FTB Quests in All the Mods - Gravitas
All the Mods - Gravitas 4.0 ships version 1802.3.15-build.298 · First seen in 2.0
FTB Quests is a mod in All the Mods - Gravitas 4.0, where it is version 1802.3.15-build.298. Questing Mod by FTB (Summary from the mod's Modrinth page.)
Stuck? Why it might not be working
- FTB Quests: the quest says 100%, or the task refuses what you haveTwo things account for most of this in All the Mods 10 8.2, and neither is the one people look for. A quest whose tasks are all done does not close itself — the pack turns auto-claim off, so it shows a button and waits. And a task matches on the item you have far more narrowly than its icon suggests: 858 of the book's item tasks display an item carrying specific data, and only 223 of them actually check it. The detection mechanisms are real but no reporter is recorded hitting one.Written for other versions than All the Mods - Gravitas 4.0 ships. Some steps may no longer match.

What is FTB Quests?
Same as in the All the Mods 10 7.2 guide
FTB Quests is included in this pack as version 2101.1.27, using the NeoForge build of the mod. It has been part of the pack since pack version 2.25 or earlier, so it's been around for most of the pack's life.[1]
Unverified The available sources don't describe what FTB Quests does, who it's aimed at, or how it fits into this pack's progression, so those details are left out until they can be confirmed.
How do you get started with FTB Quests?
4 parts
FTB Quests adds only a few craftable items in this pack, so getting started is quick. Here is the order I'd make them in, and why.[2]
First: the Quest Book
Start with the Quest Book. Right-clicking it opens the quest window, so it's how you get into your quests. The recipe is shapeless, so the ingredients can go anywhere in the crafting grid.[2][3]
A shapeless recipe, so the layout doesn't matter.
Second: a Task Screen
Next, make a Task Screen (1x1). The pack changed this recipe, so don't assume the mod's default applies. Use the one below.[2]
Crafting Shaped

This recipe is changed by the pack.
Task Screens matter for item tasks. If a task has Consume Items turned on and its task-screen-only option set to true, items may only be submitted by piping them into a Task Screen.[3]
Third: bigger screens, when you want them
The larger sizes are Task Screen (3x3), Task Screen (5x5) and Task Screen (7x7). Their recipes are the mod's own, not pack changes. You can skip them until you actually want a bigger screen.[2]

Last: the Loot Crate Opener
The last craftable item is the Loot Crate Opener. Its recipe is the mod's own, unchanged by the pack.[2]

How does FTB Quests work?
6 parts
This section covers how progression, tasks, rewards and Task Screens behave, as far as the available sources explain them. The main item-handling hook is the Task Screen, which lets you pipe items into quests.[3]
Getting into your quests
The Quest Book opens the quest window when you right-click it. You can craft it, and the recipe is below.[2][3]
How progression works
A quest file uses one of two progression modes. In Linear mode, a quest must be complete before the quests that depend on it are started. In Flexible mode, you can progress tasks in dependent quests at any time, but those quests can't be completed until their dependency is done.[3]
Individual quests can bend those rules. Min Required Dependencies turns a quest into an OR quest when it is set above 0. Only that many dependencies are then needed to unlock it, and the plain dependency requirement is ignored. Tasks Ignore Dependencies lets you start tasks without finishing the dependencies first.[3]
Quests can also be hidden. An Invisible quest stays hidden until it's completed. If Invisible Until Tasks is set above 0, the quest shows up once that many of its tasks are done. Hide Details Until Startable keeps a quest's text and tasks locked until you can actually start it.[3]
Tasks and item handling
Item tasks have a few settings that change how items are checked. Match NBT defaults to requiring the item to be in the itemfilters:match_nbt item tag. You can force it to never check NBT or to always check it. Weak NBT Match, when true, only compares the top-level NBT fields that are in the filter item. When false, the NBT must match exactly.[3]
Location tasks check a box. Your X, Y and Z must each be at or above the minimum and below the minimum plus the width, height or depth. XP tasks count levels by default, but you can switch them to XP points instead. The tooltip suggests using a calculator to work out the value.[3]
Task Screens: piping items into quests
Task Screens are how you automate item submission. If an item task has Consume Items on and Task Screen Only enabled, items can only be submitted by piping them into a Task Screen. The pack changed the recipe for Task Screen (1x1), so use the one below rather than the mod default.[2][3]

Larger screens come in Task Screen (3x3), Task Screen (5x5) and Task Screen (7x7). Their recipes are built from the smaller screens.[2]

The quest chest block has matching hints. Its input side says to place items there to complete quests, and its output side says rewards will appear there.[3]
Rewards and loot crates
The Claim All button skips any reward with Exclude From Claim All turned on. That setting can't be changed for Loot, Random and Choice rewards. An item reward with Only One enabled isn't given if you already carry that item, and it ignores NBT when checking.[3]
A team's rewards can be blocked with the /ftbquests block_rewards command. A quest with Ignore Reward Blocking set still offers its rewards anyway.[3]
For loot crates, sneak-right-click to open every crate in your hand at once. You can also craft the Loot Crate Opener with the recipe below.[2][3]

Other file-level settings
The quest file also has a setting to allow obtaining Quest Blocks from the Quests GUI, and a cooldown timer for emergency items to respawn.[3]
How do you progress through FTB Quests?
2 parts
FTB Quests doesn't have a long tech tree of its own. The only tiers I can confirm in this pack are the Task Screen sizes, plus a few starter items you craft to get going.[2]
Starter items
Everything starts with the Quest Book. It's a plain mod recipe that the pack hasn't changed.[2]
If you work with loot crates, the Loot Crate Opener is also an unchanged mod recipe.[2]

Task Screen tiers
Task Screens come in these sizes: Task Screen (1x1), Task Screen (3x3), Task Screen (5x5) and Task Screen (7x7). The tiers are chained, so each larger screen is crafted from the smaller screens below it. The 1x1 is where you start.[2]
