What is FTB Quests?
Same as in the All the Mods 10 7.2 guide
FTB Quests is included in this pack as version 2101.1.27, using the NeoForge build of the mod. It has been part of the pack since pack version 2.25 or earlier, so it's been around for most of the pack's life.[1]
Unverified The available sources don't describe what FTB Quests does, who it's aimed at, or how it fits into this pack's progression, so those details are left out until they can be confirmed.
How do you get started with FTB Quests?
3 parts
FTB Quests adds a few craftable items in this pack. Start with the Quest Book, since it's the Quest Book itself.[2]
The Quest Book is a shapeless crafting recipe, so the pieces can go anywhere in the grid.
Task screens
Next are the task screens, which come in 1x1, 3x3, 5x5 and 7x7 sizes: Task Screen (1x1), Task Screen (3x3), Task Screen (5x5) and Task Screen (7x7). Each has its own shaped recipe, shown below.[2]

There is also a Task Screen Configurator, which has its own shaped recipe.[2]

Loot crate opener
The last craftable item is the Loot Crate Opener, also made with a shaped recipe.[2]

Quest chest
The mod also has a chest block. Its in-game description says that you place items there to complete quests, and that rewards appear there.[3]
How does FTB Quests work?
4 parts
FTB Quests is a progression system rather than a machine mod. The sources describe no machines, power, fluids or multiblocks for it. What they do describe is a set of rules for how quests unlock, how tasks are checked and how rewards are handed out. Everything below explains how an option works, not what this pack sets it to.[3]
How quests unlock
The quest file has a progression mode. In Linear mode, a quest must be complete before the quests that depend on it are started. In Flexible mode, you can progress tasks in dependent quests at any time, but those quests can't be completed until their dependency is completed.[3]
Individual quests can bend the dependency rules. If a quest's minimum required dependencies is set above 0, it becomes an OR quest, and only that many of its dependencies are needed to unlock it. A quest can also cap how many of its dependents can be completed, and the remaining dependents then become unavailable. That is how exclusive branches work. A quest flagged as exclusive states that completing it makes other branches unavailable.[3]
- A quest can allow you to start its tasks without completing its dependencies.[3]
- Quest details (text and tasks) can be hidden until the quest can be started.[3]
- A quest can stay invisible until completed, which is handy for easter-egg quests. If you set a task count above 0, it becomes visible once that many tasks are done.[3]
- The lock icon shown on dependency-locked quests can be hidden.[3]
How tasks are checked
When your inventory changes, the game doesn't check it constantly. A detection delay sets the minimum interval, in ticks, between checks. Higher values are kinder on server TPS, especially when inventories change often, but they mean longer waits before you see auto-completion messages.[3]
A quest can require its tasks in strict order, meaning the order they were added to the quest. Chapters have the same option, and a quest set to default follows its chapter. Item tasks also have a component-matching mode: None ignores item component data, Fuzzy only checks the data components present in the filter stack, and Strict requires them to match the checked item exactly.[3]
The mod also has a chest block with two tooltips: one tells you to place items there to complete quests, and the other says rewards will appear there.[3]
Rewards and repeating
A team reward is one reward for the whole team, and only the submitting player receives it. If it is turned off, all online players receive the reward. Rewards can be left out of the Claim All button, except Loot, Random and Choice rewards, where that setting can't be changed. A pack author can also suppress all autoclaiming, which the tooltip says may be useful to make sure testers read quests.[3]
Repeatable quests have a cooldown in seconds. It is the delay between claiming all the rewards for the quest and being able to redo its tasks. Rewards can also be blocked for a team with the /ftbquests block_rewards command, though a quest can be set to offer its rewards anyway. An item reward can be set to skip giving you the item if you already have it, ignoring NBT.[3]
Blocks and items from the mod
The craftable items from this mod in the pack are the Quest Book, the Loot Crate Opener, the Task Screen Configurator and the task screens in several sizes: Task Screen (1x1), Task Screen (3x3), Task Screen (5x5) and Task Screen (7x7). Their recipes are shown below.[2]

How do you progress through FTB Quests?
2 parts
The recipe data for this pack doesn't show a tier ladder for FTB Quests. What it does show is the set of items you can craft from the mod: the Quest Book, the Loot Crate Opener, the Task Screen Configurator and the Task Screens.[2]
Task Screen sizes
Task Screens come in several sizes, and each one has its own crafting recipe: the Task Screen (1x1), Task Screen (3x3), Task Screen (5x5) and Task Screen (7x7). The recipes below are the exact in-pack versions.[2]
