What is Utilitarian?
Same as in the All the Mods 10 6.5 guide
Utilitarian is included in this pack as version 1.21.1-0.18.2, so you can use it in your world. It's been part of the pack for a while: it was first added in pack version 2.25 or earlier.[1]
Unverified The available sources don't confirm what this mod adds, who it's aimed at, or where it fits in the pack's progression. Check the mod's items in JEI/EMI in-game to see what it offers. This site does hold All the Mods 11's own recipes, read from the pack itself: look the item up in the item browser.
How do you get started with Utilitarian?
5 parts
Utilitarian is a mod of small helper blocks and gadgets, and the items covered here are all crafted in a crafting grid. The order below is my suggestion, based on what each item does.[2][3]
Start with the Trowel
Make the Trowel first. Shift right click with it to change its pull setting.[3]
Crafting Shaped
| any wooden rod | Empty slot | Empty slot |
| Empty slot | any iron ingot | any iron ingot |
Recipe id: utilitarian:trowel
Then the Redstone Clock
Next, make a Redstone Clock. Right click the placed block with an empty hand to change its pulse frequency, and sneak while doing it to increase the frequency faster. This pack adds its own recipe for the clock through KubeJS, so craft it the way shown below.[2][3]
Shaped (kubejs)
| Empty slot | Redstone | Empty slot |
| Redstone | Chiseled Stone Bricks | Redstone |
| Empty slot | Redstone | Empty slot |
Recipe id: kubejs:kjs/utilitarian_redstone_clock
This recipe is added by the pack, it is not the mod's own.
Handy utility blocks
After that, pick the blocks that fit what you are building. The Tps Meter outputs a redstone signal based on the dimension's TPS, so you can wire it straight into redstone. The Sound Muffler mutes sounds within a block radius, and its tooltip shows the exact radius in game.[2][3]
Crafting Shaped
| Empty slot | Comparator | Empty slot |
| Comparator | any obsidian | Comparator |
| Empty slot | Comparator | Empty slot |
Recipe id: utilitarian:tps_meter
Dealing with traders and raiders
A soliciting carpet makes arriving traders end up on that block instead of in your face. The trapped versions are a darker option, because their tooltip says they will kill the trader. Here is the white carpet as an example.[2][3]
Crafting Shapeless
- White Carpet
- any small flower
Recipe id: utilitarian:no_soliciting/soliciting_carpets/white_soliciting_carpet
The No Raider Block is placed in an outpost to stop raiders from returning.[2][3]
Crafting Shaped

Recipe id: utilitarian:no_soliciting/no_raider_block
A little dirt
The Drit block is worth knowing about. Its tooltip warns that it hurts, and says grass can grow on it.[2][3]
Crafting Shaped
| Dirt | Dirt | Dirt |
| Dirt | Bone | Dirt |
| Dirt | Dirt | Dirt |
Recipe id: utilitarian:snad/drit
Unverified The sources here do not show a quest chapter or guidebook entry that places Utilitarian in the pack's progression, so the order above is a suggestion rather than something the pack enforces.
How does Utilitarian work?
6 parts
Utilitarian is a utility mod, so don't expect power, fluid pipes or multiblock machines here. The sources for this pack only describe a handful of single-block and item behaviours, and that is all this section covers.[3]
Redstone helpers
- The redstone clock changes its pulse frequency when you right click the block with an empty hand. Sneak while doing it to increase the frequency faster.[3]
- The TPS meter outputs a redstone signal based on the TPS of the dimension it is in. The sources don't say how the signal strength maps to TPS values.[3]
- The trowel has a pull setting, which you change with shift right click. The sources don't explain what the setting does.[3]
Lamps
The Lapis Lamp lights up an area on the client side only. The area is still dark, you just can't see it.[2][3]
Crafting Shaped
| Empty slot | any lapi gems | Empty slot |
| any lapi gems | Redstone Lamp | any lapi gems |
| Empty slot | any lapi gems | Empty slot |
Recipe id: utilitarian:lapis_lamp
The pack also has recipes for the Inverted Lapis Lamp and the Inverted Redstone Lamp. The sources don't describe how they behave in the world.[2]
Dealing with traders and raiders
Soliciting carpets are made in many colours. Arriving traders end up on the carpet instead of in your face. Trapped variants such as the Black Trapped Soliciting Carpet kill the trader, so only use those if you really mean it.[2][3]
The No Raider Block is meant to be placed in an outpost to stop raiders from returning.[2][3]
Crafting Shaped
| Empty slot | Crossbow | Empty slot |
| White Wool | Empty slot | White Wool |
| Empty slot | White Wool | Empty slot |

Other items with a described effect
- The sound muffler mutes sounds within a set block radius. The radius value isn't given in the sources.[3]
- The wind charge replenishes your breath under water.[3]
- The slime bucket gets visibly excited when you visit a slime chunk.[3]
Config in this pack
The mod's common config only covers startup and logging behaviour, not machine balance. In this pack, enableDingDongStartupSound is true and dingDongSound is set to entity.experience_orb.pickup, which is also the mod's stated default. disableRecipeAdvancements is true.[4]
The pack turns on logSuppressorEnabled and sets logSuppressorStartsWithMessages to hide log lines starting with "Could not equip item ". The contains, ends-with and regex lists are all empty.[4]
noStartupMessagesEnabled is also true. noStartupMessagesMessages hides messages containing "[Warning] Ender IO", "Hello, thank you", "Thank you", "Backup" or "JourneyMap".[4]
Fluid Hopper
The pack has a crafting recipe for the Fluid Hopper.[2]
Crafting Shaped
| any iron ingot | any white dye | any iron ingot |
| any iron ingot | Bucket | any iron ingot |
| Empty slot | any iron ingot | Empty slot |

How do you progress through Utilitarian?
2 parts
Utilitarian doesn't work like a tiered mod in this pack. The recipe dump shows it as a set of individual crafting recipes, each either shaped or shapeless, so you can make any of them as soon as you have the materials. You can pick them up in whatever order suits your base.[2]
What you can craft
- Utility blocks and tools: Angel Block, Fluid Hopper, Well Behaved Dropper, Sound Muffler, Tps Meter, Trowel and Unname Tag.[2]
- Lighting and redstone: Lapis Lamp, Inverted Lapis Lamp, Inverted Redstone Lamp and the Redstone Clock.[2]
- The Snad family: Snad, Red Snad, Soul Snad and Drit, each with its own recipe.[2]
- Tiny fuels: Tiny Coal and Tiny Charcoal.[2]
- The No Soliciting set: No Soliciting Banner, No Raider Block and Restraining Order, plus Soliciting Carpets and Trapped Soliciting Carpets in many dye colors, such as White Soliciting Carpet and White Trapped Soliciting Carpet.[2]
The one change the pack made
The pack adds its own custom recipe for the Redstone Clock. The mod's own Redstone Clock recipe is also in the recipe dump, so the pack's version is the one to check when you plan your build.[2]

Which Utilitarian config options matter?
4 parts
Utilitarian is mostly a quality-of-life mod, and its config lives in one file, config/utilitarian-common.toml. The options are about startup noise, log clutter and recipe advancements, not gameplay. Here is how this pack sets them.[4]
Startup ding sound
- enableDingDongStartupSound is set to true, so the pack plays a ding when the game finishes starting up.[4]
- dingDongSound is set to entity.experience_orb.pickup, which is the default sound named in the config comment. The pack did not change it. You can put another sound name there if you want a different ding.[4]
Recipe advancements
disableRecipeAdvancements is set to true in this pack. Recipe advancements are turned off, so you won't get the usual recipe-unlock advancement pop-ups.[4]
Log suppressor
logSuppressorEnabled is true. This module stops log messages that match your filters, which keeps the game log readable in a big pack. Only one filter is filled in.[4]
- logSuppressorStartsWithMessages holds "Could not equip item ". Any log message that starts with that text is stopped.[4]
- logSuppressorContainsMessages, logSuppressorEndsWithMessages and logSuppressorRegexMessages are all empty lists.[4]
No startup messages
noStartupMessagesEnabled is true. This module blocks any message containing one of the listed word sequences. This pack lists "[Warning] Ender IO", "Hello, thank you", "Thank you", "Backup" and "JourneyMap" in noStartupMessagesMessages. That cuts down the chat spam from other mods when you load in.[4]
Unverified The source only shows the values this pack uses. Apart from the ding sound, it doesn't say which of them differ from the mod's defaults, so treat none of them as confirmed pack changes.
