What is FTB Quests?
Same as in the All the Mods 10 7.2 guide
FTB Quests is included in this pack as version 2101.1.27, using the NeoForge build of the mod. It has been part of the pack since pack version 2.25 or earlier, so it's been around for most of the pack's life.[1]
Unverified The available sources don't describe what FTB Quests does, who it's aimed at, or how it fits into this pack's progression, so those details are left out until they can be confirmed.
How do you get started with FTB Quests?
5 parts
Getting started with FTB Quests in this pack is a short list. The mod adds a handful of craftable items, and the pack has its own recipes for the Task Screens. Here is the order I would go in.[2]
Start with the Quest Book
Craft the Quest Book first. It is a mod recipe that the pack leaves as it is, and the recipe below is the exact in-pack version.[2]
Craft a Loot Crate Opener
The Loot Crate Opener also uses the mod's own recipe in this pack.[2]

Build a 1x1 Task Screen
The pack adds its own crafting recipe for the Task Screen (1x1). Every other screen recipe in the pack starts from this one, so it is the key item to get.[2]

Scale the screen up or back down
Once you have a 1x1 screen, the pack gives you shapeless recipes for the bigger sizes: Task Screen (3x3), Task Screen (5x5) and Task Screen (7x7).[2]

The pack also adds recipes that turn a 3x3, 5x5 or 7x7 screen back into a 1x1, so you can change your mind about the size.[2]

Finish with the Task Screen Configurator
Last, craft the Task Screen Configurator. Its recipe starts from a 1x1 Task Screen, so make that first.[2]

How does FTB Quests work?
6 parts
FTB Quests isn't a machine mod, so there are no power or fluid systems to manage. The closest thing to automation is the Task Screen, which lets pipes and hoppers feed items into your quest tasks. The rest of the mechanics are the rules for how quests unlock, complete and pay out. This section covers both.[3]
Task Screens and item automation
An item task can be set to consume items. When that is on, there is an extra option that restricts submission to piping into a Task Screen. If it is enabled, you can't hand the items in manually. You have to automate the delivery.[3]
The mod's own text describes an input side ("Place items here to complete quests") and an output side ("Rewards will appear here"). So rewards can come out of the screen as well as items going in.[3]
Item tasks also have a match setting for item data. None ignores component data. Fuzzy only checks the data components present on the filter stack. Strict requires the filter stack's data components to match the checked item exactly.[3]
Crafting Task Screens in this pack
The pack adds its own recipe for the smallest screen, the Task Screen (1x1). It is a crafting step that depends on other mods' items, so check it before you plan your quest setup.[2]

The bigger screens are made from the 1x1 screen. The pack adds shapeless recipes that turn one 1x1 screen into a Task Screen (3x3), a Task Screen (5x5) or a Task Screen (7x7).[2]

Unverified The recipe dump also lists the mod's default screen recipes, such as ftbquests:screen_1. The sources don't say whether they are disabled in the pack. What the Task Screen Configurator does in play isn't explained by the sources either.

How quests unlock
The progression mode decides how dependencies behave. In Linear mode, a quest must be complete before the quests that depend on it can start. In Flexible mode, you can progress tasks in dependent quests at any time, but the dependent quests can't be completed until their dependency is.[3]
- Min Required Dependencies: set it above 0 and the quest becomes an OR quest. Only that many of its dependencies are needed to unlock it.[3]
- Max Completable Dependents: if above 0, only that many dependents can be completed. The rest become unavailable, which is useful for exclusive branches.[3]
- Exclusive quests: completing one makes the other branches unavailable.[3]
- Tasks Ignore Dependencies: lets you start tasks without completing dependencies.[3]
- Require Sequential Tasks: tasks must be completed in the strict order they were added to the quest. This can be set per chapter or per quest, and a quest set to Default uses the chapter setting.[3]
Visibility has its own options. A quest can be invisible until completed, or until a set number of its tasks are done. Its details can be hidden until it is startable, or only the description text can be hidden until completion. A padlock icon marks quests locked by a dependency or exclusion, and that icon can be hidden.[3]
Detection and repeating
The mod checks a player's inventory when it changes, with a minimum delay measured in ticks. Higher values are kinder on server TPS, especially if inventories change often, but auto-completion messages arrive later.[3]
Repeatable quests have a cooldown in seconds. It is the delay between claiming all the rewards and being able to redo the quest's tasks.[3]
Rewards
A team reward is one reward for the whole team, and only the submitting player receives it. When it is off, all online players receive the reward. The Claim All button can skip individual rewards, except Loot, Random and Choice rewards, which can't be changed.[3]
Item rewards can be set to give nothing if you already carry that item, and this check ignores NBT. Command rewards support vanilla substitutions like @p, plus {x}, {y}, {z}, {quest}, {chapter} and {team}. Their permission level runs from 0 for a player up to 4 for the server owner.[3]
Staff can also block rewards for a team with a command. A quest can be set to offer its rewards anyway.[3]
How do you progress through FTB Quests?
4 parts
The sources I have for this mod are the pack's recipes, so this section covers how the Quest Book and the Task Screens fit together. The screens come in 1x1, 3x3, 5x5 and 7x7 sizes, and that size ladder is the only progression the recipes show.[2]
Unverified I can't give you a quest-by-quest progression for FTB Quests here. The quest chapters are where the pack would tell you that, and the sources here do not show any quest involving the mod, so I'm not guessing at one.
Getting started: the Quest Book
The Quest Book uses the mod's own recipe, which the pack leaves as it is. Here's what it looks like:[2]
This is a mod recipe, not one the pack added.
Task Screens: the sizes
Task Screens come as Task Screen (1x1), Task Screen (3x3), Task Screen (5x5) and Task Screen (7x7). The pack adds its own recipe for the 1x1 screen, so that smallest screen is not just the simple mod craft anymore. Plan around the pack recipe below.[2]

Upgrading your screens
The pack adds a shapeless recipe for each bigger size, and each one takes a single 1x1 screen as its input. You don't have to climb the sizes in order: you can go straight from the 1x1 to the 3x3, 5x5 or 7x7.[2]

The pack also lets you go back down. A 3x3, 5x5 or 7x7 screen can each be turned back into a 1x1, so you aren't stuck if you built too big.[2]

Other utility items
Two more items use the mod's normal recipes: the Task Screen Configurator and the Loot Crate Opener. The pack doesn't change either one in the recipe dump.[2]

How does FTB Quests work with other mods?
The one connection between FTB Quests and another mod that the pack's recipes confirm is the Task Screen (1x1). The pack adds its own crafting recipe for it, and that recipe uses the Pity Machine Frame from Industrial Foregoing.[2]
Crafting Shaped

This is a shaped crafting recipe added by the pack.
The other slots in the recipe take any item from a shared tag: wooden chests, glass panes, iron plates and tanks. You aren't locked into one specific item for those slots.[2]
Unverified The sources here show only this one recipe linking FTB Quests with another mod, and they do not show any quests that use items from both mods. Anything further would be in the pack's quest book, which the sources here do not cover.
