What is Sophisticated Core?

Same as in the All the Mods 10 2.12 guide

Sophisticated Core is included in this pack at version 1.0.5, shipped as the Minecraft 1.21.1 build sophisticatedcore-1.21.1-1.0.5.813.jar. It has been in the pack since version 0.32 or earlier, so it's a long-standing part of the mod list rather than a recent addition.[1]

Unverified The sources I have don't describe what Sophisticated Core does in gameplay, who it is aimed at, or where it fits in the pack's progression. They also don't show it on the ATM Star path or tied to any quests, so I'm not making claims about those. Check back once more detail is available.

How do you get started with Sophisticated Core?

3 parts

Sophisticated Core is the shared library behind the Sophisticated backpack and storage screens, so there is nothing to craft from it directly. What you'll notice first is the inventory screen: the sort, transfer, search and settings buttons all come from this mod's own text.[2]

What to try first in the screen

  1. Use the Sort Inventory button, and pick how it sorts: By Count, By Mod, By Name or By Tags.[2]
  2. Try the transfer buttons: Transfer to Inventory, Transfer to Storage, and the Transfer Matching versions of both. On the matching versions, the tooltip says Shift transfers all.[2]
  3. Open the settings and look at Keep Search Phrase and Keep Tab Open. With Keep Search Phrase on, the screen prefills and filters by your last search when you reopen it. With Keep Tab Open on, it reopens the upgrade tab you left open.[2]
  4. Once you have a setup you like, save the settings to a slot and load them again later. You can also export them, which creates a data pack with an snbt file.[2]

Upgrade slot rules

If an upgrade won't go into a slot, the screen tells you why. For example, only one Battery Upgrade can be in a container, there can be at most two Tank Upgrades, and some upgrades need the last inventory slots to be empty. Removing an upgrade can also be blocked when a slot or upgrade needs a higher stack limit, and only admins can remove the Infinity Upgrade.[2]

What this pack changes

The pack's enabledItems list decides which Sophisticated items are enabled, and disabling an item also disables its recipes. In this pack nearly everything is set to true. The exceptions are Stack Upgrade Omega Tier and Stack Upgrade Omega Tier, which are set to false, so don't plan around them.[3]

Unverified No in-pack recipes or quests for this mod's own items were found, so there is no confirmed crafting order and no recipe blocks in this section.

How does Sophisticated Core work?

6 parts

This mod's own files mostly describe the screen you use on backpacks and storage blocks: sorting, searching, moving items, slot settings and the rules for adding upgrades. There are no machines or multiblocks here, and the sources don't explain power, fluid or automation mechanics. What they do show is below.[2]

Sorting and moving items

The screen has a Sort Inventory button, and you can sort by count, by mod, by name or by tags. There are also buttons to transfer items to your inventory or to the storage. Each has a Matching version that only moves stacks matching what is already on the other side, and the tooltip says to hold Shift to transfer all.[2]

The search box says "Click to search", and starting your search with @ lets you search by mod name. If nothing matches, you get a "No items match the search" message. There is also an expanded output list with search, opened from its own button.[2]

Slot settings

The settings tabs let you pick slots by left click or drag, and unselect them by right click or drag. There are Select All and Unselect All buttons for the slot tabs.[2]

  • Memory: slots remember their contents and only allow matching stacks in them.[2]
  • No Sort: slots you pick here are ignored by sorting.[2]
  • Item Display: you pick a slot whose item is shown on top of the storage. You can show it on the front, left or right side, rotate it, change its depth and toggle its colour.[2]

Interface behaviour options

  • Keep Search Phrase: when ON, the screen keeps your search and filters by it when you reopen it. When OFF, it clears the search on close and shows everything next time.[2]
  • Keep Tab Open: when ON, the screen remembers which upgrade tab was last open and reopens it. When OFF, all tabs are closed the next time you open it.[2]
  • Shift click: you can choose between Shift Click Into Inventory First and Shift Click Into Open Tab First. The first tries the inventory or storage and only then an open tab. The second does the opposite.[2]

The Player context button gives player-level settings. These apply to all backpacks and storages unless a particular one overrides them.[2]

Saving and sharing settings

You can save your settings to a slot and load them back later, and you scroll to change the slot. Slots can have custom names, which can't be empty. You can also export settings, which creates a data pack with an snbt file. File names can't be empty or contain invalid characters. If a saved setup is too big, you get a "Settings don't fit in this storage" message.[2]

Upgrade rules

The error messages show what the game enforces when you add or remove upgrades. Some upgrades limit how many copies can be used, such as only a single one, or a set number in a given backpack or storage. Some can't be used in certain containers at all.[2]

  • Only one Battery Upgrade can be in the upgrade slots. It also needs the backpack to support its energy. If it doesn't, you need to upgrade the backpack or add a stack multiplier.[2]
  • Tank Upgrades are capped at two in the upgrade slots. As with batteries, the backpack needs enough capacity, or you need a stack multiplier.[2]
  • Some upgrades need the last few inventory slots to be empty, and you get an error if an item is sitting in one of them.[2]
  • Some upgrades need all upgrade slots to be empty before they can be added.[2]
  • Removing an upgrade can be blocked. A banned item may need to be removed first, or a slot or upgrade may need a higher stack limit than the remaining multiplier gives. Only admins can remove the Infinity Upgrade.[2]

Pack config

The pack's enabledItems option is a list of items from the Sophisticated mods, each marked true or false. The file's comment says it disables or enables items, and that disabling an item disables its recipes.[3]

In this pack, every entry is true except the omega stack upgrades. Stack Upgrade Omega Tier and Stack Upgrade Omega Tier are set to false.[3]

Which Sophisticated Core config options matter?

1 part

Same as in the All the Mods 11 0.8.0-beta guide

Sophisticated Core is the shared library behind the Sophisticated mods, and the pack's common config for it is short. The one option you'll care about is enabledItems. It's a list of item ids, each with a true or false flag, and the file's own comment says it lets you disable or enable items, which disables their recipes.[4]

What the pack turns off

The list covers items from Sophisticated Storage, Sophisticated Backpacks and the storage boat and minecart. In this pack, nearly everything is set to true. The exceptions are the two Omega tier stack upgrades, which are set to false.[4]

Because the config disables an item's recipes when it's set to false, don't plan a build around either Omega upgrade. The tiers that are enabled run from the starter tier and tier 1 up to tier 4 for backpacks, and up to tier 5 for storage.[4]

Unverified The sources don't show the mod's default for the Omega upgrades, so it's unconfirmed whether the pack changed them from the default or just kept it.

Tip: Before you hunt for an item in a Sophisticated mod, check its flag in the enabledItems list. If it says false, the item is switched off in this pack.[4]
