What is Euphoria Patches?
2 parts
Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.1 guide
Euphoria Patches is an add-on for Complementary Shaders, covering both the Reimagined and Unbound versions. It adds more optional features and settings on top of the shader. It is developed by SpacEagle17.[1]
It is a visual add-on, so it is for you if you run Complementary and like to tweak how it looks. If you don't use those shaders, there is nothing here for you to set up.[1]
How it works
Every option the add-on adds is disabled by default, so nothing changes until you turn a feature on. You can enable options one at a time. There is also a Popular Settings tab and a preset profile that apply the commonly used options quickly.[1]
In this pack
The pack includes Euphoria Patches 1.9.3-r5.8.1 for NeoForge, shipped as the file EuphoriaPatcher-1.9.3-r5.8.1-neoforge.jar. It was first included in version 2.25 or earlier of the pack.[2]
Unverified The sources do not show any pack quests, progression gates or ATM Star path steps involving this mod, so it is not confirmed to play any part in the pack's progression. The sources also don't say whether the pack ships a Complementary shader pack for you, so check that you have one installed.
How do you get started with Euphoria Patches?
1 part
Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.1 guide
Good news: Euphoria Patches isn't a mod where you craft a starter tool or build a machine first. It's an add-on for Complementary Shaders, so your first steps happen in the shader settings, not in the crafting grid.[1]
It works with the Reimagined and Unbound versions of Complementary Shaders. It adds optional handcrafted features and settings on top of them.[1]
Your first steps
- Make sure you're using one of the Complementary Shaders, either Reimagined or Unbound. Euphoria Patches extends those shaders.[1]
- Open the shader settings and look for the Euphoria Patches options. Every option is disabled by default, so nothing changes until you turn something on.[1]
- Start with the Popular Settings tab. It collects the commonly used options in one place.[1]
- If you'd rather not toggle things one by one, apply the preset profile. It switches on a set of commonly used options for you.[1]
- Turn on other options individually as you find ones you like, since each can be enabled on its own.[1]
Unverified I couldn't confirm any in-pack recipes, items or quests for Euphoria Patches, so there are no recipe blocks here. The exact setting names and where they sit in this pack's shader menu are also unconfirmed.
How does Euphoria Patches work?
2 parts
Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.1 guide
This one is different from most mods you'll see on the channel. Euphoria Patches has no machines, multiblocks, power, fluids or item automation. It's an add-on for Complementary Shaders (the Reimagined and Unbound versions), so everything it does is about how your shader looks and which shader options you can turn on.[1]
How the add-on works
Euphoria Patches expands Complementary Shaders with optional handcrafted features. You get extra settings on top of the ones the shader already has.[1]
Every option is disabled by default. Nothing changes in your game until you switch on the features you want, and you can enable them one at a time.[1]
Modded block support and translations
The project page says modded blocks and translation files can be added to Euphoria Patches. It points to the project's own website for how to do that, so check there if a modded block doesn't look right with the shader.[1]
Unverified The sources don't say which Euphoria Patches options this pack enables, or whether it ships a preset. They also don't describe the individual settings in detail. Check the in-game shader settings screen to see what's available in your version.
Which Euphoria Patches config options matter?
4 parts
All of the settings for Euphoria Patches live in one file, config/euphoria_patcher/settings.toml. Good news: this pack leaves every option in that file at the mod's own default, and the file's comments state the default for each one. Here are the ones you are most likely to care about.[3]
Performance and memory
- advanced.extraDimensionShaderCacheSize is set to 2. That keeps up to two extra dimensions' shader copies in RAM, so switching dimensions does not trigger a long reload. Each extra dimension costs about 50 MB of RAM. Set it to 0 and the shader rebuilds on every change: slower, but no extra memory use. Raise it if you hop between lots of modded dimensions.[3]
Screenshots and sharing settings
- advanced.doEmbedShaderSettingsInScreenshots is set to "enabled". Your screenshots invisibly carry the current shaderpack settings, so you can drop a screenshot onto the Iris/Oculus shader options screen to import those settings, just like a regular settings .txt file. The other modes are "disabled" and "debug".[3]
- advanced.alternativeShaderNames is an empty string, so no alternative shader names are generated. If you want several settings variants to switch between, you can list names separated by commas.[3]
Messages and updates
- display.doDisplayShaderInGameMessage is true. It shows in-game messages from the shader itself, such as an update message, and only works on Iris or Oculus.[3]
- display.doPopUpLogging is true. This controls the Sodium message popup logging.[3]
- updates.doUpdateChecking is "important", so the update checker only considers critical or big updates. You can switch it to "all" or "none".[3]
Maintenance and debugging
- maintenance.doRenameOldShaderFiles is true, so outdated Euphoria Patches folders and config files get renamed, which makes it easy to spot the old ones.[3]
- maintenance.doDeleteOldShaderFiles is false, so nothing outdated is deleted automatically.[3]
- advanced.autoMergeBlockProperties is false, so the fragmented block.properties files are not merged automatically. This mostly matters if you edit those files yourself.[3]
- debug.doDebugLogging is false. The JVM argument -DebugEP=true/false takes priority over this setting if you use it.[3]
What changed in Euphoria Patches between versions?
1 part
FTB Evolution 2 1.1.0 ships Euphoria Patches at version 1.10.5-r5.9.3-neoforge. The mod was already in the pack in 1.0.2 or earlier, so it isn't new in this release.[4]
1.10.5-r5.9.3
This is the build you get in the pack. The mod's own changelog describes it as a bug fix update and points you to the 1.10.5 changelog for the bigger picture.[5]
- Key shader change: updated to Complementary Shaders r5.9.3.[5]
- The changelog also says there is more in this release and sends you to the mod's website for the full list. The sources here don't spell out those other changes.[5]
Unverified The sources here show no FTB Evolution 2 pack changelog entries for this mod, so which version of it earlier pack releases used, or what changed between them, is not confirmed.

Items and blocks
We can't match this mod to the pack's item list: it registers as euphoria_patcher, and the pack's recipe dump has nothing under that name. That means we found nothing, not that the mod adds nothing. Search the item browser
Config options (how FTB Evolution 2 sets them)
10 settings this pack ships for the mod. We don't have the mod's own defaults to compare them against yet.
Show settings
| Setting | FTB Evolution 2 value |
|---|---|
advanced.alternativeShaderNames Here one can set alternative Shader Names which will also be generated alongside the normal one. This is useful if you want multiple different settings you can quickly switch between Default = Empty String, which means no alternative names will be generated. In case of multiple names, separate them with a comma You can also use {baseVersion} or {patchVersion} in names to insert the base shader or Euphoria Patches version. Example: Euphoria Saturated, Comp_{baseVersion} + EP_{patchVersion} Dark Settings, EP High Performance, etc... config/euphoria_patcher/settings.toml | |
advanced.autoMergeBlockProperties Option that enables or disables automatic merging of the fragmented block.properties files into the main block.properties file. The properties files inside "Euphoria Patches/shaders/properties/" will be merged into a single block.properties file at the specified interval if any of them have changed. This helps organizing the files, reduces the number of entries in a single file and improves speed while editing them. Since they are merged automatically into the final block.properties file, the individual files can be edited without worrying about merge conflicts or losing changes. Default = false config/euphoria_patcher/settings.toml | false |
advanced.doEmbedShaderSettingsInScreenshots Option that controls embedding the current shaderpack's settings into screenshots you take with that shader, invisibly. (yes, it is guaranteed 100% invisible to the human eye in 'enabled' mode, done via LSB steganography in the pixel data). This lets a screenshot double as a shareable settings file - dropping it onto the Iris/Oculus shader options screen imports the embedded settings, same as dropping a regular settings .txt file. Modes: 'enabled' (embeds invisibly), 'disabled' (no embedding), 'debug' (embeds normally and saves a visual -debug screenshot to verify bit placement. Purely a visual check, no extra data stored). Default = enabled config/euphoria_patcher/settings.toml | enabled |
advanced.extraDimensionShaderCacheSize Number of extra shader copies to keep in RAM per dimension. Prevents long reload times when switching between dimensions. Uses ~50 MB RAM per extra dimension. Lower if there is limited memory available. It only caches the extra dimension(s) once visited. If more dimensions than this threshold are visited, the oldest cached dimension will be removed. 0 = rebuild on every change (slower but no extra ram usage), 2 = two extra dimensions apart from the current one can be cached. Increase if frequently visiting more modded dimensions or decrease if you have limited memory. Default = 2 config/euphoria_patcher/settings.toml | 2 |
debug.doDebugLogging Option that enables or disables debug logging. Alternatively, one can also set the JVM argument -DebugEP=true/false which takes priority over this setting. Default = false config/euphoria_patcher/settings.toml | false |
display.doDisplayShaderInGameMessage Option that enables or disables the in-game shader messages, for example an update message made by the shader itself. Only works on Iris or Oculus Default = true config/euphoria_patcher/settings.toml | true |
