What is PotionsMaster?

Same as in the All the Mods 10 6.0 guide

PotionsMaster is part of this pack, which ships version 0.7.1-packdev of the mod. It has been in the pack since at least version 2.25, so it's been part of the modlist for a while.[1]

Unverified No sources were available to confirm what the mod adds, how its mechanics work, who it's aimed at, or where it fits in the pack's progression. Check the items in JEI/EMI and the mod's own documentation until this section can be expanded. This site does hold All the Mods - Gravitas's own recipes, read from the pack itself: look the item up in the item browser.

How do you get started with PotionsMaster?

5 parts

PotionsMaster is all about grinding materials into powders, and then smelting many of those powders into calcinated versions. Before you can do any of that, you need a pair of tools. Here's the order I'd go in.[2]

Craft the Pestle and the Mortar

Every powder crafting recipe in the pack uses both the Pestle and the Mortar, so these come first. The Pestle is the mod's own recipe. The Mortar's recipe has been changed by the pack, so don't trust a recipe you remember from another modpack. The blocks below show the exact in-pack versions.[2]

Make Ender Powder

Ender Powder is the most important powder to get going, because most of the other powder recipes in the pack call for it, including Iron Powder, Gold Powder, Diamond Powder and Redstone Powder. The exceptions are Charcoal Powder and Bismuth Powder, which don't need it.[2]

Try an easy powder and smelt it

Charcoal Powder is a nice first test of the system, because it doesn't need Ender Powder. Smelt it and you get Activated Charcoal.[2]

Move on to the metal and gem powders

Once you have Ender Powder, you can start on the metal and gem powders. The pack changed the recipes for these powders: Aluminium Powder, Bismuth Powder, Copper Powder, Iron Powder, Lapis Lazuli Powder, Nickel Powder, Silver Powder, Tin Powder and Zinc Powder. The recipe blocks show the exact in-pack recipes, so check them before you gather materials.[2]

Calcinate your powders

Most powders have a calcinated version made by smelting them, for example Calcinated Iron Powder. The pack changed the calcinating recipes for aluminium, bismuth, copper, iron, nickel, silver, tin and zinc. The others, such as Calcinated Gold Powder and Calcinated Lapis Lazuli Powder, are the mod's own recipes.[2]

How does PotionsMaster work?

4 parts

Here's the honest picture, and it's a simple one. The sources for this mod only cover crafting and smelting recipes. They don't describe any machines, multiblocks, power or fluid handling, or automation, so I'm not going to invent any. What I can show you is how the powder system works in this pack.[2]

The Pestle and Mortar

Everything starts with the Pestle and the Mortar. Every powder grinding recipe in the sources is a shapeless crafting recipe that includes both of them, so you make powders right in the crafting grid with no machine involved.[2]

Ender Powder is the key ingredient

Ender Powder is the gateway to most of the other powders. You make it with the Pestle and Mortar, and nearly all of the other grinding recipes use it as an extra ingredient. Make a stack of it early.[2]

Grinding materials into powders

The powder recipes cover vanilla materials and modded metals. The vanilla and mineral powders are Coal Powder, Charcoal Powder, Diamond Powder, Emerald Powder, Quartz Powder, Redstone Powder, Gold Powder and Netherite Powder. The metal and gem powders are Iron Powder, Copper Powder, Lapis Lazuli Powder, Tin Powder, Zinc Powder, Nickel Powder, Silver Powder, Aluminium Powder and Bismuth Powder.[2]

The metal and gem powder recipes accept items from shared tags, so the material can come from whichever mod in the pack provides it.[2]

The pack has changed several of these recipes from the mod's own versions. The changed ones are aluminium, bismuth, copper, iron, lapis, nickel, silver, tin and zinc powder. The coal, charcoal, diamond, emerald, ender, gold, netherite, quartz and redstone powder recipes are the mod's own. Check each recipe in-game or on its item page rather than assuming defaults.[2]

Calcining powders in a furnace

Some powders can be processed further. The sources show smelting recipes that turn a powder into a calcinated version. Calcinated Coal Powder comes from Coal Powder, while Calcinated Aluminium Powder, Calcinated Bismuth Powder and Calcinated Copper Powder come from their matching powders. The pack has changed the aluminium, bismuth and copper ones.[2]

Charcoal Powder follows the same pattern. Smelting it gives Activated Charcoal.[2]

Tip: The Pestle and Mortar show up in nearly every powder recipe, so crafting them first saves you a trip back later.[2]

How do you progress through PotionsMaster?

5 parts

PotionsMaster doesn't have a formal tier system in this pack. What you get is a short crafting chain that runs from hand tools to base powders and then to calcinated powders. Here's the order to follow.[2]

Unverified The sources here do not show any quest chapter that covers PotionsMaster, so there is no quest-guided path to describe. The breakdown below follows the in-pack recipes only, and the pack's quest book is where you would check for anything more.

First: the tools

Every powder recipe needs both the Pestle and the Mortar, so craft these first. The Pestle is the mod's own recipe. The pack changed the Mortar recipe, so use the card below, not what you remember from the mod.[2]

Next: Ender Powder

Ender Powder is the key item of the whole chain. Most of the other powders consume it, and you make it with the same Pestle and Mortar.[2]

Then: base powders

Once you have Ender Powder, you can grind a wide range of materials. The mod's own recipes cover Coal Powder, Diamond Powder, Emerald Powder, Gold Powder, Quartz Powder, Redstone Powder and Netherite Powder.[2]

The metal and lapis powders are the ones the pack changed: Aluminium Powder, Copper Powder, Iron Powder, Lapis Lazuli Powder, Nickel Powder, Silver Powder, Tin Powder and Zinc Powder. The card below shows the pack's version for one of them.[2]

Iron PowderChanged by the pack

Bismuth Powder is also a pack-changed recipe. It does not use Ender Powder, so you can make it as soon as you have the Pestle and Mortar.[2]

Finally: calcinated powders

Each base powder has a calcinated version, made by smelting the powder. This covers every powder above, including Calcinated Coal Powder, Calcinated Diamond Powder, Calcinated Gold Powder and Calcinated Netherite Powder. The pack changed the smelting recipes for the aluminium, bismuth, copper, iron, nickel, silver, tin and zinc versions. The coal, diamond, emerald, gold, lapis, netherite, quartz and redstone versions are still the mod's own recipes.[2]

Side branch: charcoal

Charcoal has its own route that doesn't need Ender Powder. You grind it into Charcoal Powder, then smelt that into Activated Charcoal. Both are the mod's own recipes.[2]

Tip: Make Ender Powder early. Most of the base powders use it as an ingredient, so you will want it ready before you start grinding the rest.[2]
