What is Simple Weather?
Same as in the All the Mods 10 2.12 guide
Simple Weather is part of the pack's mod list. This version of the pack ships Simple Weather 1.0.13, and the mod has been in the pack since version 0.32 or earlier.[1]
That is all I can confirm for this page. I have no source describing what the mod does in this pack, so I won't guess at its features, settings or recipes. Once there is something verifiable, this section can grow.[1]
Unverified The available sources don't confirm what Simple Weather does, who it suits best, or where it fits in the pack's progression. They also don't show any quests that involve it or a place for it on the ATM Star path.
How do you get started with Simple Weather?
2 parts
Simple Weather is a different kind of mod from most in the pack. The sources here show settings for how weather looks and behaves, so your first steps are about options rather than items to craft.[2][3]
Step 1: Know the one setting that changes gameplay
The pack's common config is config/simple_weather-common.toml. It holds prevent_sleep_reset, which the pack sets to false. When it is turned on, weather no longer stops when players sleep, and thunderstorms subside into gentler weather instead. Because the pack leaves it off, that behaviour is not active by default.[2][3]
Step 2: Tune the visuals to your machine
The mod also has client-side settings, which cover how the weather looks. There is a Rain Settings group and a Snow Settings group. Each has options such as Lifespan, Range, Alpha and Scale.[2]
- Rain Settings also include Turbulence, Collision Particles Chance, Color Blending Frequency, Full Biome Lookup, Calculate AABB, and the Wind X, Y and Z components.[2]
- Snow Settings also include an Outer Range option.[2]
- Particle Count and Particle Count in Thunderstorm are separate options, so you can set storms apart from ordinary weather.[2]
- Holiday FX is its own option, and there is an Enabled toggle for overriding the weather rendering.[2]
If weather effects cost you frames, the particle count options are a natural place to start. The sources here only name these options and do not give their default values.[2]
Unverified The sources here show no crafting recipes and no quests for this mod, so there is no first item to make. Check the pack's quest book to confirm that.
How does Simple Weather work?
2 parts
Simple Weather is a weather mod, and in this pack the sources only show its settings, not machines, multiblocks or any power, fluid or item handling. So this section is short: it covers the two things the sources confirm, the sleep behaviour and the client-side weather visuals.[2][3]
Sleeping and weather
The one common (gameplay-side) option the sources show is prevent_sleep_reset. When it is turned on, it stops weather from clearing when players sleep, and thunderstorms subside into gentler weather instead.[2][3]
This pack sets that option to false, so the sleep-protection behaviour is not switched on here. If you want it, change that value in the config file.[3]
Client-side visuals
The rest of the mod's options are client settings for how weather looks. There is an Enabled toggle for overriding the weather rendering, a general Particle Count, a separate Particle Count in Thunderstorm, and a Holiday FX option.[2]
Rain has its own group called Rain Settings. It lets you tune Alpha, Scale, Lifespan, Range, Turbulence, Collision Particles Chance and Color Blending Frequency. There are also Wind X, Wind Y and Wind Z Component options, plus Full Biome Lookup and Calculate AABB.[2]
Snow has a matching group called Snow Settings with Alpha, Scale, Lifespan, Range and Outer Range.[2]
The sources here do not show the default or pack values for these client options, so check the in-game config screen for the current numbers.[2]
Which Simple Weather config options matter?
The sources I have for Simple Weather in this pack only show one config option, so this section is short.[3]
prevent_sleep_reset is set to false in this pack. The option's description says it prevents weather from stopping when players sleep, and that thunderstorms will subside into gentler weather instead. With it set to false, that behaviour is switched off.[3]

Items and blocks
We can't match this mod to the pack's item list: it registers as simple_weather, and the pack's recipe dump has nothing under that name. That means we found nothing, not that the mod adds nothing. Search the item browser
