What is Cable Tiers?
2 parts
Cable Tiers is an upgrade mod for your Refined Storage network. It adds better versions of the Importer, Exporter, Constructor, Destructor and Disk Interface. Its project page also lists upgraded Autocrafter, Interface and Requester blocks. The pack ships version 1.21.1-0.4.0.[1][2]
The tiers
Upgraded blocks come in Elite, Ultra and Mega tiers, and the pack's quests also list a Creative tier. The project page gives these numbers for Elite, Ultra and Mega:[1][3]
- Elite: 9 more filter slots and 2x faster.[1]
- Ultra: 27 more filter slots, 5x faster, and a stack upgrade is built in.[1]
- Mega: 45 more filter slots, 6.5x faster, and a stack upgrade is built in.[1]
The page also lists tag filtering, side-specific inputs for autocrafting, and an import mode for Autocrafters as special features. It gives no stats for the Creative tier.[1]
Where it fits in the pack
You meet Cable Tiers in the Refined Storage 2 quest chapter. There are quests for the Importer, Exporter, Constructor and Destructor, and each one lists the Elite, Ultra, Mega and Creative version of that block as its tasks. For example, a quest in "?" covers the importers, starting with the Elite Importer. a quest in "?" covers the exporters, a quest in "?" the constructors and a quest in "?" the destructors. The importer and exporter quests both come after the same earlier quest.[3]
a quest in "?" is for disk interfaces. It asks for the standard Refined Storage disk interface, plus one of the Elite Disk Interface, Ultra Disk Interface, Mega Disk Interface or Creative Disk Interface. The project page calls this block the Disk Manipulator, but in the pack the items are named Disk Interface.[1][3]
Unverified The sources here do not show whether the ATM Star path uses Cable Tiers. Check the pack's quest book to see how this chapter connects to the rest of the quests.
How do you get started with Cable Tiers?
5 parts
Cable Tiers doesn't add a new storage system. It adds better versions of the Refined Storage importer, exporter, constructor, destructor and disk interface. In this pack those parts come in four tiers: Elite, Ultra, Mega and Creative. Your first steps are deciding which part to upgrade first, then climbing the tiers in order.[1][4]
Step 1: Start from normal Refined Storage
The Elite recipes in this pack are built around the normal Refined Storage version of the same part, so you need a basic Refined Storage setup first. The pack's quest book reflects this. The disk interface quest in the Refined Storage chapter lists the regular Refined Storage disk interface as one task and a tiered one as another.[3][4]
Step 2: Craft Elite versions of the parts you use
Elite is the entry tier, and the pack has changed these recipes from the mod's defaults. The mod's project page lists Elite as 9 more filter slots and 2x faster than a normal part. Start with whichever part is your current bottleneck.[1][4]

Step 3: Follow the quests
The Refined Storage chapter of the quest book has a quest for each of these parts: a quest in "?" for importers, a quest in "?" for exporters, a quest in "?" for constructors, a quest in "?" for destructors and a quest in "?" for disk interfaces. Each one lists the Elite, Ultra, Mega and Creative versions of its part as item tasks.[3]
Step 4: Climb to Ultra, then Mega
When an Elite part isn't enough, craft the Ultra version, and then the Mega version after that. The project page lists Ultra as 27 more filter slots, 5x faster, with a stack upgrade integrated. It lists Mega as 45 more filter slots, 6.5x faster, also with the stack upgrade integrated. These are the mod's listed figures.[1][4]

How does Cable Tiers work?
5 parts
Cable Tiers adds upgraded versions of Refined Storage cable devices: the Exporter, Importer, Constructor, Destructor, Disk Interface, Autocrafter, Interface and Requester. The Requester comes from RSRequestify. These are higher-tier versions of devices you already know, and the tier decides how many slots and how much speed you get.[1]
What each tier gives you
- Elite: 9 more filter slots and 2x faster.[1]
- Ultra: 27 more filter slots, 5x faster, with a Stack Upgrade integrated.[1]
- Mega: 45 more filter slots, 6.5x faster according to the project page, with a Stack Upgrade integrated.[1]
In game, the tooltip on a tiered cable device tells you how much faster it is than a normal one and how many filter slots it has. A tiered Autocrafter shows its speed boost and its total number of input slots instead. There is also a separate tooltip line for devices with a Stack Upgrade built in.[5]
Speed and energy in this pack
Every tiered device has a speed option and an energy usage option in the common config. The tooltips describe them as the speed of that tier and the energy used by that tier. In this pack every one of these values is left at the mod default.[5][6]
For Autocrafters, Constructors, Destructors, Exporters and Importers, the speed values are 2 for Elite, 5 for Ultra and 8 for Mega. Disk Interfaces use much bigger numbers: 2,000 for Elite, 5,000 for Ultra and 8,000 for Mega. Compare tiers within one device type, not across types.[6]
Energy usage rises with tier in this pack. Here is each option with its own value:[6]
- Elite Autocrafter: 5, set by tieredAutocrafters.eliteEnergyUsage.[6]
- Ultra Autocrafter: 9, set by tieredAutocrafters.ultraEnergyUsage.[6]
- Mega Autocrafter: 17, set by tieredAutocrafters.megaEnergyUsage.[6]
- Elite Constructor: 5, set by tieredConstructors.eliteEnergyUsage.[6]
- Ultra Constructor: 9, set by tieredConstructors.ultraEnergyUsage.[6]
- Mega Constructor: 17, set by tieredConstructors.megaEnergyUsage.[6]
- Elite Destructor: 5, set by tieredDestructors.eliteEnergyUsage.[6]
- Ultra Destructor: 9, set by tieredDestructors.ultraEnergyUsage.[6]
- Mega Destructor: 17, set by tieredDestructors.megaEnergyUsage.[6]
- Elite Exporter: 4, set by tieredExporters.eliteEnergyUsage.[6]
- Ultra Exporter: 8, set by tieredExporters.ultraEnergyUsage.[6]
- Mega Exporter: 16, set by tieredExporters.megaEnergyUsage.[6]
- Elite Importer: 4, set by tieredImporters.eliteEnergyUsage.[6]
- Ultra Importer: 8, set by tieredImporters.ultraEnergyUsage.[6]
- Mega Importer: 16, set by tieredImporters.megaEnergyUsage.[6]
- Elite Disk Interface: 7, set by tieredDiskInterfaces.eliteEnergyUsage.[6]
- Ultra Disk Interface: 11, set by tieredDiskInterfaces.ultraEnergyUsage.[6]
- Mega Disk Interface: 19, set by tieredDiskInterfaces.megaEnergyUsage.[6]
The Creative tier is set far higher. Creative speed is 100 for Autocrafters, 15,000 for Constructors, Destructors, Exporters and Importers, and 750,000 for Disk Interfaces.[6]
Unverified The sources do not say what unit the speed and energy numbers are in, or exactly how a speed value turns into items moved per operation. Treat them as relative values for now.
Integrated Stack Upgrade
Constructors, Disk Interfaces, Exporters and Importers each have a config toggle for whether the Stack Upgrade is built in. In this pack it is off for Elite, for example tieredImporters.eliteStackUpgradeIntegrated. It is on for Ultra and Mega, for example tieredImporters.megaStackUpgradeIntegrated. That matches the project page's description of Ultra and Mega. The config lists no such toggle for Destructors or Autocrafters.[1][5][6]
Autocrafting extras
The mod lists tag filtering, side-specific inputs for autocrafting, and an import mode for Autocrafters as its special features. On the pattern side, the side option lets you change which side resources are inserted from during autocrafting. The resource slots in the omni-side pattern grid hold the resources that will be inserted into the target inventory.[1][5]
Unverified The sources do not explain how to switch on the Autocrafter import mode or how tag filtering is configured in the GUI, so check in game before building around them.
Recoloring devices
You can recolor tiered devices with a dye, and the result is a colored variant such as Black Creative Constructor. The coloring recipes are shapeless and take one dye and one device of the matching tier. The ones I could see cover Constructors, Destructors, Disk Interfaces, Exporters and Importers in black and blue.[4]

How do you progress through Cable Tiers?
3 parts
Cable Tiers gives you upgraded versions of Refined Storage devices: importer, exporter, constructor, destructor and disk interface. In this pack each of them comes in Elite, Ultra, Mega and Creative versions.[4]
The tier ladder
Elite is the entry point, and you build it from the matching regular Refined Storage device. The pack changed these recipes from the mod's own, so don't rely on what you remember from other packs.[4]

Creative breaks the chain. The pack adds its own shapeless recipes for it, and they start from a regular Refined Storage device rather than from a Mega one. That means you don't have to climb through Elite, Ultra and Mega first.[4]

Following the quests
The pack tracks Cable Tiers in its refined_storage_2 quest chapter. Each device has its own quest, and the quests list the Elite, Ultra, Mega and Creative versions as items.[3]
- Importer: a quest in "?" lists Elite Importer, Ultra Importer, Mega Importer and Creative Importer.[3]
- Exporter: a quest in "?" lists Elite Exporter, Ultra Exporter, Mega Exporter and Creative Exporter. It unlocks after the same quest as the importer one.[3]
- Constructor: a quest in "?" lists Elite Constructor, Ultra Constructor, Mega Constructor and Creative Constructor.[3]
- Destructor: a quest in "?" lists Elite Destructor, Ultra Destructor, Mega Destructor and Creative Destructor.[3]
- Disk interface: a quest in "?" asks for the regular Refined Storage disk interface, plus any one of Elite Disk Interface, Ultra Disk Interface, Mega Disk Interface or Creative Disk Interface.[3]
Dyed variants
Once you own a device at a given tier, you can recolor it with a shapeless dye craft that takes any item of that same tier. The pack's recipe list includes gray, blue and black variants of the tiered devices, and the disk interfaces also have a light blue recipe.[4]
How does Cable Tiers work with other mods?
3 parts
Cable Tiers is an add-on for Refined Storage. It gives you upgraded versions of the Refined Storage importer, exporter, constructor, destructor and disk interface, so almost everything about how it connects to other mods runs through Refined Storage.[1]
Elite and Ultra: upgrading your Refined Storage devices
In this pack, the Elite recipes are changed from the mod's own. Each Elite device is crafted from the matching Refined Storage device, so your existing Importer, Exporter, Constructor, Destructor and Disk Interface become the base of your upgrades. The recipe also uses the Advanced Processor.[4]

The other Elite devices follow the same pattern, each starting from its own Refined Storage device.
The pack also changes the Ultra recipes. Each Ultra device is made from the Elite version of the same device, so you climb the ladder one device at a time. The Advanced Processor shows up here again.[4]

Creative versions
The pack adds its own recipes for the Creative devices. They are shapeless and use Creative Ascension together with any Refined Storage device of the matching type. Creative Importer, Creative Exporter, Creative Constructor, Creative Destructor and Creative Disk Interface each have their own recipe.[4]

Quests
These upgrades show up in the pack's Refined Storage questline. The chapter has a quest for each device type, and each one lists the Cable Tiers versions of that device.[3]
- a quest in "?" lists the Elite, Ultra, Mega and Creative importers.[3]
- a quest in "?" lists the Elite, Ultra, Mega and Creative exporters.[3]
- a quest in "?" lists the Elite, Ultra, Mega and Creative constructors.[3]
- a quest in "?" lists the Elite, Ultra, Mega and Creative destructors.[3]
- a quest in "?" is the disk interface quest. It has one task for the regular Disk Interface and one for any of the Elite, Ultra, Mega or Creative disk interfaces.[3]
Which FTB Skies 2 quests use Cable Tiers?
2 parts
Same as in the FTB Skies 2 1.22.0 guide
In this pack, Cable Tiers appears in the Refined Storage 2 quest chapter. The quests there are about the upgraded Refined Storage cable devices, and they cover the disk interface, importer, exporter, constructor and destructor.[7]
What the quests ask for
- Quest a quest in "?" is the disk interface quest. Its tasks are the standard Disk Interface and a Cable Tiers disk interface, where the accepted items are Elite Disk Interface, Ultra Disk Interface, Mega Disk Interface or Creative Disk Interface.[7]
- Quest a quest in "?" is the importer quest. It has an item task for each tier: Elite Importer, Ultra Importer, Mega Importer and Creative Importer.[7]
- Quest a quest in "?" is the exporter quest, laid out the same way: Elite Exporter, Ultra Exporter, Mega Exporter and Creative Exporter.[7]
- Quest a quest in "?" is the constructor quest. Its tasks are Elite Constructor, Ultra Constructor, Mega Constructor and Creative Constructor.[7]
- Quest a quest in "?" is the destructor quest. Its tasks are Elite Destructor, Ultra Destructor, Mega Destructor and Creative Destructor.[7]
Quest order
None of these quests comes after another Cable Tiers quest. Each is attached to a different quest elsewhere in the Refined Storage 2 chapter, so you can take them in whatever order suits your setup.[7]
- The disk interface quest a quest in "?" comes after quest a quest in "?".[7]
- The importer quest a quest in "?" and the exporter quest a quest in "?" both come after quest a quest in "?".[7]
- The constructor quest a quest in "?" comes after quest a quest in "?".[7]
- The destructor quest a quest in "?" comes after quest a quest in "?".[7]
Which Cable Tiers config options matter?
3 parts
Everything for this mod lives in one file, config/cabletiers-common.toml. The options are grouped by block type (autocrafters, constructors, destructors, disk interfaces, exporters and importers), and each group has Elite, Ultra and Mega entries plus a Creative speed. The good news is that every speed and energy value in this pack matches the mod default, so the pack doesn't change any of them.[6]
Speed
Each tier has its own speed option, and the pattern is the same across most block types. Here is exactly how the pack sets each one.[6]
- Autocrafters: tieredAutocrafters.eliteSpeed is 2, tieredAutocrafters.ultraSpeed is 5, tieredAutocrafters.megaSpeed is 8 and tieredAutocrafters.creativeSpeed is 100.[6]
- Constructors: tieredConstructors.eliteSpeed is 2, tieredConstructors.ultraSpeed is 5, tieredConstructors.megaSpeed is 8 and tieredConstructors.creativeSpeed is 15,000.[6]
- Destructors: tieredDestructors.eliteSpeed is 2, tieredDestructors.ultraSpeed is 5, tieredDestructors.megaSpeed is 8 and tieredDestructors.creativeSpeed is 15,000.[6]
- Exporters: tieredExporters.eliteSpeed is 2, tieredExporters.ultraSpeed is 5, tieredExporters.megaSpeed is 8 and tieredExporters.creativeSpeed is 15,000.[6]
- Importers: tieredImporters.eliteSpeed is 2, tieredImporters.ultraSpeed is 5, tieredImporters.megaSpeed is 8 and tieredImporters.creativeSpeed is 15,000.[6]
- Disk interfaces use much bigger numbers: tieredDiskInterfaces.eliteSpeed is 2,000, tieredDiskInterfaces.ultraSpeed is 5,000, tieredDiskInterfaces.megaSpeed is 8,000 and tieredDiskInterfaces.creativeSpeed is 750,000.[6]
Energy usage
Energy usage climbs with each tier, and again the pack keeps the mod defaults.[6]
- Autocrafters: tieredAutocrafters.eliteEnergyUsage is 5, tieredAutocrafters.ultraEnergyUsage is 9 and tieredAutocrafters.megaEnergyUsage is 17.[6]
- Constructors: tieredConstructors.eliteEnergyUsage is 5, tieredConstructors.ultraEnergyUsage is 9 and tieredConstructors.megaEnergyUsage is 17.[6]
- Destructors: tieredDestructors.eliteEnergyUsage is 5, tieredDestructors.ultraEnergyUsage is 9 and tieredDestructors.megaEnergyUsage is 17.[6]
- Exporters: tieredExporters.eliteEnergyUsage is 4, tieredExporters.ultraEnergyUsage is 8 and tieredExporters.megaEnergyUsage is 16.[6]
- Importers: tieredImporters.eliteEnergyUsage is 4, tieredImporters.ultraEnergyUsage is 8 and tieredImporters.megaEnergyUsage is 16.[6]
- Disk interfaces: tieredDiskInterfaces.eliteEnergyUsage is 7, tieredDiskInterfaces.ultraEnergyUsage is 11 and tieredDiskInterfaces.megaEnergyUsage is 19.[6]
Integrated stack upgrade
Constructors, disk interfaces, exporters and importers have a StackUpgradeIntegrated toggle per tier. In this pack Elite is false, while Ultra and Mega are true. That lines up with the mod's description, where Ultra and Mega come with the stack upgrade built in. Autocrafters and destructors have no such option in the file.[1][6]
- Constructors: tieredConstructors.eliteStackUpgradeIntegrated is false, while tieredConstructors.ultraStackUpgradeIntegrated and tieredConstructors.megaStackUpgradeIntegrated are true.[6]
- Disk interfaces: tieredDiskInterfaces.eliteStackUpgradeIntegrated is false, while tieredDiskInterfaces.ultraStackUpgradeIntegrated and tieredDiskInterfaces.megaStackUpgradeIntegrated are true.[6]
- Exporters: tieredExporters.eliteStackUpgradeIntegrated is false, while tieredExporters.ultraStackUpgradeIntegrated and tieredExporters.megaStackUpgradeIntegrated are true.[6]
- Importers: tieredImporters.eliteStackUpgradeIntegrated is false, while tieredImporters.ultraStackUpgradeIntegrated and tieredImporters.megaStackUpgradeIntegrated are true.[6]
What changed in Cable Tiers between versions?
1 part
FTB Skies 2 1.9.1 ships Cable Tiers 1.21.1-0.4.0. The mod was already in the pack by FTB Skies 2 1.0.1 or earlier, so everything below up to 0.4.0 is already part of the version you're playing.[2]
Notable changes, newest first
- 0.4.0: Processing patterns now support side-specific inputs. In the Pattern Grid's processing tab, there is a new small button on the right hand side where you choose which side a resource enters from during autocrafting. These patterns work with both normal and tiered autocrafters. This is the version in the pack.[2][8]
- 0.3.1: The newly added side button was changed to support four modes: Don't import, Import everything, Import pattern outputs, and Import requested resources.[9]
- 0.2.7: Fixed a crash when running with a Turkish system locale.[10]
- 0.2.6: Fixed a crash with refinedstorage 2.0.0-beta.6.[11]
- 0.2.3: Fixed tiered disk interfaces not opening when playing on a server.[12]
Unverified No FTB Skies 2 pack changelog entries for Cable Tiers were available, so whether the pack's own release notes mention this mod is unverified.
