What is Tree Tap?
Same as in the All the Mods 10 2.12 guide
Tree Tap is part of the mod list in this pack. This version of the pack ships Tree Tap 1.21.1-0.4.2, and it has been in the pack since version 2.11 or earlier.[1]
Unverified I couldn't confirm from the available sources what Tree Tap adds, how its mechanics work, or who it suits best. The pack's files show no in-pack recipes, config values or quests for it, and no guidebook was found inside the mod. I haven't described any gameplay here to avoid guessing.
Unverified No ATM Star path or quest involvement for Tree Tap was found, so where it fits in the pack's progression is unconfirmed. Check the mod in-game, for example in the recipe viewer, before building a plan around it. This site does hold FTB Skies 2's own recipes, read from the pack itself: look the item up in the item browser.
How do you get started with Tree Tap?
Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.1 guide
The only Tree Tap item the pack's recipe data confirms is the Tap, so that is the first thing to make with Tree Tap.[2]
This is the pack's recipe for the Tap, a shaped crafting recipe.
The recipe is shaped, so follow the layout shown above. It takes any item from the shared copper ingots tag, so you don't need one specific mod's copper ingot.[2]
Unverified The sources here do not show how the Tap is used, what it collects, which trees work with it, or whether other Tree Tap items exist. Check this in-game before you build a setup around it.
How does Tree Tap work?
3 parts
Tree Tap is built around the Tap and its Sap Collector blocks. The mod's language file names the tap block "Tap" and has a standard Sap Collector and a wooden Sap Collector. The sources here don't spell out the full sap process, so this section sticks to what the mod's data files confirm.[3]
The tap
The tap is a block that drops itself when broken, and it is listed in the mod's taps item tag. Its item text shows a "Speed modifier" line followed by a value, so taps carry a speed modifier. The sources don't show what that value is. The mod also has a Jade plugin entry for the tap, so Jade can show tap info when you look at one.[3][4][5]
This is the mod's own recipe, listed in the pack's recipe dump.
What you can tap
The mod decides what can be tapped with a block tag called tappable. It contains:[7]
- Every block in the minecraft logs tag, so any log type counts.[7]
- Crying obsidian, which is a handy non-wood option.[7]
- An optional entry for pamhc2trees:pammaple, which only applies if that block exists.[7]
Buckets and collectors
Tree Tap sorts buckets into metal, ceramic and wooden item tags. The metal bucket tag holds the vanilla bucket. The ceramic bucket tag holds the bucket from Ceramic Bucket as an optional entry. The wooden bucket tag holds optional entries for tfc:wooden_bucket and woodenbucket:wooden_bucket.[8][9][10]
The standard Sap Collector's loot table gives you a plain bucket when the block is broken. There is also a ceramic Sap Collector, and its loot table gives back a ceramic bucket, but only when the Ceramic Bucket mod is loaded.[11][12]
How do you progress through Tree Tap?
2 parts
Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.2 guide
Tree Tap doesn't give you a tier ladder to climb in this pack. The one in-pack recipe for the mod is the Tap, so that's where you start.[13]
This is the pack's recipe for the Tap.
What you can tap
The mod's tappable block tag covers every block in the logs tag, plus crying obsidian. A maple block from the pamhc2trees namespace is also listed, but only as an optional entry, so it counts only when that content is installed.[14]
Buckets and collectors
The mod sorts buckets into item tags for metal, ceramic and wooden buckets. The metal tag holds the vanilla bucket. The ceramic tag holds the bucket from the ceramicbucket namespace, and the wooden tag holds the wooden buckets with the ids tfc:wooden_bucket and woodenbucket:wooden_bucket. The ceramic and wooden entries are all optional, so they only apply when those mods are present.[15][16][17]
The sap collector block drops a vanilla bucket when you break it. The ceramic sap collector drops a ceramic bucket instead, and that drop only exists when the ceramicbucket mod is loaded.[18][19]
The Tap block drops the Tap item itself when broken, and the mod's taps item tag contains just that one item.[20][21]
