What is Pylons?
2 parts
Pylons is described by its authors as "just another magic block mod". The project page currently lists a small set of blocks it adds, and this pack includes version 6.0.1 of the mod.[1][2]
The pylons listed on the project page
- Expulsion Pylon: made for servers, it expels other players from the chunk it's placed in. You can whitelist players with a Player Filter, and OPs are always whitelisted.[1]
- Infusion Pylon: lets you apply effects to yourself from any distance (this may require chunkloading), using activated Potion Filters.[1]
- Harvester Pylon: the project page currently lists it as harvesting crops in a configurable radius from 3x3 to 9x9 around the pylon and outputting to an inventory above it. You place it inside the water block of the farm.[1]
- Interdiction Pylon: the project page currently lists it as preventing all spawns of specified mobs within a selectable chunk range from 1x1 to 5x5. Right click a mob with a Mob Filter, then add that filter to the pylon to block that mob.[1]
Good to know
The project page currently describes how to activate a Potion Filter for the Infusion Pylon: apply an effect to yourself (from a potion, for example) and right-click the filter. This extracts all remaining duration from you onto the filter. The mod's default minimum extractable duration is 60 seconds, and a full activation needs a total of 1 hour of duration.[1]
The project page currently says the Harvester Pylon needs a hoe in its inventory by default and uses 1 durability per crop harvested. The mod has a config option to turn that off, and unbreakable hoes can be used. These details come from the mod's own description, so check the pack's config if you want the exact values in use.[1]
How do you get started with Pylons?
5 parts
Same as in the All the Mods 11 0.8.0-beta guide
Most pylons work the same way: you craft one, place it, and add filters that tell it what to target. There is no fixed order to follow, so this is a suggested one built from what each pylon does.[3]
Harvester Pylon: automatic crops first
Start with the Harvester Pylon. It harvests crops in a range from 3x3 to 9x9 blocks around itself and outputs to an inventory above it. Place it inside the water block of your farm, or level with the crops.[3]

By default (it's configurable) the pylon needs a hoe inside it and uses 1 durability per harvest, unless the hoe is unbreakable. Unbreaking and other durability enchants are supported. It can also be configured to require power instead.[3]
Mob Filter and Interdiction Pylon: control spawns
Next, make a Mob Filter. Right-click a mob with it to select that mob. Then add the filter to an Interdiction Pylon to stop that mob spawning within 1x1 to 5x5 chunks, natural and forced spawns both.[3]

If you would rather block everything, the Lifeless Filter blocks all mobs instead. It only stops natural spawns, but its range grows to 25x25 chunks, and it disables other mob filters.[3][4]

Protection Pylon: stop your own accidents
The Protection Pylon prevents you, the owner, from breaking blocks or killing mobs inside a 1x1 to 5x5 chunk range. Add Mob Filters and Block Filters to choose which mobs and blocks are protected.[3]

Infusion Pylon: potion effects from anywhere
The Infusion Pylon applies effects to you from any distance, using activated Potion Filters. To activate one, get the effect on yourself, then right-click with the filter in hand to extract it.[3]
By default (configurable) the minimum duration you can extract is 60 seconds, and a filter needs 1 hour of duration to activate. That is the equivalent of 7.5 vanilla extended potions. Also by default, the pylon loads its chunk while the owner is online.[1][3]

Expulsion Pylon: keep other players out
The Expulsion Pylon expels other players from a 1x1 to 5x5 chunk range. Whitelist friends with a Player Filter. OPs are automatically whitelisted, and so are team members if team support is enabled.[3]

How does Pylons work?
7 parts
Pylons adds five pylon blocks, and each one does a single job. Three of them work on a range of chunks, the Harvester works on a range of blocks, and the Infusion Pylon works on you. Here is how each one behaves in this pack.[3]
What every pylon shares
- Every pylon has an owner, and its screen shows who that is. If the owner cannot be found, the pylon disables itself.[3]
- All five pylons can be toggled automatically with redstone, and the screen has a working status toggle.[3]
- Filters are items you put into a pylon: Player Filter, Mob Filter, Block Filter, Potion Filter and Lifeless Filter. Which filters a pylon takes depends on the pylon.[3]
Expulsion Pylon
The Expulsion Pylon expels other players from the chunk range you select, from 1x1 up to 5x5 chunks. Add players to its whitelist with a Player Filter: right-click a player with the filter to select them. OPs are whitelisted automatically, and so are team members when team support is enabled.[3]
Crafting Shaped
| Quartz Slab | Quartz Slab | Quartz Slab |
| Iron Bars | Diamond Block | Iron Bars |
| Polished Blackstone | Polished Blackstone | Polished Blackstone |
Recipe id: pylons:expulsion_pylon
These are the values this pack uses:[5]
- expulsion_pylon.expulsionPylonMaxRadius is 2. The center chunk is not counted, so a radius of 2 gives the 5x5 maximum.[5]
- expulsion_pylon.expulsionAllowedDimensions lists only the Overworld. In a disabled dimension the screen tells you the dimension is disabled.[3][5]
- general.teamSupportEnabled is on. It only does something if a compatible team mod (FTB Teams or Argonauts) is installed.[5]
- expulsion_pylon.expulsionPylonCanExplode is false, so explosions cannot destroy the pylon.[5]
- The pylon will not operate near world spawn (the screen says "Too close to world spawn."). expulsion_pylon.expulsionWorldSpawnRadius is 1, and it only takes effect if it is larger than the world spawn radius from the spawnRadius gamerule.[3][5]
Harvester Pylon
The Harvester Pylon harvests crops in a square from 3x3 to 9x9 blocks around itself and outputs them to an inventory placed above it. Put the pylon inside the water block of your farm, or level with the crops. If something is wrong, the screen tells you: "Place inventory above pylon.", "Inventory is full." or "Hoe required for operation."[3]
Crafting Shaped

| Iron Bars | Hay Block | Iron Bars |
| Polished Blackstone | Polished Blackstone | Polished Blackstone |
Recipe id: pylons:harvester_pylon
- harvester_pylon.harvesterRequiresTool is true, so the pylon needs a hoe inside it. Each harvest uses 1 durability, unless the hoe is unbreakable. Unbreaking and other durability enchants are supported.[3][5]
- harvester_pylon.harvesterRequiresPower is false. If you turn it on, the hoe requirement is disabled and each harvested block costs RF instead.[5]
- With power on, harvester_pylon.harvesterPowerCost is 5 RF per block and harvester_pylon.harvesterPowerBuffer is 1,000. The buffer should be greater than the cost per block times 80.[5]
- harvester_pylon.harvesterWorkDelay is 60 ticks between harvest attempts.[5]
- harvester_pylon.harvesterCanBeAutomated is false, so you cannot pipe tools in to automate it. The config notes that unbreakable tools are required for full automation by default.[5]
Infusion Pylon
The Infusion Pylon applies potion effects to you from any distance, using Potion Filters that you have activated. By default it chunkloads the chunk it sits in while its owner is online. In this pack that stays on, and it is limited to one pylon per player.[3][5]

Activating a Potion Filter
- Get the effect on yourself first, from a potion for example.[3]
- Right-click with the Potion Filter in hand to extract the effect. The effect needs at least the minimum duration, which is 60 seconds here.[3][5]
- Repeat with the same effect active to add progress. The tooltip shows progress in seconds.[3]
- The filter activates at 3,600 seconds (1 hour) of stored duration, which equals 7.5 vanilla extended potions.[5]
- Duplicate Potion Filters can be combined: hold one in each hand and right-click.[3]
The limits in this pack:[5]
- infusion_pylon.infusionRequiredDuration is 3,600 seconds and infusion_pylon.infusionMinimumDuration is 60 seconds. The minimum exists to avoid odd interactions with other mods' persistent low-duration effects.[5]
- infusion_pylon.infusionAppliedDuration is 20 seconds. That is the maximum duration applied to you, refreshed up to that amount every 60 ticks.[5]
- infusion_pylon.infusionMaximumPotency is 3. The value is 0-indexed, so Resistance V would be potency 4.[5]
- infusion_pylon.infusionAllowedEffects allows the whole minecraft namespace, and infusion_pylon.infusionDeniedEffects blocks minecraft:absorption and tombstone:ghostly_shape. The denied list overrides the allowed list, and effects can also be banned with the pylons:infusion_banned tag.[5]
- A filter for a blocked effect shows a tooltip saying the effect is disabled by tag or in the config.[3]
- infusion_pylon.infusionChunkloads is true.[5]
Interdiction Pylon
The Interdiction Pylon prevents natural and forced spawns of the mobs you specify within a chunk range from 1x1 to 5x5. Add Mob Filter items to specify which mobs to block: right-click a mob with the filter to select it, then insert the filter into the pylon.[3]

The Lifeless Filter works differently. It blocks all mobs, but only natural spawns, and it raises the range to 25x25 chunks. It also disables the other mob filters.[3]
Protection Pylon
The Protection Pylon stops its owner from breaking blocks or killing mobs within a chunk range from 1x1 to 5x5. You choose what is protected with Mob Filter and Block Filter items. Right-click a block with the Block Filter to select it.[3]

Here is what the pack's data shows for Pylons. The pylon blocks are the Expulsion Pylon, Harvester Pylon, Infusion Pylon, Interdiction Pylon and Protection Pylon. The filter items are the Block Filter, Lifeless Filter, Mob Filter, Player Filter and Potion Filter. Every one of them has an in-pack crafting recipe, shown below.[7]

When you break a pylon, its block loot table drops the pylon item itself, so you can pick one up and move it. The loot table also carries a survives-explosion condition.[8][9][10][11][12]

Harvester Pylon and Silent Gear
The mod's harvester_banned item tag has a single optional entry: the hoe from Silent Gear. If you plan to use the Harvester Pylon alongside Silent Gear tools, keep that entry in mind.[6]
Which Pylons config options matter?
4 parts
Same as in the All the Mods 11 0.8.0-beta guide
All the Pylons settings live in one file, config/pylons-server.toml. Every numeric option in it that lists a mod default is set to that default, so this pack didn't change any of those numbers. What follows is how the pack sets the options you're most likely to care about.[13]
Harvester Pylon
- harvester_pylon.harvesterRequiresTool is true, so the harvester needs a hoe and uses 1 durability per harvest action.[1][13]
- harvester_pylon.harvesterCanBeAutomated is false, so you can't pipe tools in to automate it. The option's description says that by default, unbreakable tools are required for full automation.[13]
- harvester_pylon.harvesterWorkDelay is 60 ticks between harvest attempts. That matches the mod default, and the allowed range is 10 to 120.[13]
- harvester_pylon.harvesterRequiresPower is false. If you turned it on, it would drop the tool requirement and charge RF per block instead.[13]
- If power were enabled, harvester_pylon.harvesterPowerCost is 5 RF per block and harvester_pylon.harvesterPowerBuffer is 1,000. Both are mod defaults, and the buffer should be greater than the cost per block times 80.[13]
Infusion Pylon
- infusion_pylon.infusionRequiredDuration is 3,600 seconds, so a Potion Filter needs 1 hour of total duration before you can use it. That's the mod default, and it equals 7.5 vanilla extended potions.[1][13]
- infusion_pylon.infusionMinimumDuration is 60 seconds, the shortest effect duration a Potion Filter can use. It's the mod default, and it exists to avoid odd interactions with other mods' persistent low-duration effects.[13]
- infusion_pylon.infusionMaximumPotency is 3. The value is 0-indexed, so Resistance V would be potency 4 and 3 is the highest you can apply here.[13]
- infusion_pylon.infusionAppliedDuration is 20 seconds. The duration is refreshed up to that amount every 60 ticks.[13]
- infusion_pylon.infusionChunkloads is true, so the pylon chunkloads itself. This is limited to one pylon per player, and only while that player is online.[13]
- infusion_pylon.infusionAllowedEffects is set to the whole minecraft namespace. infusion_pylon.infusionDeniedEffects blocks minecraft:absorption and tombstone:ghostly_shape, and the denied list overrides the allowed one.[13]
Expulsion Pylon
- expulsion_pylon.expulsionAllowedDimensions only lists minecraft:overworld, so the Expulsion Pylon only operates in the Overworld.[13]
- expulsion_pylon.expulsionPylonMaxRadius is 2, the mod default and the top of its range. It doesn't count the center chunk, so a radius of 2 means a 5x5 chunk area.[13]
- expulsion_pylon.expulsionPylonCanExplode is false, so explosions can't destroy the pylon.[13]
- expulsion_pylon.expulsionWorldSpawnRadius is 1, the mod default. It only takes effect if it's larger than the world's spawn radius.[13]
Teams
general.teamSupportEnabled is true, so team support is active when a compatible mod such as FTB Teams or Argonauts is installed.[13]
What changed in Pylons between versions?
All the Mods 11 0.10.0-beta ships Pylons 6.0.1. The mod has been in the pack since All the Mods 11 0.0.5 or earlier.[2]
- 6.0.0: the initial port to NeoForge 26.1.[14]
- 6.0.1: an update for compatibility with NeoForge 26.1.2.22-beta. This is the version in the pack right now.[2][15]
Both changelogs are about NeoForge compatibility, so they do not describe any gameplay, recipe or config changes.[14][15]
