Cable Tiers is a mod in FTB Skies 2 1.24.0, where it is version 1.21.1-0.6.14. Adds better Exporter, Importer, Constructor, Destructor, Disk Interface, Autocrafter, Interface, Requester from Refined Storage and RSRequestify (Summary from the mod's Modrinth page.)

What is Cable Tiers?

2 parts

Cable Tiers is an add-on for Refined Storage. It adds better versions of the Importer, Exporter, Constructor, Destructor, Disk Manipulator, Interface and Requester, and the mod page also lists an Autocrafter. They work with Refined Storage and RSRequestify.[1]

This pack ships Cable Tiers 1.21.1-0.6.14 for NeoForge.[2]

The tiers

  • Elite: 9 more filter slots, 2x faster.[1]
  • Ultra: 27 more filter slots, 5x faster, with the stack upgrade integrated.[1]
  • Mega: 45 more filter slots, 6.5x faster, with the stack upgrade integrated.[1]

The mod page also lists these special features: tag filtering, side-specific inputs for autocrafting, and an import mode for Autocrafters.[1]

A Creative tier exists in this pack as well, for example the Creative Importer and Creative Exporter. The sources here do not give its stats.[3]

Where it fits in the pack

Cable Tiers shows up in the pack's quest book in the refined_storage_2 chapter. Separate quests ask for the Cable Tiers importers ("Cable Tiers Importers" quest), exporters ("Cable Tiers Exporters" quest), constructors ("Cable Tiers Constructors" quest) and destructors ("Cable Tiers Destructors" quest). Each of those quests accepts any of the Elite, Ultra, Mega or Creative versions.[3]

The disk interface quest ("Disk Interface" quest) asks for the base Refined Storage Disk Interface and also for any Elite, Ultra, Mega or Creative disk interface, such as the Elite Disk Interface.[3]

Every one of these quests unlocks after an earlier quest in the same chapter. The importer and exporter quests both follow the same earlier quest.[3]

Unverified Whether the ATM Star quest path uses Cable Tiers is not shown in the sources here, so check the pack's quest book for that.

How do you get started with Cable Tiers?

3 parts

Cable Tiers gives you upgraded versions of the Refined Storage devices you already know: importer, exporter, constructor, destructor and disk interface, plus autocrafter, interface and requester. You start with the plain device and climb the tiers as your base grows.[1]

What to make first, in order

  1. Start with Elite. Pick the device you lean on most, for example the Elite Importer or Elite Exporter. The mod's project page lists Elite as 2x faster with 9 more filter slots. The pack changed the Elite recipes from the mod's own.[1][4]
  2. Move up to Ultra, such as the Ultra Importer or Ultra Exporter. The project page lists Ultra as 5x faster with 27 more filter slots and an integrated stack upgrade. The pack changed these recipes too, so check the recipe below.[1][4]
  3. Go for Mega when you are ready, for example the Mega Importer. The project page lists Mega as 6.5x faster with 45 more filter slots and an integrated stack upgrade. The pack changed the Mega recipes as well.[1][4]
  4. Creative is a separate route. The pack adds its own recipes for the Creative devices, such as the Creative Importer.[4]

The pack's recipes

Here is the importer line as an example. The exporter, constructor, destructor and disk interface have their own recipe ids in the same pattern.[4]

Quests that point you here

The refined_storage_2 quest chapter has quests tied to these devices: "Cable Tiers Importers" quest for importers, "Cable Tiers Exporters" quest for exporters, "Cable Tiers Constructors" quest for constructors, "Cable Tiers Destructors" quest for destructors and "Disk Interface" quest for disk interfaces. They list the Cable Tiers items from Elite upward, so crafting your first Elite devices is a good way to follow the questline.[3]

How does Cable Tiers work?

9 parts

Cable Tiers adds upgraded versions of Refined Storage devices: Importers, Exporters, Constructors, Destructors, Disk Interfaces, Interfaces and Autocrafters. Each comes in Elite, Ultra and Mega tiers, plus a Creative tier. The mechanics come down to speed, energy use, slot counts and a few built-in features, and that's what this section walks through.[1][5]

The tiers at a glance

  • Elite: 9 more filter slots. Its speed value in the pack config is 2.[1][6]
  • Ultra: 27 more filter slots and a stack upgrade integrated. Its speed value in the pack config is 5.[1][6]
  • Mega: 45 more filter slots and a stack upgrade integrated. Its speed value in the pack config is 8. The mod's project page lists 6.5x for Mega, which doesn't match, so go by the pack config.[1][6]

Speed in this pack

Importers, Exporters, Constructors, Destructors and Autocrafters all use the same speed values: Elite 2, Ultra 5, Mega 8. These match the mod's own defaults. Here are the Autocrafter options as examples:[6]

The Disk Interface is different, because the pack changed its speeds. The mod default for each tier was 0:[6]

The Creative tier is far beyond the rest for the other devices too:[6]

Energy usage

Elite, Ultra and Mega each have their own energy usage setting, and the pack leaves them at the mod defaults. The values go up with the tier:[6]

  • Autocrafters, Constructors, Destructors and Interfaces: Elite 5, Ultra 9, Mega 17.[6]
  • Importers and Exporters: Elite 4, Ultra 8, Mega 16.[6]
  • Disk Interfaces: Elite 7, Ultra 11, Mega 19.[6]

Integrated stack upgrade

Constructors, Exporters, Importers and Disk Interfaces each have a stack upgrade setting. In this pack it is on for Ultra and Mega and off for Elite. Items with it show the line "Has a Stack Upgrade integrated" in their tooltip. Check keys like tieredConstructors.ultraStackUpgradeIntegrated and tieredExporters.eliteStackUpgradeIntegrated.[5][6]

Interfaces

Tiered Interfaces are measured by a transfer quota multiplier and their number of input/output slots. The multipliers in this pack are all the mod defaults:[5][6]

Autocrafters

Tiered Autocrafters such as the Elite Autocrafter, Ultra Autocrafter and Mega Autocrafter are faster than a normal one and have extra input slots. Their tooltip shows the exact figures.[5]

Autocrafters also have an import mode setting with these options:[5]

  • Do not import.[5]
  • Import everything.[5]
  • Import outputs from inserted pattern.[5]
  • Import only requested resources.[5]
  • Import only requested resources including sub-ingredients.[5]

Cable Tiers also adds side-specific inputs for autocrafting. The pattern grid gets a "Change input sides (Cable Tiers)" option, which lets you pick the side that resources are inserted from. The side picker offers Down, Up, North, South, East, West or None.[1][5]

Tag filtering

The tiered devices support tag filtering. Click a filter slot to open the advanced filter, which has a Tag Filter option.[1][5]

Upgrading through the tiers

The pack changed the Elite, Ultra and Mega recipes. Each tier is crafted from the one before it, starting from the matching Refined Storage device. Here is the Autocrafter chain. Constructors and Destructors follow the same chain.[4]

How do you progress through Cable Tiers?

4 parts

Cable Tiers gives you upgraded versions of Refined Storage cable parts. In this pack the tier path is Elite, then Ultra, then Mega, and finally Creative. The sources show this for the importer, exporter, constructor, destructor and disk interface.[3][4]

How the tiers connect

The pack changed the mod's recipes for the Elite, Ultra and Mega tiers. Elite starts from the normal Refined Storage part. Ultra is an upgrade of the Elite part, and Mega is an upgrade of the Ultra part. So up to Mega you work through the tiers in order.[4]

Here is the constructor line as an example. The other part types follow the same pattern, each with its own recipe for every tier.[4]

The Creative tier

Creative is different. The pack adds its own recipe for each Creative part, and it takes a different route from the Elite, Ultra and Mega upgrade chain. You will find these recipes under the pack's own namespace, not the mod's.[4]

What the quests ask for

The refined_storage_2 quest chapter has quests for the tiered parts. The importer quest "Cable Tiers Importers" quest, the exporter quest "Cable Tiers Exporters" quest, the constructor quest "Cable Tiers Constructors" quest and the destructor quest "Cable Tiers Destructors" quest each list a task for every tier, from Elite up to Creative. These quests have no titles in the pack files.[3]

The disk interface quest "Disk Interface" quest works a little differently. It has a task for the regular Refined Storage Disk Interface, and another task that accepts any of Elite Disk Interface, Ultra Disk Interface, Mega Disk Interface or Creative Disk Interface.[3]

Colored variants

Every tier also has dyed versions. You make them with a shapeless recipe that combines a dye with a part of the matching tier. The recipe dump shows gray dye for importers, exporters, constructors and destructors, and light blue dye for disk interfaces. It also shows black and blue variants, including autocrafters. The dump is cut off, so it doesn't show every color.[4]

How does Cable Tiers work with other mods?

3 parts

Cable Tiers is built around Refined Storage. It adds better versions of the Refined Storage Importer, Exporter, Constructor, Destructor, Disk Interface, Interface and Autocrafter, and in this pack those versions are tied into the Refined Storage progression through crafting recipes and quests.[1][4]

Elite and Ultra: upgrading Refined Storage parts

The pack changed the Elite and Ultra recipes. Each Elite part is built from the regular Refined Storage part, and each Ultra part is built from the matching Elite part. The Advanced Processor shows up at both steps, so you need Advanced Processors available before you can climb the tiers.[4]

The Importer, Exporter, Constructor, Destructor, Disk Interface, Interface and Autocrafter all follow this pattern. The Importer is a good example of how the steps look:[4]

Creative tier: Creative Ascension

The pack adds its own shapeless recipes for the Creative versions of the Creative Constructor, Creative Destructor, Creative Disk Interface, Creative Exporter and Creative Importer. Each one accepts any item from the matching Refined Storage tag, so you are not locked to one specific variant. Creative Ascension is the special item involved, and the Importer recipe below shows the pattern.[4]

Quests that cover both mods

The Refined Storage 2 quest chapter includes several quests that ask for Cable Tiers items. Each one is untitled in the quest data and unlocks after an earlier quest in the chapter.[3]

Which FTB Skies 2 quests use Cable Tiers?

2 parts

In this pack, Cable Tiers appears in the Refined Storage 2 quest chapter. The quests there are about the upgraded Refined Storage cable devices, and they cover the disk interface, importer, exporter, constructor and destructor.[3]

What the quests ask for

Quest order

None of these quests comes after another Cable Tiers quest. Each is attached to a different quest elsewhere in the Refined Storage 2 chapter, so you can take them in whatever order suits your setup.[3]

Which Cable Tiers config options matter?

5 parts

Almost everything in the Cable Tiers config sits at the mod's own defaults in this pack. The one place the pack changed values is the Disk Interface speeds, so start there. All of these options live in the mod's common config file.[6]

What the pack changed: Disk Interface speed

The mod default for the Disk Interface speed options is 0. This pack sets real values for each tier, including Creative.[6]

Speed on the other cables

Autocrafters, Constructors, Destructors, Exporters and Importers keep the mod's default speed values. Here are two examples.[6]

Integrated stack upgrade

For Constructors, Disk Interfaces, Exporters and Importers, the pack has the stack upgrade built in at Ultra and Mega, but not at Elite. For example, tieredExporters.eliteStackUpgradeIntegrated is false, while tieredExporters.ultraStackUpgradeIntegrated and tieredExporters.megaStackUpgradeIntegrated are true. This matches the project page, which lists an integrated stack upgrade for Ultra and Mega.[1][6]

Energy usage

Energy usage is also at the mod defaults, and it differs by cable type and tier. A few examples:[6]

Interface transfer quota

Tiered Interfaces use a transfer quota multiplier instead of a speed option. The pack keeps the mod defaults:[6]

What changed in Cable Tiers between versions?

2 parts

FTB Skies 2 1.22.0 ships Cable Tiers 1.21.1-0.6.14. The mod has been in the pack since FTB Skies 2 1.0.1 or earlier. Here are the notable changes from the mod's own changelogs, oldest first.[2]

Features

  • 0.3.1: the newly added side button changed to support four modes: Don't import, Import everything, Import pattern outputs, and Import requested resources.[8]
  • 0.4.0: added side-specific inputs for processing patterns. In the Pattern Grid's processing tab, click the new small button on the right hand side to choose which side the resource enters from during autocrafting. These patterns work for both normal and tiered autocrafters.[9]
  • 0.4.3: inputting a pattern in the pattern output slot now also copies the encoded sided inputs.[10]
  • 0.6.9: added a new import mode, Import only requested resources including sub-ingredients. It is ideal for brewing multiple potions in the same brewing stand. This release also added pt_br, thanks to PrincessStellar.[11]
  • 0.6.14: improved performance of sided input. This is the version in 1.22.0.[2][12]

Fixes

  • 0.2.3: tiered disk interfaces now open when you play on a server.[13]
  • 0.2.6: fixed a crash with a Refined Storage 2.0.0 beta build.[14]
  • 0.2.7: fixed a crash when running with a Turkish system locale.[15]
  • 0.6.6: transferring JEI processing recipes on a server now works.[16]
  • 0.6.9: fixed sided input failing when a pattern has the exact same resource encoded across multiple slots.[11]
  • 0.6.11: fixed Lock Mode causing a crash.[17]
  • 0.6.12: fixed duplication when using multiple of the same resource in sided patterns.[18]
  • 0.6.13: fixed a rare crash.[19]

If you use sided patterns in your autocrafting, the later sided input fixes matter most, and you get all of them in this pack version.[2][11][18]
