What is Construction Sticks?
Same as in the All the Mods 11 0.10.0-beta guide
Construction Sticks is part of the pack, and this version ships Construction Sticks 3.2.1 (the file is ConstructionSticks-26.1.2-3.2.1.jar).[1]
It is not a recent addition. It was first included in version 0.0.1 or earlier, so it has been there for the whole life of the pack.[1]
Unverified Which quest chapter or group the pack's quest book places Construction Sticks in, what comes before and after it, and whether the ATM Star path uses it are not shown in the sources here. Check the pack's quest book for those details.
How do you get started with Construction Sticks?
3 parts
Construction Sticks adds sticks that place blocks along the side of a building you are facing, so one click can add many blocks. Here is the order I would make things in.[2]
First: the Stickiest Stick
Start with the Stickiest Stick. It is the lowest tier, and in this pack its durability is 59, the same as the mod default (wooden_stick.durability).[3][4]

If you hold blocks in your offhand, the stick places those instead of the block you are looking at. Shulker boxes, bundles and many containers from other mods can also supply building blocks.[2]
Made a mistake? Hold the bound undo key while looking at blocks to see your last placements with a green border, then press the key again to undo and get the items back. The pack keeps the last 3 operations (misc.UndoHistory).[2][4]
Next: move up a tier
Next come the Copper Stick, Iron Stick, Diamond Stick and Netherite Stick, with the recipes shown below. Higher tiers last longer, and the pack leaves these durabilities at the mod defaults:[3][4]

One value the pack did change: the netherite stick's limit setting is 512 here, down from the mod default of 1,024 (netherite_stick.limit).[4]
Then: templates and upgrades
Once you have a stick you like, craft a Stick Template. Upgrades are enabled on every tier in this pack.[3][4]

The upgrade templates each have their own crafting recipe:[3]
- Angel Stick Template: places a block on the opposite side of the block or row you are facing. Right click empty space to place in midair, with the block in your offhand.[2][3]
- Battery Template: lets the stick use energy instead of durability.[2][3]
- Destruction Stick Template: destroys blocks (not block entities) on the side facing you. Destroyed blocks vanish, but undo can restore them.[2][3]
- Replacement Stick Template: swaps blocks for the type you hold in your offhand.[2][3]
- Unbreakable Template: places blocks without using durability, so the stick never breaks.[2][3]

How does Construction Sticks work?
6 parts
Construction Sticks has no machines, multiblocks or pipes to wire up. It is a set of handheld tools, so the mechanics are about how a stick places blocks, how upgrades are applied, and the numbers the pack sets for each tier.[2][5]
How a stick places blocks
A stick extends a building on the side facing you. Its in-game description tells you how many blocks it can place and how long it lasts. Blocks in your offhand are placed instead of the block you are looking at.[2]
The sticks can pull building blocks from shulker boxes, bundles and many containers from other mods. The mod's blacklisted inventories item tag lists every Sophisticated Backpacks backpack tier, from the plain backpack up to the netherite one.[2][6]
The sources show these keybinds for sticks: Toggle Direction, Toggle Restriction, Toggle Upgrade, Open Stick Options, Show Previous and Undo Operation. The Open Stick Options key opens the option screen.[2]
Placement restrictions and options
The Toggle Restriction key cycles through these lock modes:[2]
- Horizontal: builds a horizontal column in front of the original block.[2]
- Vertical: builds a vertical column in front of the original block.[2]
- North/South: builds a row in the N/S direction on top of the original block.[2]
- East/West: builds a row in the E/W direction on top of the original block.[2]
- No lock: extends from any side of the original block.[2]
The option screen also has a few switches. Direction places blocks either facing the player or with the same direction as the target block. Match is either exact (only blocks that are exactly the same) or similar (dirt and grass types treated equally). Random places random blocks from your hotbar. Replace lets the stick replace things like fluids, snow and tallgrass.[2]
In Similar mode, the pack treats these blocks as equal: dirt, grass block, coarse dirt, podzol, mycelium, farmland, dirt path and rooted dirt. It is set in misc.SimilarBlocks.[4]
Undo
Hold the Show Previous key while looking at blocks and the last blocks you placed get a green border. Press the Undo Operation key while looking at any of them to undo the operation and get the items back. If you used the destruction upgrade, undo restores the blocks.[2]
The pack keeps the undo history at 3 operations via misc.UndoHistory. misc.MaxRange is 100, and the config describes it as a lag-prevention cap on placement range for all sticks, not a balance setting.[2][4]
Upgrades
Upgrades are applied in a Smithing Table. Put the upgrade template together with your stick and the required item, and check the Smithing Table recipes to see which item that is. To switch between installed upgrades, press the Toggle Upgrade key while holding the stick, or use the option screen. wooden_stick.upgradeable and the matching options for the other tiers are all true in this pack.[2][4]
- Angel Stick Template: places a block on the opposite side of the block (or row of blocks) you are facing. Right click empty space to place in midair, with the block you want to place in your offhand. The maximum distance depends on stick tier.[2]
- Destruction Stick Template: destroys blocks (not block entities) on the side facing you. The maximum number of blocks depends on stick tier. Destroyed blocks disappear into the void, so use undo if you make a mistake.[2]
- Replacement Stick Template: exchanges blocks with the type you are holding in your offhand, which is handy for replacing walls after placement.[2]
- Battery Template: lets the stick use energy instead of durability. It stores energy and spends it to place blocks, but you can only charge it if you have a mod that provides a way to do so.[2]
- Unbreakable Template: lets you place blocks without using durability, so the stick never breaks.[2]

Smithing Upgrade (constructionstick)
Recipe id: constructionstick:smithing_upgrade/iron_stick_with_template_angel
misc.AngelFalling is false in this pack. When it is enabled, the angel upgrade places blocks below you while you fall more than 10 blocks, which can save you from drops or the void.[2][4]
Tier values in this pack
Each stick tier has its own durability, angel, destruction and limit values, plus battery numbers. Battery usage is 10 per block for every tier, and battery storage is the amount the battery upgrade can hold. The values below are the mod defaults except where noted.[2][4]
- Stickiest Stick: durability 59, angel 1, destruction 1, limit 3, battery storage 5,000.[4][5]
- Copper Stick: durability 131, angel 2, destruction 3, limit 9, battery storage 10,000.[4][5]
- Iron Stick: durability 250, angel 4, destruction 9, limit 27, battery storage 25,000.[4][5]
- Diamond Stick: durability 1,561, angel 8, destruction 25, limit 128, battery storage 100,000.[4][5]
- Netherite Stick: durability 2,031, angel 16, destruction 81, battery storage 200,000.[4][5]
- The one value the pack changes is netherite_stick.limit, which is 512 here, down from the mod default of 1,024.[4]
What sticks will not touch
The mod's non-placable block tag lists the Powah reactor blocks: starter, basic, hardened, blazing, niotic, spirited and nitro. The non-replaceable tag includes that list, so the sticks leave those blocks alone. See Powah! for the reactors themselves.[7][8]
Blocks with block entities are filtered by a list. In this pack blockentity.BEList holds chiselsandbits, mekanism and waystones, and blockentity.BEWhitelist is false. That makes it a blacklist, so sticks cannot place block entities from those mods, including Waystones. You can list either whole mod ids or single block ids such as minecraft:chest.[2][4]
How do you progress through Construction Sticks?
4 parts
The Construction Sticks mod gives you a ladder of sticks in this pack: the Stickiest Stick (shown in game as Stickiest Stick), the Copper Stick, the Iron Stick, the Diamond Stick and the Netherite Stick. The mod groups all of them in its construction sticks item tag.[3][5]
The tiers below follow the recipes that exist in the pack.[3]
The starting tier: Stickiest Stick
The Stickiest Stick is the only stick with a normal crafting recipe. Every stick above it is made with a smithing recipe.[3]

Higher tiers
The Copper, Iron, Diamond and Netherite Sticks each have their own smithing transform recipe. The blocks below show the exact in-pack versions.[3]

An early shortcut to the Iron Stick
The pack's before_cobble trade list has an entry where you hand over a minecraft:stick and get an Iron Stick back. Like every entry in that list it has a weight of 1. If that trade comes up for you, you can get an Iron Stick without using the recipes above.[9]
Templates and upgrades
Besides the sticks, the pack has a Stick Template and a set of upgrade templates, each with its own shaped crafting recipe: Angel Stick Template, Battery Template, Destruction Stick Template, Replacement Stick Template and Unbreakable Template.[3]

Every tier of stick, from the Stickiest Stick up to the Netherite Stick, has a smithing upgrade recipe for each of those upgrade templates, so no tier is locked out of any upgrade.[3]

Which Construction Sticks config options matter?
4 parts
Construction Sticks is configured in config/constructionstick-startup.toml. This pack leaves almost everything at the mod's own defaults, with one value changed.[4]
The one value the pack changed
netherite_stick.limit is set to 512 in this pack, while the mod default is 1024. It is the only Construction Sticks value in the file that the pack changed.[4]
Per-stick values (mod defaults)
Each stick tier has its own entries in the file. The lists below give the value for each tier, in the order wooden, copper, iron, diamond, netherite.[4]
- Durability: wooden_stick.durability is 59, copper_stick.durability is 131, iron_stick.durability is 250, diamond_stick.durability is 1,561 and netherite_stick.durability is 2,031.[4]
- Angel upgrade placement distance: wooden_stick.angel is 1, copper_stick.angel is 2, iron_stick.angel is 4, diamond_stick.angel is 8 and netherite_stick.angel is 16.[4]
- Destruction upgrade block limit: wooden_stick.destruction is 1, copper_stick.destruction is 3, iron_stick.destruction is 9, diamond_stick.destruction is 25 and netherite_stick.destruction is 81.[4]
- Limit: wooden_stick.limit is 3, copper_stick.limit is 9, iron_stick.limit is 27 and diamond_stick.limit is 128, all mod defaults. Netherite is the changed one, covered above.[4]
- Battery storage: wooden_stick.batteryStorage is 5,000, copper_stick.batteryStorage is 10,000, iron_stick.batteryStorage is 25,000, diamond_stick.batteryStorage is 100,000 and netherite_stick.batteryStorage is 200,000.[4]
- Battery usage is 10 on every tier, for example copper_stick.batteryUsage and netherite_stick.batteryUsage.[4]
The file notes that setting an angel value such as wooden_stick.angel to 0 disables the angel upgrade for that stick. Setting a destruction value such as wooden_stick.destruction to 0 disables the destruction upgrade.[4]
Every tier also has its upgradeable key set to true, so you can put a stick together with a stick upgrade in a smithing table. See diamond_stick.upgradeable for an example.[4]
Global settings
- misc.MaxRange is 100, the same as the mod default. The file says it affects all sticks and is meant for lag prevention, not game balancing, and that 0 means unlimited.[4]
- misc.UndoHistory is 3, the mod default. It is the number of operations that can be undone.[4]
- misc.AngelFalling is false. When enabled, the angel upgrade places blocks below you while you fall more than 10 blocks, which can save you from drops or the void.[4]
- misc.SimilarBlocks makes Similar mode treat these as equal: dirt, grass block, coarse dirt, podzol, mycelium, farmland, dirt path and rooted dirt.[4]
Block entity filter
blockentity.BEWhitelist is false, so blockentity.BEList works as a blacklist. The list holds the mod ids chiselsandbits, mekanism and waystones, so the sticks are prevented from placing block entity blocks from those mods.[4]
