What is RightClickHarvest?

4 parts

Same as in the FTB Skies 2 1.22.0 guide

RightClickHarvest does one job: you right click a mature crop and it harvests it, and the seeds are replanted automatically. No more breaking and replanting by hand, which is a big time saver once your farms get large.[1]

This pack ships RightClickHarvest 4.6.1+1.21.1, the NeoForge build.[2]

What it covers

  • All vanilla crops work, including cocoa beans, cactus and sugar cane.[1]
  • Enchanting your hoe with Fortune gives you a higher yield.[1]
  • The mod says it harvests 99.9% of modded crops without extra configuration, so most farming from other mods should work as is.[1]

Who it is for

It is for anyone who farms regularly. That includes early game players who want quick, low-effort harvests and later players who run big crop setups and want to cut the clicking.[1]

Options worth knowing

The mod can be configured to require a hoe, to let higher tier hoes harvest in a larger radius, to charge hunger for harvesting, and to consume or reward XP. The mod's own defaults are no hoe required, radius harvesting on, and no hunger or XP cost. These are the mod's defaults. The sources I have do not show whether this pack changes any of them, so check the config in your own instance.[1]

Tip: If right clicking does nothing, check whether Require Hoe is set to true. The mod's FAQ names this as the most common cause, because you then need to hold a hoe to harvest.[1]

Multiplayer notes

The mod must be installed on the server. Installing it on the client is optional. On a server, the config file is config/rightclickharvest.json5. It requires Architectury API and JamLib.[1]

Unverified No quest or ATM Star path involvement for RightClickHarvest could be confirmed from the sources, so its place in this pack's progression is not documented here.

How do you get started with RightClickHarvest?

2 parts

Same as in the FTB Skies 2 1.22.0 guide

Good news: there is nothing to craft first. RightClickHarvest works on the crops you already grow. You right click a mature crop, it harvests, and the seeds are replanted for you.[1]

Your first steps

  1. Plant a crop and wait until it is fully grown, then right click it. The mod handles all vanilla crops, including cocoa beans, cactus and sugar cane, and the project page says it harvests 99.9% of modded crops without extra configuration.[1]
  2. If nothing happens, check whether you are holding a hoe. The mod has an option that only allows harvesting certain crops, such as wheat and carrots, while a hoe is in your hand. The project page names this as the most common reason the mod seems broken.[1][3]
  3. If you use a hoe, enchant it with fortune for a higher yield.[1]
  4. Try hoes of different tiers. The mod has an option to let hoes of different tiers harvest multiple blocks in a radius, and the project page says the radius grows as the hoe's tier increases.[1][3]

Options worth knowing about

The mod has a handful of settings. You can choose whether a hoe is required, whether higher tier hoes harvest a bigger area, how much hunger harvesting costs, and whether XP is taken or given for harvesting. There is also a switch for the warning shown when you join a server that lacks the mod.[1][3]

Watch out: RightClickHarvest must be installed on the server, and it is optional on the client. On a server without it the mod will not work, and you may see a warning about that.[1][3]

How does RightClickHarvest work?

4 parts

RightClickHarvest has no machines, multiblocks, power or fluids to manage. It changes one thing: you right click a mature crop to harvest it, and the seeds are replanted for you. The sources describe all of it through a handful of config options and block and item tags, so that's what this section covers.[1]

What a right click does

You can harvest all vanilla crops this way, including cocoa beans, cactus and sugar cane. The project page also says it handles 99.9% of modded crops without extra configuration. If you enchant your hoe with Fortune, you get a higher yield.[1]

The mod must be installed on the server. Installing it on the client is optional. If you join a server without it, the mod won't work.[1]

How the pack sets it up

  • requireHoe is false in the pack, so you can harvest with an empty hand. When it is on, certain crops (the tooltip gives wheat and carrots as examples) need a hoe in your hand. If the mod ever seems broken elsewhere, this is the first thing to check, since the project page calls it the most common cause.[1][3][4]
  • hungerLevel is set to NORMAL in the pack. The mod's own default is none, so harvesting costs food here. The setting controls the food used when harvesting crops, and the options are none, low, normal and high.[1][3][4]
  • experienceType is NONE, so harvesting neither costs nor rewards XP. The other options are Cost XP and Reward XP.[3][4]
  • harvestInRadius is false in the pack. The mod's default is true. With it off, a right click harvests only the crop you clicked. The hoe tier tags below only matter for radius harvesting, so they don't change anything in this pack unless someone turns the option on.[1][3][4]
  • showServerWarning is false in the pack, while the mod's default is true. That warning is about playing on a server without the mod installed.[1][3][4]

Hoe tiers and radius harvesting

When radius harvesting is on, hoes of different tiers harvest multiple blocks in a radius. The mod sorts hoes into low, mid and high tier item tags. The sources don't give the radius for each tier, so I can't tell you how big it gets.[3][5][6][7]

  • Low tier includes Iron Hoe, along with modded hoes such as copper, steel and certus quartz ones.[6]
  • Mid tier includes Golden Hoe and Diamond Hoe, plus a long list of modded hoes.[7]
  • High tier includes Netherite Hoe and several modded top-end hoes, such as the Dragon Loot dragon hoe and the Deeper and Darker warden hoe.[5]

Block tag exceptions

  • Cocoa is on the list of blocks that never require a hoe, so it can be harvested by hand even with the hoe requirement on.[8]
  • Cocoa, sugar cane and cactus are excluded from radius harvesting, so those are harvested one block at a time even if radius harvesting is on.[9]
  • The general blacklist tag ships empty, so the mod doesn't block any crops by default.[10]

How do you progress through RightClickHarvest?

4 parts

RightClickHarvest doesn't have a crafting ladder of its own. What it ships is a set of hoe tag lists sorted into tiers, and the lists shown in the sources here are the low tier and the high tier. Here is what each one contains, so you know which hoes belong where.[5][6]

Low tier hoes

The low tier list starts with the Iron Hoe. It also includes the Certus Quartz Hoe and the Fluix Hoe from Applied Energistics 2.[6]

Beyond those, the list has entries from other mods, such as copper, bronze, steel and aluminium hoes, plus an iron paxel and an iron multitool. Every entry in the list is marked as not required, which means an entry only counts if its mod is actually present.[6]

Mid tier hoes

Unverified The mid tier hoe list lives in the mod's mid_tier_hoes tag file, and the sources here do not show its contents, so no mid tier hoes are listed.

High tier hoes

The high tier list begins with the Netherite Hoe. It then adds hoes from other mods, including Advanced Netherite hoes, warden hoes, a dragon hoe, an enderite hoe, an electrum hoe, a netherite paxel and a netherite multitool. As in the low tier list, every entry is marked as not required.[5]

Blocks that are excluded

The mod also ships block tags. The radius harvest blacklist covers cocoa, sugar cane and cactus, and the hoe never required tag covers cocoa. The general blacklist tag in the mod's jar has no entries.[8][9][10]

Which RightClickHarvest config options matter?

3 parts

Same as in the FTB Skies 2 1.22.0 guide

RightClickHarvest has only a handful of options, and they all live in config/rightclickharvest.json5. On a server, that's the file you edit. The pack changes a couple of them from the mod's defaults, so here is exactly how it sets them.[1][11]

Values this pack changed

  • harvestInRadius is false in the pack. The mod's default is true, which lets higher tier hoes harvest a bigger area. In the pack, that radius scaling is switched off.[1][11]
  • showServerWarning is false in the pack. The mod's default is true, which shows a warning when you connect to a server that doesn't have RightClickHarvest installed. The pack turns that warning off.[1][11]

Values that match the mod's defaults

  • requireHoe is false, the same as the mod default. You don't need to hold a hoe to harvest crops.[1][11]
  • experienceType is set to NONE, which matches the mod's default of none. This option decides whether harvesting consumes or rewards XP.[1][11]

Hunger

hungerLevel is set to NORMAL in the pack. The mod page lists its default as none, and the option controls the amount of hunger required when harvesting.[1][11]

Tip: If right click harvesting ever stops working for you, check requireHoe first. The mod page names it as the most common cause, because when it's true you have to be holding a hoe. In this pack it's false, so a hoe isn't needed.[1][11]

What changed in RightClickHarvest between versions?

1 part

FTB Skies 2 1.23.0 ships RightClickHarvest version 4.6.1+1.21.1. The mod has been in the pack since FTB Skies 2 1.0.1 or earlier. There are no pack changelog entries for this mod, so what follows comes from the mod's own changelogs.[12]

Mod releases

  • 4.6.1+1.21.1 (the version in this pack): harvesting now grants statistics.[12][13]
  • 4.6.0+1.21.1: new modded hoes were added to the tier tags, and a warning message spam issue was fixed.[14]
  • 4.5.3+1.21.1: Turkish localization was added. The 'install on server' warning was temporarily disabled until the author can debug the issue.[15]

The mod's changelogs don't say anything about changed defaults or recipes, so nothing here differs from what you'd expect from the mod itself.[13][14][15]
