Stuck? Why it might not be working
- FTB Quests: the quest says 100%, or the task refuses what you haveTwo things account for most of this in All the Mods 10 8.2, and neither is the one people look for. A quest whose tasks are all done does not close itself — the pack turns auto-claim off, so it shows a button and waits. And a task matches on the item you have far more narrowly than its icon suggests: 858 of the book's item tasks display an item carrying specific data, and only 223 of them actually check it. The detection mechanisms are real but no reporter is recorded hitting one.Written for other versions than All the Mods 11 0.12.0-beta ships. Some steps may no longer match.

What is FTB Quests?
Same as in the All the Mods 10 7.2 guide
FTB Quests is included in this pack as version 2101.1.27, using the NeoForge build of the mod. It has been part of the pack since pack version 2.25 or earlier, so it's been around for most of the pack's life.[1]
Unverified The available sources don't describe what FTB Quests does, who it's aimed at, or how it fits into this pack's progression, so those details are left out until they can be confirmed.
How do you get started with FTB Quests?
3 parts
Same as in the All the Mods 11 0.8.0-beta guide
FTB Quests adds a few craftable items in this pack. Start with the Quest Book, since it's the Quest Book itself.[2]
The Quest Book is a shapeless crafting recipe, so the pieces can go anywhere in the grid.
Task screens
Next are the task screens, which come in 1x1, 3x3, 5x5 and 7x7 sizes: Task Screen (1x1), Task Screen (3x3), Task Screen (5x5) and Task Screen (7x7). Each has its own shaped recipe, shown below.[2]

There is also a Task Screen Configurator, which has its own shaped recipe.[2]

The last craftable item is the Loot Crate Opener, also made with a shaped recipe.[2]

Quest chest
The mod also has a chest block. Its in-game description says that you place items there to complete quests, and that rewards appear there.[3]
How does FTB Quests work?
6 parts
FTB Quests is mostly a quest book, but it also adds blocks that connect quests to the world: task screens, a quest chest, detectors, barriers and a loot crate opener. The sources here only cover names, settings text and a few data files, so this section sticks to what they show.[4]
Quest Book
The Quest Book is crafted with a shapeless recipe.[5]
Task screens
Task screens come in the sizes Task Screen (1x1), Task Screen (3x3), Task Screen (5x5) and Task Screen (7x7). Each one has its own shaped recipe.[5]

When you break any of these screens, the dropped item copies the saved task screen data from the block, so the screen keeps its setup when you pick it up.[6][7][8][9]
A screen's settings list these options: Size, Skin, Task Index, Fullscreen, Hide Icons, Indestructible, Input Only, Input Mode Icon and Draw Text Shadows. If you lack permission to configure a screen you get a "You don't have permission to configure this!" message, and a screen with a problem shows "Broken Block / Missing Data!".[4]
The Task Screen Configurator is a craftable item with a shaped recipe. The sources here do not describe how it is used.[5]

Quest Chest
The Quest Chest has an Input Slot and an Output Slot. The Input Slot is described as the place to put items to complete quests, and the Output Slot is where rewards will appear. There is also an "Auto-Transfer All Items" option.[4]
Detectors and barriers
- Player Detector: has Radius, Height and Offset Y settings, plus a Task and Notifications setting.[4]
- Redstone Detector: has a Required Redstone Level setting, plus Task and Notifications.[4]
- Quest Progress Detector: has an Object ID and an Output Level setting.[4]
- Quest Barrier and Stage Barrier: the Quest Barrier has an Object ID and an "Invisible When Open" option.[4]
- Progress Screen: another block in the mod's list, alongside the task screens.[4]
Barriers also have teleport settings. Leave the dimension empty to teleport within the current dimension. When the relative option is true, the destination is relative to the Barrier block's position. For yaw, 0 is South, 90 is West, 180 is North and 270 is East. For pitch, positive values look down and negative values look up.[4]
Loot Crate Opener
Right-clicking the Loot Crate Opener shows how many items it has stored. When you break it, the dropped item copies its stored loot crate items, so its contents are kept. There is also a separate Loot Crate Storage block.[4][10]

Progression and detection
The quest file has a progression mode. In Linear mode, a quest must be complete before the quests that depend on it are started. In Flexible mode, tasks in dependent quests can be progressed at any time, but those quests can't be completed until their dependency is.[4]
There is also a detection delay: the minimum interval, in ticks, between checks of a player's inventory when it changes. Higher values are kinder on server TPS, especially when inventories change often, but auto-completion messages arrive later.[4]
How do you progress through FTB Quests?
3 parts
FTB Quests has no tier ladder in this pack. What it adds is a handful of craftable items, and the Task Screen is the only one that comes in sizes: 1x1, 3x3, 5x5 and 7x7. Each size has its own recipe, shown below.[5]
