What is Item Collectors?

3 parts

Item Collectors adds collector blocks that pick up item drops within a set range and put them into a container, so you don't have to chase loose items around your base. This pack includes version 1.1.10 of the mod, built for NeoForge on Minecraft 1.21.[1][2]

The two collectors

In the GUI you can change the range separately for the x-, y- and z-axis with the arrow buttons. The mod's project page also says items can be whitelisted or blacklisted, and it lists filtering as an Advanced Collector feature.[1]

How it works

Place the block you want the items to go into, then put the collector on top of it. Collected items go into the block directly below the collector. There is no cap on how many items it collects: it instantly grabs everything in its range.[1]

Where it sits in the quest book

In this pack's quest book, both collectors appear in the "logistics" chapter. They are the tasks of a single quest, "Item Collectors" quest, which asks for the basic collector and the advanced collector.[3]

Unverified The sources here do not show Item Collectors on the ATM Star quest path, so this overview does not place it there.

How do you get started with Item Collectors?

3 parts

Item Collectors is a small mod with a simple job: it picks up loose items around it so you don't have to chase them. This pack has two collectors, and you make them in order: the basic one first, then the advanced one.[1][4][5]

Step 1: the Basic Collector

Start with the Basic Collector. It picks up items in an area around itself, so drops don't pile up on the floor.[4][5]

This is the pack's recipe for the basic collector.

Step 2: the Advanced Collector

Once you have a basic collector, you can make the Advanced Collector. It does the same job, but its items can be filtered. That lets you pull in only what you want and leave the rest alone.[4][5]

This is the pack's recipe for the advanced collector.

The mod's project page says the filter works as a whitelist or a blacklist.[1]

Setting one up

  1. Place the block you want the items to end up in, such as a chest.[1]
  2. Place the collector on top of that block. Collected items go into the block directly below the collector.[1]
  3. Right-click the collector to open its GUI. There you can change the range on the x-, y- and z-axis with the arrow buttons.[1]
Tip: The project page says there is no limit on how many items a collector takes. It instantly picks up everything in range. Make sure the block below can hold what you're sending it.[1]

If you follow the quest book, both collectors are the tasks of one quest in the logistics chapter: "Item Collectors" quest.[3]

How does Item Collectors work?

4 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.1 guide

Item Collectors is a small mod with a simple job: it picks up loose items in an area around itself, so you don't have to chase drops. There are two blocks, the Basic Collector and the Advanced Collector.[1][6][7]

Basic vs. Advanced Collector

Filtering means items can be whitelisted or blacklisted. That lets you pull in only the drops you want, or ignore the ones you don't. The project page lists filtering only under the Advanced Collector, so don't expect it on the Basic one.[1][6]

Placing a collector

Where the collected items end up depends on where you put the collector. Collected items go into the block directly below it, so set up your storage first and place the collector on top.[1]

  1. Place the block you want the items to go into.[1]
  2. Place the collector on top of that block.[1]

Setting the range

Right-click a collector to open its GUI. There you can change the range separately for the x-, y-, and z-axis using the arrow buttons. You can shrink the area so the collector doesn't grab items you'd rather leave on the ground.[1]

Tip: There is no cap on how many items get collected. A collector instantly collects all items in its range, so make sure the block underneath has room for everything.[1]

Crafting

Unverified The sources here include no config files for this mod in the pack, so it is unconfirmed whether the pack changes the range limits. The ranges above are the mod's own stated values.

How do you progress through Item Collectors?

3 parts

Item Collectors keeps progression simple in this pack: you get the Basic Collector and then the Advanced Collector. Both are made at a crafting table, and the advanced one builds on the basic one.[5]

Quest path

Both collectors appear in one quest in the logistics chapter, "Item Collectors" quest. Its item tasks cover the basic collector and the advanced collector. The quest has no title in the pack files, so look for it in that chapter by those tasks.[3]

Basic Collector

The basic collector is a shaped crafting recipe, and it is where you start with this mod.[5]

Advanced Collector

The advanced collector is also a shaped crafting recipe. It is an upgrade of the basic collector, so craft that one first.[5]

Which FTB Skies 2 quests use Item Collectors?

Item Collectors appears in the quest book's "logistics" chapter, and that is the only quest chapter the sources show for it.[3]

The quest is "Item Collectors" quest, which has no title in the pack files. Its tasks are item tasks: you hand in the Basic Collector and the Advanced Collector.[3]

Which Item Collectors config options matter?

2 parts

The options that matter for Item Collectors all sit under the General section of the common config, starting with General.basicCollectorMaxRange. They cover how far each collector can reach and whether it gets an item filter. This pack leaves all of them at the mod default, so nothing here behaves differently from a plain install.[8]

Maximum range

These are maximums, not fixed sizes. You can still set a smaller range on each axis in the collector's GUI, which you open with a right-click, using the arrow buttons for the x-, y- and z-axis.[1]

Filters

Tip: If you want to filter items, use the advanced collector. The basic collector has its filter turned off in this pack's config.[1][8]

What changed in Item Collectors between versions?

There isn't much history to dig through here, and that's a good sign: Item Collectors has stayed on one version in this pack. FTB Skies 2 1.22.0 ships Item Collectors 1.1.10, the NeoForge build for Minecraft 1.21.[2]

  • Item Collectors 1.1.10 is the mod's initial release for Minecraft 1.21, so its own changelog has nothing earlier to compare against.[9]
  • The mod was already in FTB Skies 2 as of 1.0.1 or earlier, and the pack ships the same 1.1.10 file in 1.22.0.[2]

Unverified No pack changelog entries for Item Collectors were available, so any pack-specific changes to its behavior across releases are unconfirmed.
