 4: pre-assembled shortcuts
The Copycat Box and Copycat Catwalk are pre-assembled versions of the copycat board. Both have a crafting recipe in the pack.[3][4]

Later: copycat cogwheels
The pack also changed the Copycat Cogwheel recipe. In the pack's server config, the stress impact of the copycat cogwheel, the large cogwheel and the shaft is 0: see stressValues.v1.impact.copycat_cogwheel, stressValues.v1.impact.copycat_large_cogwheel and stressValues.v1.impact.copycat_shaft.[4][6]

The Aeronautics quest book has more to say about hull building. Some of its quest text did not fit here, so check the quest book for the rest.[2]
How does Create: Copycats+ work?
6 parts
Copycats+ adds no machines or multiblocks of its own. Almost everything here is a decorative block that copies the look of another block, so the "mechanics" are about how you apply materials, resize shapes and connect textures. A few copycats also stand in for Create parts.[3][5]
Applying and removing materials
Right-click a copycat with a block to assign that material to it. Right-clicking again with a material rotates it. To take the material back off, use a wrench.[5]
Connected textures
Shift-right-click a copycat with an empty hand to toggle connected textures. Copycats connect their textures to each other as long as they have a matching block face. The door copycats (Copycat Iron Door, Copycat Sliding Door and Copycat Folding Door) have separate upper and lower textures, and you can toggle connected textures for each half.[3][5]
How the different copycats behave
Each copycat is tagged with one or more behaviours in its tooltip. Here is what each one means in practice:[5]
- Functional: these work the same as their non-copycat counterparts. The list includes doors, trapdoors, fence gates, buttons, pressure plates and the ladder.[3][5]
- Stackable: right-click with the same copycat to enlarge it. The slices can be resized to 8 different sizes. A Copycat Half Layer can be stacked up to full block size, with 2 columns of half layers sharing one block space.[3][5]
- Multi-state: you can put several copies, each with a different material, in the same block space. The tooltip tells you to hold a key to fill all parts, and the pack has a key binding called "Fill Copycat with Material". A Copycat Byte is a mini-block, placed and dismantled individually, and 8 of them form a full block. Copycat Board pieces are 1-pixel thick panels, and several can share one block space like glow lichen.[3][5]
- Pre-assembled: Copycat Box and Copycat Catwalk are pre-assembled boards, and you can disassemble their individual parts after placing them.[3][5]
- Ghost: the Copycat Ghost Block has no collision with entities.[3][5]
Create parts: shaft, cogwheels and fluid pipe
Copycats+ includes copycat versions of a shaft, cogwheels and a fluid pipe: Copycat Cogwheel, Copycat Large Cogwheel and Copycat Fluid Pipe. In this pack's server config the stress impact of the cogwheel, the large cogwheel and the shaft is set to 0 (stressValues.v1.impact.copycat_cogwheel, stressValues.v1.impact.copycat_large_cogwheel and stressValues.v1.impact.copycat_shaft).[3][5][6]
The pack changes the recipes for these three crafted parts. They are shown here exactly as the pack has them.[4]

Getting the basic shapes
The pack also changes how the basic shapes are made. 39 stonecutting recipes make copycats, and the pack changes the ones for the beam, block, board and byte. Here are two of them:[4]
Feature toggles
Every copycat can be switched on or off in the common config, and in this pack all of them are on. There are also whole-category switches: feature_categories.create, feature_categories.functional, feature_categories.multistates, feature_categories.redstone, feature_categories.slopes and feature_categories.stackables. Single blocks have their own keys, for example features.copycat_shaft.[3][7]
How do you progress through Create: Copycats+?
4 parts
Copycats+ in this pack is less a tier ladder and more a short path: the quest book hands you the first copycat for ship hulls, the base shapes come straight from the stonecutter, and from there you convert one shape into another.[2][4]
Where it sits in the quest book
Copycats+ shows up in the Aeronautics chapter, in the Main Questline group (chapter 5 of 31). It is part of the hull path: "Taking to the Skies" quest leads to "The Hull" quest, which leads on to "Honey Glue" quest, "Physics Goggles" quest and "Light Hull Blocks" quest.[2]
The Light Hull Blocks quest asks you to get a Copycat Board. After it comes "Aeronautics Covers" quest.[2]
The quest explains why this matters: copycat blocks take on the texture of whatever block you click them with, and Aero Copycats gives every copycat shape a physics mass. A Copycat Board weighs 0.125 kpg, so you can build a big hull from boards, beams, panels and slices, skin it with a heavy-looking block, and let the balloon carry a fraction of the weight.[2]
Stage 1: base shapes from the stonecutter
The pack changed the stonecutting recipes for the copycat shapes. All 39 of them now use one shared ingredient, so you cut every shape straight from the same starting material. Here are the ones you'll reach for first.[4]
Changed by the pack. One craft makes 8 boards.
Changed by the pack. One craft makes 4 beams.
Changed by the pack. One craft makes 1 block.
Stage 2: converting between shapes
Once you have some shapes, you can often craft the next one instead of going back to the stonecutter. These recipes are the mod's own, not pack changes.[4]
- Copycat Box and Copycat Catwalk are crafted from copycat boards.[4]
- Copycat Block can be crafted from copycat slabs, and Copycat Slab has crafting routes from beams, panels and steps.[4]
- Copycat Layer is crafted from 2 half layers.[4]
- Many shapes swap with their rotated or related partner at 2 for 1. For example, 2 Copycat Slope make a Copycat Vertical Slope, and 2 vertical slopes make a slope again. Stairs and vertical stairs, panes and flat panes, and folding and sliding doors work the same way.[4]
- If you also have Create Connected copycats, 2 of its boards, beams, blocks, slabs, fences, fence gates, stairs, vertical steps or walls convert into the matching Copycats+ item.[4]

How does Create: Copycats+ work with other mods?
5 parts
Copycats+ ties into the rest of the pack in three ways: Zinc Ingots, Create's own copycat blocks, and a set of Create Connected compat recipes. The quest book also uses the mod for ship hulls.[2][4]
Zinc Ingot recipes
The pack changed the Copycats+ recipes to run through the Zinc Ingot. The stonecutting recipes for the copycat shapes are all marked as changed by the pack, and each one takes a single Zinc Ingot. The amount you get depends on the shape, for example 4 Copycat Beams, 8 Copycat Boards, 16 Copycat Byte Panels, 16 Copycat Corner Slices, 2 Copycat Slabs or a single Copycat Block.[4]
One of the many stonecutting recipes the pack changed.
Create parts and the iron door
Copycat Cogwheel, Copycat Large Cogwheel and Copycat Fluid Pipe are the Copycats+ versions of Create's Cogwheel, Large Cogwheel and Fluid Pipe. The pack changed all of their recipes, and each one makes 4 copycats. The exact recipes are shown below.[4]

Copycat Iron Door is also a pack-changed recipe. It starts from a vanilla Iron Door and a Zinc Ingot.[4]

Converting from Create's copycats
Create's own Copycat Panel and Copycat Step convert into Copycats+ shapes, and some conversions work backwards too. These are the mod's own recipes, not pack changes. A panel turns into a Copycat Slab, and two panels make a Copycat Trapdoor. Two trapdoors or two Copycat Half Panel items make a panel again. A step turns into a slab or a Copycat Vertical Step.[4]

Create Connected compat
If you already have copycats from Create Connected, you can merge them into the Copycats+ versions. Two Create Connected items make one Copycats+ item. This works for the beam, block, board, fence, fence gate, slab, stairs, vertical step and wall. These are mod recipes, unchanged by the pack.[4]

In the quest book
The "Aeronautics" chapter sits in the Main Questline group, chapter 5 of 31 in the book. Its quest "Light Hull Blocks" quest asks you to obtain a Copycat Board, and it comes right after "The Hull" quest. The quest says Copycats+ blocks take on the texture of whatever block you click them with. It names Aero Copycats as the glue between the two mods, giving every copycat shape a physics mass, with a Copycat Board at 0.125 kpg. Its advice is to build the shape from boards, beams, panels and slices, then skin it with a heavy-looking block.[2]
Which FTB Skies 2: Aero quests use Create: Copycats+?
3 parts
Create: Copycats+ shows up in one quest in this pack, and it sits in the "Aeronautics" chapter. That is chapter 5 of 31 in the quest book, in the "Main Questline" group.[2]
Where it sits in the chapter
The chapter opens with "Taking to the Skies" quest, which sets up the hull, lift, engines, stability, controls and travel paths. The hull path starts with "The Hull" quest, which is about glue, goggles, hull blocks and knowing what your ship weighs.[2]
Three quests follow The Hull: "Honey Glue" quest, "Physics Goggles" quest and the Copycats+ one, "Light Hull Blocks" quest.[2]
Light Hull Blocks
The quest asks you to hand in a single item: the Copycat Board. It is a plain item check, so you only need the board in your inventory.[2]
The quest explains why it matters. Copycats+ blocks take on the texture of whatever block you click them with, so a hull can look like oak, deepslate or brass while weighing almost nothing. Aero Copycats gives every copycat shape a proper physics mass, and a Copycat Board comes in at 0.125 kpg.[2]
What comes next
After Light Hull Blocks the book points you to "Aeronautics Covers" quest. It is not a Copycats+ quest, but it is the next step on this branch. It asks for the Cover item from the Aeronautics Covers mod, a facade that wraps pipes, cables and other awkward blocks so the hull reads as one surface.[2]
Which Create: Copycats+ config options matter?
3 parts
Create: Copycats+ keeps its settings in a common file, a client file and a server file. In this pack most of them sit at "everything on", so there's only a handful worth knowing about.[6][7][8]
Feature toggles (common)
The mod lets you switch copycats on or off individually, and in this pack the feature toggles in the common file are set to true. That includes things like features.copycat_ghost_block, features.copycat_byte and features.copycat_sliding_door. Each one is a key under "features" in the common file.[3][7]
There are also broader category toggles, and the pack has these set to true:[7]
- feature_categories.create: all copycats mimicking blocks from Create.[7]
- feature_categories.functional: copycats with extra functions or interactions.[7]
- feature_categories.multistates: copycats that support multiple materials in a single block.[7]
- feature_categories.redstone: copycats that can emit a redstone signal.[7]
- feature_categories.slopes: copycats with a sloped surface.[7]
- feature_categories.stackables: copycats that can be resized by putting in more of the same copycat.[7]
Visuals (client)
- useEnhancedModels is true. It uses more complex copycat models to improve appearance with certain materials.[8]
- colorizeMultiStates is false. Turning it on colorizes the different parts of multi-state copycats so you can tell them apart visually.[8]
- disableGraphicsWarnings is false, so the mod's warnings about graphics settings that may cause issues stay on.[8]
Stress impact (server)
The server file sets the stress impact of the copycat cogwheel, the large copycat cogwheel and the copycat shaft to 0 in this pack: stressValues.v1.impact.copycat_cogwheel, stressValues.v1.impact.copycat_large_cogwheel and stressValues.v1.impact.copycat_shaft.[6]
What changed in Create: Copycats+ between versions?
1 part
FTB Skies 2: Aero 1.10.0 ships Create: Copycats+ 3.0.9. The mod was first included in pack release 1.0.3 or earlier.[1]
Mod releases with changelog entries
- 3.0.9 is the version in the pack at 1.10.0. Its changelog entry only points to the detailed changelog kept in the mod's own repository.[1][9]
- 3.0.8 has the same kind of entry: a pointer to the detailed changelog in the mod's repository.[10]
- 3.0.4 also only points to that detailed changelog.[11]
Because those entries only link out, this page can't list individual changes for those releases. If you want the details, the mod's own changelog is the place to look.[9][10][11]
Unverified The pack changelogs have no entries for this mod, so any pack-level change to it between releases is not shown in the sources here.
