What is Extended AE?
2 parts
Same as in the All the Mods 10 4.14 guide
Extended AE is an add-on for Applied Energistics 2 that streamlines your storage and crafting workflows. It gives you bigger, faster versions of AE2 staples along with brand new machines and tools. This pack runs version 1.21-2.2.23 for NeoForge, and the mod has been included since pack version 2.2 or earlier.[1][2]
What you get
- A 36-slot Pattern Provider and Interface, so one block can craft or export huge recipe sets.[1]
- Import and Export Buses that run x8 faster, plus Tag, Mod and Precise Export Buses that filter by item tag, by mod ID or export exactly per slot.[1]
- The Extended Pattern Access Terminal in wired and wireless versions, and a Pattern Modifier to batch-edit and clone your crafting patterns.[1]
- Infinity Cells that give you endless water or cobblestone.[1]
- The Extended Molecular Assembler with x8 parallel crafting, and the Assembler Matrix, a multiblock built around the Assembler Matrix Frame. Its edges are between 3 and 7 blocks long, each pattern core adds 36 pattern slots and each craft core runs 8 crafting jobs at once, all while saving you channels.[1][3]
- Support machines like the Circuit Slicer, which slices material blocks straight into processor prints and is usually around 9x faster than an Inscriber, and the ME Canner, which fills containers with fluids and can fill other things when the matching addons are installed.[4][5]
- The ME Wireless Connector, a long-range bridge for your network.[1]
Where it fits
Extended AE builds on top of Applied Energistics 2, so it's something you grow into once your AE2 network is up and running. Most of its extended devices are too complex for a crafting table, which means you'll want a Crystal Assembler early on.[1][6]
The key resource is the Entro Crystal, the main crafting ingredient for most Extended AE items and machines. You get it by harvesting Entro Clusters from Budding Entroized Fluix. It grows a lot like certus quartz, but the budding block always degrades in the end, so plan for a steady supply.[7][8]
Unverified The mod page says Extended AE doesn't support JEI since 1.21 without FTB JEI Extra. Whether this pack includes that mod is unverified. This site does hold All the Mods 11's own recipes, read from the pack itself: look the item up in the item browser.
How do you get started with Extended AE?
5 parts
Extended AE is an add-on for Applied Energistics 2, so you'll want a basic ME network running first. Everything in this mod starts with one material: Entro Crystal. It's the main crafting ingredient for most of the mod's items and machines, so here's how to get it and what to build with it, in order.[1][9]
Step 1: Grow your Entro Crystals
Entro Crystals grow from Budding Entroized Fluix, much like Certus Quartz does. To get a budding block, craft an Entro Seed and right click a Fluix Block with it. The Fluix Block turns into Budding Entroized Fluix.[9][10][11]

The manual route gives a higher grade of budding block than the machine route. The pack also has a Crystal Assembler recipe that makes Budding Mostly Entroized Fluix, and that's the lower-grade option.[11][12]
Once the buds grow, harvest the Entro Cluster to collect crystals. If you break a bud before it's fully grown, you get Entro Shards instead.[9][13]
The pack also has a recipe for Entro Crystal that comes from a different mod's reaction recipe type. It's an extra route, so check it in your recipe viewer.[12]
Step 2: Make the Crystal Assembler
Most Extended AE devices are too complex for a crafting table. The Crystal Assembler crafts most of them, and it can also do in-world transformations like fluix transformation. The assembler itself is a normal crafting recipe in this pack.[12][14]

Step 3: Entro Ingots and the Machine Frame
Entro Crystal is too brittle to go into a machine frame directly, so it gets fused with a gold ingot to make Entro Infused Ingot. The pack has a Crystal Assembler recipe for this, plus the other-mod recipe above.[12][15]

Recipe id: extendedae:assembler/entro_ingot_transformation
With enough materials you can craft the first Extended Machine Frame. These frames are the foundation of the mod, and most block-form machines need them.[16]

Step 4: Keep your buds healthy
Budding Entroized Fluix always degrades, and eventually it turns into something else. The Crystal Fixer repairs it. In this pack it upgrades one grade at a time: hardly to half, half to mostly, and mostly to fully.[12][17][18]
Step 5: Your first real upgrades
With the assembler and frames ready, the ME Extended Pattern Provider is a good first build. It's a Pattern Provider with a larger pattern inventory, so you can keep all your patterns in one block. The ME Extended Drive is a Drive with a larger cell inventory, and it holds 20 storage cells.[12][19][20]

After that, the Circuit Slicer is worth making if the Inscriber feels slow. It slices material blocks straight into processor prints, and in most cases it's up to 9x faster than an inscriber.[12][21]

How does Extended AE work?
8 parts
Extended AE is an add-on for Applied Energistics 2. It adds bigger, faster and smarter versions of the machines and ME devices you already know. This section covers how the main systems behave, so you can plan your network before you build it.[1]
Assembler Matrix: the multiblock
The Assembler Matrix is the pack's big multiblock crafter. It can run a lot of crafting jobs at the same time, as long as your ME network has enough Molecular Assemblers' worth of patterns and ingredients to feed it. It also saves you channels.[22]
The shape is a rectangular prism with edge lengths between 3 and 7. Assembler Matrix Frame goes on the edges, Assembler Matrix Wall or Assembler Matrix Glass covers the faces, and the interior holds the pattern, craft and speed cores.[22]
The interior has to be completely filled, because a hollow matrix is not valid. It also needs at least one pattern core and at least one craft core. Once it is formed and powered, the lines on the frame turn blue, so that is your quick check that it worked.[22]
- Pattern Core: the matrix only takes patterns from its pattern cores, and each one provides 36 pattern slots.[22]
- Craft Core: the matrix hands incoming crafting jobs to its craft cores, and each one can run 8 crafting jobs at the same time.[22]
- Speed Core: 5 speed cores let the matrix run at full speed, and adding more than 5 gives no extra boost.[22]
Right-click a formed and online matrix to open its GUI. There you can put in or search patterns and see how many crafting jobs it is running.[22]

Single-block machines
- Crystal Assembler: most extended devices are too complex for a crafting table, so you craft them here. It can also do certain in-world transformation recipes, like fluix transformation. The screen face can't connect to the network.[14]
- Extended Molecular Assembler (Extended Molecular Assembler): it runs 8 crafting jobs at the same time and is 2x faster than the normal one. It only accepts jobs sent from a pattern provider, so you can't put a pattern into it directly.[23]
- Circuit Slicer (Circuit Slicer): it slices material blocks straight into processor prints and is 9x faster than the inscriber at most times. Glass faces without a port can't connect to the network.[21]
- ME Crystal Fixer (Crystal Fixer): it repairs budding certus blocks and turns them into the upgraded version. It needs power, and you right-click it to input items.[18]
- Extended Charger (Extended Charger): an advanced charger that charges 4 items at the same time.[24]
- ME Extended Drive (ME Extended Drive): a drive with a larger cell inventory that holds 20 storage cells.[20]
- ME Extended IO Port (ME Extended IO Port): works 8x faster than the normal IO Port and has more upgrade slots.[25]
ME Canner: fluids, energy and more
The ME Canner fills containers. The first slot is what to fill with, and the second slot is the container to be filled. Every operation costs 80 AE, so it needs power to run.[26]
Only the top and bottom sides accept energy and connect to the network. When you feed it ingredients from a pattern provider, it ejects the filled item automatically. The pattern must contain only the stuff to fill and the container to be filled. To drain containers instead, use Empty mode and swap the inputs and outputs in the pattern.[26]
Interfaces, providers and storage blocks
- ME Extended Pattern Provider is a pattern provider with a larger pattern inventory, so you can keep many patterns in one block instead of building subnets. The project page lists it as a 36-slot Pattern Provider.[1][19]
- ME Extended Interface is an interface with a larger config inventory.[27]
- ME Oversize Interface has the same number of slots as a normal interface, but each slot holds 16x more items by default. That is 1024 (64x16) items per slot. The multiplier is configurable, and some items from other mods can have their own multiplier.[28]
- ME Ingredient Buffer is a storage block that holds 36 types of anything, from items to fluids.[29]
- The infinity cells, Infinity Water Cell and Infinity Cobblestone Cell, hold 2.1 billion items or fluids. You can extract infinity cobblestone or water from them, or inject infinity cobblestone or water into them.[30]
- ME Void Cell (ME Void Cell) must be partitioned on a drive before you use it. It then deletes everything matching its filter, or condenses it into other forms. Right-click it to open its configuration GUI.[31]
Buses and automation
The extended import and export buses are faster than the normal ones, with a default speed multiplier of 8 that the mod lets you configure. They also have more upgrade slots.[32]
- ME Mod Export Bus and ME Mod Storage Bus filter by mod name or mod id. Separate several mod ids with commas.[33][34]
- ME Tag Export Bus and ME Tag Storage Bus filter by item or fluid tags. The storage bus supports basic logic. For example, c:raw_materials/* accepts only raw ore, and c:ingots/* | c:gems/* accepts all ingots and gems. Its GUI notes that () sets priority and * is a wildcard, and it has separate whitelist and blacklist inputs.[10][35][36]
- ME Precise Export Bus exports in the quantities you specify, and only if the target container can accept the whole amount. With 3 cobblestones per operation set, it stops when the network holds fewer than 3, or when the chest can't take all 3.[37]
- ME Precise Storage Bus is filtered with a number and only inserts items up to that limit.[38]
- ME Threshold Export Bus exports only when the stored amount of an item in the network is above or below a threshold, depending on its mode. With copper at 128 in the default ABOVE mode, it exports once the network holds more than 128 copper. In BELOW mode, it exports when the stored copper is under 128.[39]
- ME Threshold Level Emitter (ME Threshold Level Emitter) works like a Reset-Set latch with a lower and an upper threshold. With 100 and 150, it turns on once the amount goes over 150. It stays on while the amount falls, and turns off only when the amount drops below 100.[40]
- ME Smart Annihilation Plane (ME Smart Annihilation Plane) breaks blocks or absorbs items based on its config inventory. ME Active Formation Plane (ME Active Formation Plane) places blocks or drops items. Neither needs a subnet.[41][42]
Wireless links
ME Wireless Connector (ME Wireless Connector) links two networks with a limited range, and it can't cross dimensions. Connections are one-to-one. You link two connectors by clicking each with the ME Wireless Setup Kit (ME Wireless Setup Kit). Sneak and click to clear the kit's current setting. Connectors can be colored like cables and only connect to the same color.[43]
Power use grows with distance, on a curve that isn't linear, so very long links get expensive fast. Each card reduces the energy cost by 10%.[43]
ME Wireless Hub (ME Wireless Hub) works like the connector but links up to 8 hubs or connectors at once. It picks a free port automatically. When all 8 ports are taken, you have to disconnect one manually with the 'X' button.[44]
Tools that save you time
- Pattern Modifier edits patterns in bulk. It can multiply or divide a processing pattern's amounts, and division only works when the amounts divide evenly. Multiplication can't push a single ingredient above 999,999. It can also replace one ingredient with another, change substitution settings, clone patterns, or clear patterns back to blank.[45]
- Config Modifier bulk-edits config inventories, such as an interface's. Its modes are Add, Subtract, Multiply, Divide, Maximize, Minimize, Set and Clear. You click the target block or part in the world with it.[46]
- ME Packing Tape packs an in-world ME device into a package item when you sneak and right-click it. All settings and inventory are kept, which is handy when you move your setup. Right-click with the package to place the device back. It only works on devices on its list, and that list is configurable.[47]
- Upgrade items such as Pattern Provider Upgrade, Interface Upgrade, Import/Export Bus Upgrade, Pattern Access Terminal Upgrade and Drive Upgrade turn normal ME devices into their extended versions without breaking them.[48]
The Extended Pattern Access Terminal adds three things over the normal one: searching patterns by input or output ingredient names, highlighting the matched pattern in the GUI, and highlighting a pattern provider in the world. That last one helps when a big crafting job gets stuck and you need to find the culprit.[49]
Entro crystal growth
Entro Crystal is grown by Budding Entroized Fluix, much like certus quartz. To get the budding block, craft an Entro Seed and right-click a Fluix Block in the world with it. Unlike budding certus, the degradation of Budding Entroized Fluix can't be avoided.[10][17]
Unverified No config files for this mod were available for this pack. The values above, such as the x8 bus speed, the x16 Oversize Interface multiplier and the default Packing Tape device list, come from the mod's own guide, so the pack's actual values are unconfirmed.
How do you progress through Extended AE?
6 parts
This page walks through Extended AE in a suggested order, built from the in-pack recipes and the mod's own in-game guide. It is a route to follow, not a required one.[12][14]
Tier 1: The Crystal Assembler
Start with the Crystal Assembler. The in-game guide files it under the mod's foundation items. In the pack's recipe set, most of the mod's devices are made inside it, so it unlocks almost everything else.[12][14]

Tier 2: Concurrent Processors and the Circuit Slicer
The Concurrent Processor is the mod's own circuit. The guide says it is commonly used in multi-thread machines, so they can handle multiple works at the same time. The Printed Concurrent Circuit and the Inscriber Concurrent Press are part of the same line.[50]
The inscriber recipe for the Concurrent Processor.

The Circuit Slicer slices material blocks into processor prints directly. The guide says it is 9x faster than an inscriber at most times. The pack adds its own Circuit Slicer recipe in the Crystal Assembler, and its own Printed Concurrent Circuit recipe in the inscriber, on top of the mod's recipes.[12][21]

Tier 3: Upgrading your existing network
Before you build anything new, you can upgrade the AE2 devices you already have. Sneak + right-click a normal device with the matching upgrade item and it becomes its extended version. All settings and inventory are kept.[48]
- Pattern Provider Upgrade turns Pattern Providers, block or cable part, into ME Extended Pattern Provider.[48]
- Interface Upgrade turns Interfaces into ME Extended Interface.[48]
- Import/Export Bus Upgrade turns Import and Export Buses into ME Extended Import Bus and ME Extended Export Bus.[48]
- Pattern Access Terminal Upgrade turns a Pattern Access Terminal into ME Extended Pattern Access Terminal.[48]
- Drive Upgrade turns a Drive into ME Extended Drive.[48]
- Wireless Connector Upgrade turns an ME Wireless Connector into an ME Wireless Hub.[48]

Tier 4: Extended devices and the Assembler Matrix
The Crystal Assembler also makes extended devices from scratch. These include the ME Extended IO Port, Extended Molecular Assembler, Extended Charger, ME Oversize Interface, ME Active Formation Plane and ME Smart Annihilation Plane.[12]
The ME Active Formation Plane can place blocks or drop items actively. You don't need to set up a subnet for it: it works like an export bus, but places the block instead of outputting it to a chest.[42]
The Assembler Matrix Frame multiblock is the big crafting step. It is a rectangular prism with edge lengths between 3 and 7. Frames form the edges, and walls or glass form the faces. The interior is composed of pattern, craft and speed cores. It needs at least one pattern core and one craft core, and it can't be hollow.[22]
- Assembler Matrix Pattern Core: each one provides 36 pattern slots.[22]
- Assembler Matrix Craft Core: each one can run 8 crafting jobs at the same time.[22]
- Assembler Matrix Speed Core: 5 of them give full speed, and more than 5 add nothing.[22]
The frame, wall and glass are crafted in a normal crafting grid. The three cores are made in the Crystal Assembler.[12][22]

Utility machines
The ME Canner fills containers with fluids by default. It costs 80 AE per operation, and you need addons to make it fill other things such as gas, mana or energy. The Config Modifier bulk-edits config inventories, for example by maximizing or clearing them.[26][46]
Entro line
Extended AE also has an Entro material line made up of the Entro Crystal, Entro Infused Ingot and Entro Dust. This pack gives the Entro Crystal several routes, including a crafting recipe the pack adds itself, shown below.[12]

The Crystal Fixer upgrades budding blocks one step at a time: Budding Hardly Entroized Fluix, then Budding Half Entroized Fluix, then Budding Mostly Entroized Fluix, then Budding Fully Entroized Fluix. The Crystal Assembler can make Budding Mostly Entroized Fluix directly.[12]
