Item Collectors is a mod in FTB StoneBlock 4 1.23.0, where it is version 1.1.10. Item Collectors adds Collectors which collect items in a specified range! (Summary from the mod's Modrinth page.)

What is Item Collectors?

3 parts

Item Collectors adds blocks that pull in dropped items within a set range and put them straight into a container. If you're tired of chasing item drops around your farms, this mod is for you. The pack includes version 1.1.10.[1][2]

The two collectors

The mod's project page says items can be whitelisted or blacklisted, and it lists filtering as an Advanced Collector feature.[1]

How to set one up

  1. Place the block you want the items to go into.[1]
  2. Place the collector on top of that block. Collected items go into the block below it.[1]
  3. Right-click the collector and use the arrow buttons to set the range for the x-, y- and z-axis.[1]
Tip: There's no limit on how many items a collector picks up. It instantly collects everything in its range, so make sure the container below has room.[1]

Where it fits in the pack

Both collectors appear as tasks in quest "Item Collectors" quest, in the "useful_items_tips" chapter. That quest also lists Item Collector, a collector from another mod, so you have more than one way to automate item pickup.[3]

How do you get started with Item Collectors?

4 parts

Item Collectors is a simple mod with a big payoff: it picks up loose items around it so you don't have to chase drops. Here is what to make first, and why.[1][4]

Step 1: Make a Basic Collector

Start with the Basic Collector. It picks up items in an area around itself. That makes it a good first helper for any farm or machine that drops items on the ground. The recipe in this pack looks like this:[4][5]

Basic CollectorMod recipe

Crafting Shaped

Crafting Shaped
Empty slotany ender pearlEmpty slot
Empty slotany obsidianEmpty slot
any obsidianany obsidianany obsidian

Recipe id: itemcollectors:basic_collector

The mod's project page lists a range of up to 5 blocks for the Basic Collector. The sources don't show whether the pack changes that, so check the in-game GUI for the real limit.[1]

Step 2: Place it correctly

  1. Place the block you want the items to go into, such as a chest.[1]
  2. Place the collector on top of that block. Collected items go into the block directly below the collector.[1]
  3. Right-click the collector to open its GUI and set the range for the x-, y- and z-axis with the arrow buttons.[1]
Tip: The collector grabs everything in its range right away, and there is no limit on how many items it collects. Keep the range tight if you only want to cover one small area.[1]

Step 3: Upgrade to the Advanced Collector

Once the basic version is running, make the Advanced Collector. It does the same job but lets you filter items. Its recipe uses the Basic Collector as an ingredient, so you build on what you already have.[4][5]

Crafting Shaped

Crafting Shaped

Recipe id: itemcollectors:advanced_collector

The project page lists a range of up to 7 blocks for the Advanced Collector, and says items can be whitelisted or blacklisted. That is useful when you only want certain drops to land in your chest.[1]

Quest tip

Both collectors show up as tasks in the quest "Item Collectors" quest, in the useful items and tips chapter. The same quest also lists the item collector from another mod, so you can pick whichever suits your setup.[3]

How does Item Collectors work?

4 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.1 guide

Item Collectors is a small mod with a simple job: it picks up loose items in an area around itself, so you don't have to chase drops. There are two blocks, the Basic Collector and the Advanced Collector.[1][6][7]

Basic vs. Advanced Collector

Filtering means items can be whitelisted or blacklisted. That lets you pull in only the drops you want, or ignore the ones you don't. The project page lists filtering only under the Advanced Collector, so don't expect it on the Basic one.[1][6]

Placing a collector

Where the collected items end up depends on where you put the collector. Collected items go into the block directly below it, so set up your storage first and place the collector on top.[1]

  1. Place the block you want the items to go into.[1]
  2. Place the collector on top of that block.[1]

Setting the range

Right-click a collector to open its GUI. There you can change the range separately for the x-, y-, and z-axis using the arrow buttons. You can shrink the area so the collector doesn't grab items you'd rather leave on the ground.[1]

Tip: There is no cap on how many items get collected. A collector instantly collects all items in its range, so make sure the block underneath has room for everything.[1]

Crafting

The Basic Collector's in-pack recipe is shown below.[7]

Unverified The sources here include no config files for this mod in the pack, so it is unconfirmed whether the pack changes the range limits. The ranges above are the mod's own stated values.

How do you progress through Item Collectors?

3 parts

Item Collectors has a simple path in this pack: you start with the Basic Collector and move up to the Advanced Collector. Both are shaped crafting recipes from the mod, and the pack's recipes are shown below.[5]

Basic Collector

This is your starting point. You can craft it straight away with the recipe below.[5]

Advanced Collector

The Advanced Collector is the upgrade. Its recipe builds on the Basic Collector, so you craft that one first and can't skip it.[5]

Where the quest book puts it

The pack has a quest, "Item Collectors" quest, in the useful_items_tips chapter. It has no title. Its tasks are to obtain the Basic Collector, the Advanced Collector and Item Collector, which comes from a different mod.[3]

Which FTB StoneBlock 4 quests use Item Collectors?

1 part

In this pack, Item Collectors shows up in one place in the quest book: the "useful_items_tips" chapter.[3]

The mod's items appear in a single quest there, "Item Collectors" quest, which has no title in the pack files. With only one quest involved, there is no order to follow.[3]

What the quest asks for

The quest has item tasks for the Basic Collector and the Advanced Collector. It also has a task for an item collector from another mod (justdirethings:itemcollector).[3]

Which Item Collectors config options matter?

2 parts

Same as in the FTB Skies 2 1.22.0 guide

The options that matter for Item Collectors all sit under the General section of the common config, starting with General.basicCollectorMaxRange. They cover how far each collector can reach and whether it gets an item filter. This pack leaves all of them at the mod default, so nothing here behaves differently from a plain install.[8]

Maximum range

These are maximums, not fixed sizes. You can still set a smaller range on each axis in the collector's GUI, which you open with a right-click, using the arrow buttons for the x-, y- and z-axis.[1]

Filters

Tip: If you want to filter items, use the advanced collector. The basic collector has its filter turned off in this pack's config.[1][8]

What changed in Item Collectors between versions?

There isn't much history to cover for Item Collectors. The version in the pack is the mod's initial release for Minecraft 1.21.[2][9]

  • Item Collectors 1.1.10 was the initial release of the mod for Minecraft 1.21.[9]
  • FTB StoneBlock 4 1.21.0 includes Item Collectors 1.1.10, using the NeoForge build for Minecraft 1.21.[2]
  • The mod was first included in FTB StoneBlock 4 1.0.0 or earlier.[2]

Unverified Pack-specific changes to this mod would be listed in the FTB StoneBlock 4 pack changelogs, and the sources here show no entries for it, so I can't say whether the pack changed anything between releases.
