What is PotionsMaster?

Same as in the All the Mods 10 6.0 guide

PotionsMaster is part of this pack, which ships version 0.7.1-packdev of the mod. It has been in the pack since at least version 2.25, so it's been part of the modlist for a while.[1]

Unverified No sources were available to confirm what the mod adds, how its mechanics work, who it's aimed at, or where it fits in the pack's progression. Check the items in JEI/EMI and the mod's own documentation until this section can be expanded. This site does hold All the Mods - Gravitas's own recipes, read from the pack itself: look the item up in the item browser.

How do you get started with PotionsMaster?

5 parts

PotionsMaster is about grinding materials into powders. Every powder recipe in this pack needs the Pestle and the Mortar in the crafting grid, so those are the first things to make.[2]

Make the Pestle

The Pestle is a shaped crafting recipe. Here is the exact in-pack recipe:[2]

Make the Mortar

The pack changes the Mortar recipe, so don't rely on the mod's default. Use this one:[2]

Grind Ender Powder first

Next, make Ender Powder. Almost every other powder recipe in the pack also asks for it, so it is the key to everything else.[2]

The one exception is Charcoal Powder, which only needs the Pestle and Mortar plus its base material.[2]

Branch out into other powders

Once you have Ender Powder, the pack has recipes for these powders:[2]

Redstone Powder is a simple one to try once you have Ender Powder.

Smelt powders into their upgraded forms

Each powder can be smelted into a processed version. Charcoal Powder becomes Activated Charcoal, and the others become calcinated powders such as Calcinated Redstone Powder. The smelting recipes take just the powder.[2]

How does PotionsMaster work?

3 parts

Here's the quick version: the PotionsMaster recipes in the sources use the crafting grid and smelting. None of them involve a machine, a multiblock, power or fluids. You grind materials into powders with a hand tool pair, then smelt most of those powders into a refined form.[2]

The tool pair: Pestle and Mortar

Every powder recipe is shapeless crafting that includes both the Pestle and the Mortar. Because the recipes are shapeless, you can put the ingredients in the grid in any layout.[2]

The Pestle is a shaped recipe that takes a diamond gem and a quartz gem. Any item from the matching gem tags works.[2]

The Mortar is a shaped recipe made from a brick ingot and a stone. The pack has changed this recipe from the mod's version, so follow the recipe below.[2]

Grinding powders

Ender Powder is the key base material. It is ground from an ender pearl, and most of the other powders need it as well: coal, diamond, emerald, gold, lapis, netherite, quartz and redstone. The exception in the sources is Charcoal Powder, which skips it.[2]

Some recipes accept any item from a tag rather than one specific item. Diamond, emerald and lapis powders take any item from the matching gem tag. Gold powder takes any item from the gold ingot tag. That means gems or ingots from other mods can work, as long as they carry those tags.[2]

Smelting into refined powders

Most powders can then be smelted into a refined version, each powder giving its own result. Charcoal Powder becomes Activated Charcoal. The coal, diamond, emerald, gold, lapis, netherite, quartz and redstone powders each become a Calcinated version.[2]

The other Calcinated powders are smelted from their matching powder in the same way.

Tip: The sources show no smelting recipe for Ender Powder. It is a grinding-only base material that feeds the other powder recipes.[2]

How do you progress through PotionsMaster?

4 parts

Unverified No quests in this pack involve PotionsMaster, and the mod is not on the main quest path, so the sources here show no quest line to follow. This section follows the in-pack recipes instead.

PotionsMaster progression in this pack is a crafting chain rather than a set of named tiers. You make a pair of tools, grind items into powders, then smelt those powders into calcinated or activated forms. Here is the chain in the order you'll hit it.[2]

First: the tools

Every powder recipe uses both the Pestle and the Mortar, so these come first. The Mortar recipe is changed by the pack, so don't assume the mod's default recipe applies. The Pestle uses the mod's own recipe.[2]

Next: your first powders

Only Ender Powder and Charcoal Powder can be made with just the tools plus a base item. Ender Powder matters most, because the rest of the powders all need it, except Charcoal Powder.[2]

Then: the Ender Powder powders

Once you have Ender Powder, you can grind a whole set of further powders. Each is a shapeless craft with the Pestle and Mortar.[2]

Last: calcinating

The final step is smelting. Each powder in the list above has a calcinated version made by smelting it. The results are Calcinated Coal Powder, Calcinated Redstone Powder, Calcinated Quartz Powder, Calcinated Lapis Lazuli Powder, Calcinated Gold Powder, Calcinated Diamond Powder, Calcinated Emerald Powder and Calcinated Netherite Powder.[2]

Smelting

Recipe id: potionsmaster:calcinateddiamond_powder

The other calcinated powders follow the same smelting pattern.

Tip: Make Ender Powder early and keep a stack of it. Most powders in the chain consume it, so it is the item you'll keep running short of.[2]
