What is RightClickHarvest?

4 parts

Same as in the FTB Skies 2 1.22.0 guide

RightClickHarvest does one job: you right click a mature crop and it harvests it, and the seeds are replanted automatically. No more breaking and replanting by hand, which is a big time saver once your farms get large.[1]

This pack ships RightClickHarvest 4.6.1+1.21.1, the NeoForge build.[2]

What it covers

  • All vanilla crops work, including cocoa beans, cactus and sugar cane.[1]
  • Enchanting your hoe with Fortune gives you a higher yield.[1]
  • The mod says it harvests 99.9% of modded crops without extra configuration, so most farming from other mods should work as is.[1]

Who it is for

It is for anyone who farms regularly. That includes early game players who want quick, low-effort harvests and later players who run big crop setups and want to cut the clicking.[1]

Options worth knowing

The mod can be configured to require a hoe, to let higher tier hoes harvest in a larger radius, to charge hunger for harvesting, and to consume or reward XP. The mod's own defaults are no hoe required, radius harvesting on, and no hunger or XP cost. These are the mod's defaults. The sources I have do not show whether this pack changes any of them, so check the config in your own instance.[1]

Tip: If right clicking does nothing, check whether Require Hoe is set to true. The mod's FAQ names this as the most common cause, because you then need to hold a hoe to harvest.[1]

Multiplayer notes

The mod must be installed on the server. Installing it on the client is optional. On a server, the config file is config/rightclickharvest.json5. It requires Architectury API and JamLib.[1]

Unverified No quest or ATM Star path involvement for RightClickHarvest could be confirmed from the sources, so its place in this pack's progression is not documented here.

How do you get started with RightClickHarvest?

2 parts

RightClickHarvest lets you harvest crops with a right click, and the seeds are replanted for you. It works on all vanilla crops, including cocoa beans, cactus and sugar cane, and on most modded crops without extra configuration.[1]

Your first steps

  1. Grow some crops, wait until they are fully grown, then right click them. You get the drops and the crop is replanted automatically.[1]
  2. You don't need a hoe to start. This pack sets requireHoe to false, so you can harvest with an empty hand or any item.[3][4]
  3. Still, a hoe is worth having in your hand. Enchant it with Fortune to get a higher yield from your harvests.[1]
  4. Try different hoe tiers. harvestInRadius is true in this pack, so better hoes harvest multiple blocks in a radius instead of just one.[1][3][4]

What harvesting costs you

Nothing. This pack sets hungerLevel to NONE, so harvesting doesn't use up food, and experienceType to NONE, so it neither takes nor gives XP. You can change either option in config/rightclickharvest.json5 if you want harvesting to cost hunger or XP, or to reward XP.[1][3][4]

Watch out: The mod has to be installed on the server. Installing it on the client is optional. If you join a server without it, the mod won't work, and showServerWarning (true in this pack) shows a warning about that.[1][3][4]
Tip: If right click harvesting ever stops working, check requireHoe first. When it is true, you have to hold a hoe to harvest crops such as wheat and carrots. This pack ships it as false.[1][3][4]

Unverified No in-pack recipes or quests for this mod could be confirmed, so there is no crafting step to follow here.

How does RightClickHarvest work?

4 parts

RightClickHarvest is a harvesting mod, not a tech mod. The sources describe no machines, multiblocks, power, fluids or automation for it. What it does is let you harvest crops and plants with a right click, so this section covers how that works and how the pack has it set up.[1]

How harvesting works

Right click a crop and you harvest it, and the seeds are replanted automatically. It handles all the vanilla crops, including cocoa beans, cactus and sugar cane. The mod says it can harvest 99.9% of modded crops without extra configuration.[1]

If you enchant your hoe with Fortune, you get a higher yield from your harvests.[1]

Server and client

The mod must be installed on the server. Installing it on the client is optional. If you join a server without it, the mod will not work, and a warning can be shown to tell you so. Architectury API and JamLib are required dependencies, and Fabric API is needed as well on Fabric.[1]

Settings in this pack

Everything is controlled from config/rightclickharvest.json5. On servers you edit that file directly. Here is what each option does and what this pack sets it to.[1][3]

  • requireHoe: whether certain crops, such as wheat and carrots, can only be harvested while you hold a hoe. The pack sets it to false, so you don't need a hoe.[1][3][4]
  • harvestInRadius: whether higher tier hoes harvest multiple blocks in a bigger radius. The pack sets it to true. The sources don't give the actual radius for each tier.[1][3][4]
  • hungerLevel: how much food harvesting uses. The choices are None, Low, Normal and High. The pack sets it to NONE, so harvesting costs no hunger.[1][3][4]
  • experienceType: whether harvesting takes XP (Cost XP), gives XP (Reward XP) or does neither (None). The pack sets it to NONE.[1][3][4]
  • showServerWarning: whether to warn you when you play on a server that doesn't have the mod. The pack leaves it at true.[1][3][4]

The file also contains hasUserBeenWarnedForNotUsingHoe, which is set to false in the pack. The sources don't explain what it does.[3]

Tip: If right click harvesting doesn't work, the most common cause is that Require Hoe is set to true, which means you must hold a hoe. In this pack it is false, so check that you're using the mod on a server that has it installed.[1][3]

Tags

The mod also offers block and item tags to customise its behaviour. The sources here don't list their names or contents, so check the mod's own documentation for details.[1]

Which RightClickHarvest config options matter?

1 part

RightClickHarvest keeps its settings in config/rightclickharvest.json5. On a server, that file is the one you edit. This pack leaves every option that has a documented default at that default, so you get the standard mod behaviour out of the box.[1][3]

How the pack sets the main options

  • requireHoe is false in this pack, the same as the mod default. You can harvest crops with an empty hand, no hoe needed.[1][3]
  • harvestInRadius is true, which is also the default. With it on, higher tier hoes harvest in a bigger radius.[1][3]
  • hungerLevel is "NONE", matching the mod default. Harvesting does not cost you hunger points.[1][3]
  • experienceType is "NONE", matching the mod default. Harvesting neither consumes nor rewards XP.[1][3]
  • showServerWarning is true, the default. It shows a warning when you connect to a server that does not have RightClickHarvest installed, because the mod will not work there.[1][3]
  • hasUserBeenWarnedForNotUsingHoe is false in the pack's file. The sources I have don't describe what this one does or list a default for it, so I can't say more about it.[3]
Tip: If harvesting ever stops working for you, check requireHoe first. When it is true you have to hold a hoe to harvest crops. In this pack it is false.[1][3]

Remember that the mod must be installed on the server. Installing it on the client as well is optional.[1]
