What is FTB Quests?
Same as in the All the Mods 10 7.2 guide
FTB Quests is included in this pack as version 2101.1.27, using the NeoForge build of the mod. It has been part of the pack since pack version 2.25 or earlier, so it's been around for most of the pack's life.[1]
Unverified The available sources don't describe what FTB Quests does, who it's aimed at, or how it fits into this pack's progression, so those details are left out until they can be confirmed.
How do you get started with FTB Quests?
4 parts
FTB Quests is the mod behind the quest book in this pack, and it adds a handful of craftable items. Here they are in the order I'd make them, each with the exact in-pack recipe.[2]
Craft the Quest Book first
Start with the Quest Book. In this pack it's a shapeless crafting recipe, so the ingredients can go anywhere in the grid.[2]
Then the Task Screens
Next are the Task Screens. The pack has four sizes: Task Screen (1x1), Task Screen (3x3), Task Screen (5x5) and Task Screen (7x7). Each one is a shaped recipe.[2]

The Task Screen Configurator is also craftable, with a shaped recipe.[2]

Unverified How the Task Screens and the Configurator are set up in play is not covered by the material available for this guide, so check it in-game.
Loot Crate Opener
The last craftable item is the Loot Crate Opener, also a shaped recipe. You don't need it right away, but it's good to know it exists.[2]

How quests progress
The mod's own tooltips describe two progression modes. With Linear, a quest must be complete before the quests that depend on it are started. With Flexible, you can progress tasks in dependent quests at any time, but those quests can't be completed until their dependency is done.[3]
Completion isn't always instant either. The mod checks a player's inventory at a minimum interval, measured in ticks, when it changes. Higher values are kinder on server TPS but mean longer delays before you see auto-completion messages.[3]
How does FTB Quests work?
7 parts
FTB Quests is a questing mod, and the machine-like parts it shows here are the Task Screens and the quest chests. This section covers how those handle items, plus the rules that decide how quests unlock and complete. Nothing about power or fluid handling appears for this mod.[2][3]
Task Screens and item input
Task Screens come in several sizes in this pack: Task Screen (1x1), Task Screen (3x3), Task Screen (5x5) and Task Screen (7x7). You can also craft a Task Screen Configurator.[2]

Item tasks can be set so that items may only be submitted by piping into a Task Screen. That option only applies when Consume Items is true for the task. If you want a fully automated turn-in, this is the setting to look for in the task editor.[3]
Quest chests
The mod also has a chest block with two descriptions. The input side says to place items there to complete quests, and the output side says rewards will appear there. How these chests are crafted or configured isn't covered here, so check in game before building around them.[3]
How item tasks match items
An item task can compare item component data in three modes. None ignores component data. Fuzzy only checks the data components present on the filter stack. Strict requires the filter stack's components to match the checked item exactly.[3]
Detection and performance
Quests check a player's inventory when it changes, and there is a minimum interval in ticks between those checks. Higher values are kinder on server TPS, especially if players' inventories change often. The trade-off is a longer delay before quest auto-completion messages appear.[3]
Progression and dependencies
The file-level progression mode has two options. In Linear, a quest must be complete before its dependent quests are started. In Flexible, you can progress tasks in dependent quests at any time, but those quests can't be completed until their dependency is.[3]
- Sequential tasks: when true, tasks must be completed in the strict order they were added to the quest. A quest can follow its chapter's setting or override it.[3]
- OR quests: setting Min Required Dependencies above 0 turns a quest into an OR quest, which unlocks once only that many of its dependencies are done.[3]
- Exclusive branches: if Max Completable Dependents is above 0, only that many dependents can be completed. The rest become unavailable, which is useful for exclusive branches in a questline.[3]
- Tasks ignoring dependencies: a quest can allow its tasks to start without completing its dependencies.[3]
Rewards
A team reward is one reward for the whole team, and only the submitting player receives it. When it is false, all online players receive the reward. Rewards can also be left out of the Claim All button, but that setting can't be changed for Loot, Random and Choice reward types.[3]
Repeatable quests have a cooldown in seconds. It runs between claiming all of a quest's rewards and being able to redo its tasks.[3]

How do you progress through FTB Quests?
2 parts
Same as in the All the Mods 11 0.8.0-beta guide
The recipe data for this pack doesn't show a tier ladder for FTB Quests. What it does show is the set of items you can craft from the mod: the Quest Book, the Loot Crate Opener, the Task Screen Configurator and the Task Screens.[4]
Task Screen sizes
Task Screens come in several sizes, and each one has its own crafting recipe: the Task Screen (1x1), Task Screen (3x3), Task Screen (5x5) and Task Screen (7x7). The recipes below are the exact in-pack versions.[4]
