What is GeOre Nouveau?

GeOre Nouveau is included in this pack at version 0.5.4, shipped as the file GeOre_Nouveau-1.21.1-0.5.4.jar. It has been part of the pack since version 1.0.1 or earlier, so it isn't a recent addition.[1]

Unverified The sources I have don't describe what GeOre Nouveau does, who it's meant for, or how it fits into this pack's progression. I haven't confirmed any of its mechanics, items or recipes, so I'm leaving them out rather than guessing. There is also no confirmed ATM Star path or quest connection for this mod.

How do you get started with GeOre Nouveau?

4 parts

GeOre Nouveau is about finding ore-themed Geores with the help of Ars Nouveau magic. In this pack, the mod's craftable items in the sources are the GeOre dowsing rods, so that's where you start.[2][3]

First: get a base Dowsing Rod

Every GeOre dowsing rod in this pack is crafted from an Dowsing Rod plus one material that matches the ore you want to find. So you need the base rod before anything else.[2]

Next: make a rod for an ore you need early

Each rod grants Magic Find and Scrying when you use it. Magical creatures glow, and the matching Geore is revealed through blocks. That gives you a way to locate the ore you're after instead of digging blind.[3]

Good first picks are the rods for ores you'll need straight away. The Iron GeOre Dowsing Rod and the Copper GeOre Dowsing Rod are both recipes the pack changed, so go by what the recipe blocks below show and not by the mod's defaults.[2]

The Coal GeOre Dowsing Rod is a plain mod recipe, so the pack has not changed it.[2]

Then: move on to the valuable rods

Once your early ores are covered, you can build rods for rarer materials. The pack changed the Gold, Diamond and Lapis recipes too (and Emerald), so look at the recipe blocks instead of assuming the mod defaults. Remember that each rod only reveals its own Geore type.[2][3]

The same set also covers many modded materials, including tin, zinc, silver, lead, nickel, osmium and uranium. Each has its own rod, such as the Tin GeOre Dowsing Rod and the Zinc GeOre Dowsing Rod.[2]

Tip: The rods have a second job. Use one on an Imbuement Chamber or an Enchanting Apparatus to highlight its linked pedestals, which is handy when you're setting up Ars Nouveau crafting.[3]

Charms

The mod also has a charm for each Geore type. You get one by performing the Ritual of Awakening near the matching Budding Geore.[3]

How does GeOre Nouveau work?

4 parts

The sources for this mod cover ore-specific dowsing rods and charms. They don't describe machines, multiblocks, power, fluid or item handling, so this section stays short and covers only what they show.[2][3]

Dowsing rods

Using a GeOre dowsing rod grants you Magic Find and Scrying. Magical creatures glow, and the matching Geore is revealed through blocks. Each rod is tied to its own material. For example, the Diamond GeOre Dowsing Rod reveals Diamond Geore and the Copper GeOre Dowsing Rod reveals Copper Geore.[3]

The rods can also be used on an Imbuement Chamber or an Enchanting Apparatus to highlight their linked pedestals.[3]

Which rods exist

There is a rod for each of these materials: aluminum, ancient debris, black quartz, coal, copper, diamond, emerald, gold, iron, lapis, lead, monazite, nickel, osmium, platinum, quartz, redstone, ruby, sapphire, silver, tin, topaz, tungsten, uraninite, uranium and zinc.[2][3]

Crafting the rods

All of the rods are made with shaped crafting recipes. The pack changes the recipes for the copper, diamond, emerald, gold, iron and lapis rods. The rest use the mod's own recipes. Here is a changed recipe followed by an unchanged one.[2]

Tip: Many of the rod recipes accept any item from a shared material tag rather than a specific item, so check the recipe block for the rod you want.[2]

Charms

Each material also has a charm. You get it by performing the Ritual of Awakening near the matching Budding Geore, for example a Budding Coal Geore for the coal charm.[3]

Unverified There are no config files for this mod in the pack and no in-jar guidebook was found, so the sources here don't show tunable values, what the charms do once you have them, or the ritual's requirements.

How do you progress through GeOre Nouveau?

2 parts

GeOre Nouveau doesn't have tiers in the usual sense. In this pack, progression is about which ore you want to find. Each ore has its own dowsing rod, and every rod is crafted from the Dowsing Rod plus one material that matches the ore.[2]

Unverified The sources here show no quest that involves this mod, so they don't show where, or whether, the quest book points you to these rods.

Rods the pack has changed

Some rods use recipes that the pack has changed from the mod's own. Check these in your recipe viewer instead of relying on what you remember from the mod's defaults. The sources only mark these recipes as changed and don't say what the originals were.[2]

Rods with the mod's own recipes

Every other rod is marked as a plain mod recipe in the pack, and follows the same pattern: the Dowsing Rod plus the ore's matching material.[2]

Tip: Most of these recipes ask for the material by tag (any ingot, gem, dust or raw material of that type), so any item carrying that tag works. For the modded ores, have that material in hand before you try to craft its rod.[2]

How does GeOre Nouveau work with other mods?

2 parts

The main link for GeOre Nouveau in this pack is Ars Nouveau. Every GeOre dowsing rod in the recipe dump is a shaped crafting recipe that starts from the Dowsing Rod. You pair it with an item for the ore you want to track.[2]

One base rod, many ores

All the GeOre rods use the Ars Nouveau rod as their base. A few take a specific vanilla item: Ancient Debris GeOre Dowsing Rod, Coal GeOre Dowsing Rod, Quartz GeOre Dowsing Rod and Redstone GeOre Dowsing Rod.[2]

An example of a rod made with a vanilla item.

Most of the others accept any item with the matching common tag, such as an ingot, gem, dust or raw material tag. For example, Tin GeOre Dowsing Rod takes any tin ingot, and Ruby GeOre Dowsing Rod takes any ruby gem. Monazite GeOre Dowsing Rod uses a monazite dust, and Uraninite GeOre Dowsing Rod uses a raw uraninite material.[2]

Because these recipes check tags rather than one exact item, any mod that provides the right ingot, gem or dust can supply the material. The recipe viewer in game shows what you can use.[2]

Recipes the pack changed

Some rods use recipes that the pack changed from the mod's own version: copper, diamond, emerald, gold, iron and lapis. These are Copper GeOre Dowsing Rod, Diamond GeOre Dowsing Rod, Emerald GeOre Dowsing Rod, Gold GeOre Dowsing Rod, Iron GeOre Dowsing Rod and Lapis GeOre Dowsing Rod. They still start from the Ars Nouveau Dowsing Rod plus a tagged ingot or gem.[2]

Tip: Every GeOre rod needs the Ars Nouveau Dowsing Rod as its base, so craft or collect a few of those first if you plan to make several GeOre rods.[2]
