What is Extended AE?

2 parts

Extended AE is an add-on for Applied Energistics 2 that streamlines storage and crafting workflows. If you already run an ME network and want bigger autocrafting setups with fewer blocks and fewer channels, this is the mod for you. This pack ships version 26.1-1.0.4 for NeoForge.[1][2]

What it adds

  • A 36-slot Pattern Provider and Interface, so one block can hold or export huge recipe sets.[1]
  • The Assembler Matrix, a multiblock crafter with edge lengths between 3 and 7. Each Pattern Core gives 36 pattern slots, and each Craft Core can run eight crafting jobs at once.[3]
  • An Extended Molecular Assembler with x8 parallel crafting, plus x8 faster Import and Export Buses.[1]
  • The Circuit Slicer, which slices material blocks straight into processor prints and can be up to nine times faster than an Inscriber in most cases.[4]
  • The ME Canner, which fills fluids by default and can also empty containers. Filling other resources needs add-ons such as Applied Flux, Applied Mekanistics or Applied Botanics Addon.[1][5]
  • The ME Active Formation Plane, which can actively place blocks or drop items without a subnet.[6]
  • The Config Modifier, a tool for editing configuration inventories in bulk.[7]

The Entro system

Most Extended AE items and machines are built around Entro Crystal. You harvest it from an Entro Cluster grown on Budding Entroized Fluix.[8][9]

Most of the devices are too complex for a crafting table, so you will need a Crystal Assembler to craft them. It can also do certain in-world transformation recipes, such as Fluix transformation.[10]

Watch out: Extended AE doesn't support JEI since 1.21. Install FTB JEI Extra if you want to see its recipes in JEI.[1]

Unverified The sources I was given don't show where Extended AE sits in this pack's progression, so I can't say when you should expect to reach it.

How do you get started with Extended AE?

5 parts

Extended AE is an add-on for Applied Energistics 2 that streamlines storage and crafting. The order below takes you from your first machine to a handful of useful devices.[1]

Craft the Crystal Assembler first

Start with the Crystal Assembler. Most Extended AE devices are too complex for a crafting table, so you need this machine to make them. It can also do some in-world transformations, such as Fluix transformation.[10]

Make an Entro Seed

Entro Crystal is the main crafting ingredient for most Extended AE items and machines, so you want a steady supply. You grow it, much like Certus Quartz. Craft an Entro Seed, then right-click a Fluix Block in the world with it to turn the block into Budding Entroized Fluix.[9][12][13]

You can also inject the seed with a machine, but that gives a lower-grade budding block than the manual method. Right-clicking by hand is the better choice.[12]

Harvest and maintain your crystals

Let Entro Clusters grow on the budding block, then harvest them to get Entro Crystals. Budding Entroized Fluix always degrades eventually, and you can't prevent it. If you break a bud before it is fully grown, you get an Entro Shard instead.[8][9][14]

The Crystal Fixer repairs a degraded budding block and turns it into its upgraded form. In this pack the fixer steps Hardly to Half, Half to Mostly, and Mostly to Fully Entroized Fluix. The Crystal Assembler makes the fixer itself.[11][15]

Tip: The Entro Block is a storage block for Entro Crystals. The pack has recipes to compress crystals into it and to unpack it again, so it keeps your storage tidy.[11][16]

Make Entro Ingots and a machine frame

An Entro Crystal is too brittle to use in a machine frame, so it is fused with a gold ingot. That gives an Entro Infused Ingot, which several Extended AE items use. In this pack, one ingot recipe runs in the Crystal Assembler.[11][17]

                How does Extended AE work?

                11 parts

Extended AE builds on Applied Energistics 2 with bigger, faster versions of familiar ME devices, plus a few machines of its own. Here is how the main systems fit together once you start building.[1][21]

Getting started: frames and the Crystal Assembler

The Extended Machine Frame is the foundation of the mod, and most block-form machines in it need one. Most Extended AE devices are too complex for a crafting table, so you craft them in the Crystal Assembler. It can also do some in-world transformation recipes, such as Fluix transformation. Its screen face cannot connect to your network.[10][22]

                The Entro crystal chain

Entro Crystal is the main crafting ingredient for most Extended AE items and machines. It grows from Budding Entroized Fluix, the same way Certus Quartz grows from budding blocks. To get the budding block, craft an Entro Seed and right-click a Fluix Block in the world with it.[9][13]

You can also inject the seed with a machine instead of right-clicking, but that gives a lower-grade Budding Entroized Fluix than the manual method. Budding Entroized Fluix always degrades eventually. Unlike Certus Quartz, you cannot avoid that. If you break an Entro Bud before it is fully grown, you get an Entro Shard instead of a crystal.[8][12][14]

For storage, Entro Block is the storage block for Entro Crystals.[16]

                Assembler Matrix

The Assembler Matrix is a multiblock that combines a molecular assembler with a pattern provider. It can run many crafting jobs at once and saves network channels. You build it as a rectangular prism with edge lengths between 3 and 7. It must be completely filled, never hollow.[3]

The matrix takes patterns only from its Pattern Cores, and each one provides 36 pattern slots. Crafting jobs go to the Craft Cores, and each Craft Core runs eight jobs at the same time. Speed Cores set the speed: five give full speed, and more than five add no extra boost. When the matrix is formed and powered, the lines on its frames turn blue. Right-click it to open its GUI, where you can insert or search for patterns and see how many jobs are running.[3]

                Single-block crafters and processors

The Extended Molecular Assembler runs eight crafting jobs at the same time and is twice as fast as a standard Molecular Assembler. It only accepts jobs from a pattern provider, so you cannot insert a pattern directly. The Circuit Slicer cuts material blocks straight into processor prints and can be up to nine times faster than an Inscriber in most cases. Glass faces without ports on the Circuit Slicer cannot connect to the network.[4][19]

The Extended Charger can charge four items at once. The ME Extended IO Port works eight times faster than a standard IO Port and has more upgrade slots.[23][24]

The ME Canner and its power use

The ME Canner fills containers. The first slot holds the filling resource and the second holds the container. Every operation costs 80 AE. By default it only fills fluids. To fill other resources you need the matching add-on: Applied Flux, Applied Mekanistics or Applied Botanics Addon.[5]

Only the top and bottom sides accept energy and connect to the network. For autocrafting, the pattern must contain only the filling resource and the container to fill, and the Canner ejects the finished item automatically. To drain a container instead, switch to Empty mode and swap the pattern's inputs and outputs.[5]

                Buses, filters and level control

The ME Extended Import and Export Buses work faster than the standard ones and have more upgrade slots. The mod's default speed multiplier is 8 and can be changed in the config. The pack's config files are not available to me, so I can't confirm whether this pack changes it.[25]

                • ME Precise Export Bus: exports exact quantities, and only when the target can accept the whole amount. With 3 cobblestone set, it stops if the network holds fewer than 3 or the chest has room for only 2 more.[26]
                • ME Precise Storage Bus: a storage bus with a quantity limit, so it inserts items only up to that limit.[27]
                • ME Mod Export Bus and ME Mod Storage Bus: filter by mod name or mod ID. Separate several mod IDs with commas.[28][29]
                • ME Tag Export Bus: filters by item or fluid tags. The ME Tag Storage Bus does the same for storage and also supports basic logic. Use * as a wildcard, () for priority and | for "or". For example, c:raw_materials/* accepts only raw ore, and c:ingots/* | c:gems/* accepts all ingots and gems.[13][30][31]
                • ME Threshold Export Bus: exports only while the network's stored amount is above or below a set threshold. In an example with copper at 128, ABOVE mode exports when the network holds more than 128, and BELOW mode exports when it holds less.[32]
                • ME Threshold Level Emitter: works like a reset-set latch with a lower and an upper threshold. With 100 and 150, it turns on above 150, stays on while the amount drops, and turns off below 100.[33]

                Planes: placing and breaking blocks

The ME Active Formation Plane places blocks or drops items. The ME Smart Annihilation Plane breaks blocks or absorbs items based on its configuration inventory. Neither needs a subnet. They work like an export bus and an import bus, but with blocks in the world instead of a chest. The mod's project page says the formation plane places blocks only on redstone.[1][6][34]

                Interfaces, providers and storage

ME Extended Interface has a larger configuration inventory. ME Extended Pattern Provider has a larger pattern inventory, so one block can hold all your patterns without a subnet. The project page lists both as 36-slot devices.[1][18][35]

ME Oversize Interface has the same number of slots as the Extended Interface, but each slot holds 16 times as much by default, which is 1024 (64 x 16) items per slot. This multiplier is configurable, and specific multipliers can be set for content from other mods. I can't confirm this pack's values.[36]

The ME Extended Drive holds 20 storage cells. ME Ingredient Buffer stores up to 36 types of resources, from items to fluids. The infinity cells (Infinity Water Cell and Infinity Cobblestone Cell) each have a capacity of 2.1 billion units and let you extract or insert unlimited water or cobblestone. The ME Void Cell must be partitioned before use. It deletes everything that matches its filter or condenses it.[20][37][38][39]

                Upgrading and moving devices

Upgrade items replace normal ME devices with extended versions without breaking them. Sneak-right-click the device with the matching upgrade, such as Pattern Provider Upgrade, Interface Upgrade, Import/Export Bus Upgrade, Pattern Access Terminal Upgrade or Drive Upgrade. All settings and inventory contents are kept.[40]

ME Packing Tape works the other way when you want to move a setup. Sneak-right-click a supported ME device to pack it into a package item, keeping its settings and contents. Right-click with the package as if placing the original device to restore it. The list of supported devices is configurable.[41]

The ME Wireless Connector links two networks one-to-one. It has a limited range and cannot connect across dimensions. You link two connectors by clicking each with the ME Wireless Setup Kit. Connectors can be colored and only connect to cables and connectors of the same color. Power cost rises with distance on a non-linear curve, so very distant links get expensive. Each cooling-style power-saving card reduces the cost by 10%.[42]

For many-to-many links, use the ME Wireless Hub. It has 8 ports and picks a free one automatically when you link it. If all ports are taken, disconnect one with the X button first.[42][43]

                Bulk-editing tools

Pattern Modifier edits patterns in bulk. Multiply Mode multiplies or divides the amounts in processing patterns and can also clear patterns back to blank. Division only works when the amount divides evenly, and multiplication is capped at 999999 per ingredient. Replace Mode swaps one ingredient for another, Property Mode edits the Substitutions and Fluid Substitutions of crafting patterns, and Clone Mode copies a pattern.[44]

Config Modifier does the same for configuration inventories, such as an interface's. Its modes are Add, Subtract, Multiply, Divide, Maximize, Minimize, Set and Clear. Use it on a block or part in the world.[7]

Unverified The pack's config files for this mod were not provided, so the default values above (bus speed multiplier, Oversize Interface multiplier, Packing Tape device list) are unconfirmed for this pack. Check the in-game config if you rely on them.

How do you progress through Extended AE?

                5 parts

Unverified The quest sources here show no quest chapter for this mod, so there is no quest-guided route. The tiers below follow the in-pack recipes and the mod's in-game guide instead. This site does hold All the Mods 11's own recipes, read from the pack itself: look the item up in the item browser.

Extended AE builds on Applied Energistics 2. You mostly climb it by swapping your normal AE2 devices for bigger, more capable versions. Here is a sensible order, from the foundation up to the big multiblock.[40]

                Tier 1: Foundation

Start with the Crystal Assembler. The pack has Crystal Assembler recipes for devices such as the ME Extended Drive, ME Extended IO Port, Extended Molecular Assembler and Extended Charger. The two recipes below show the machine itself and one of those devices.[11]

An example of a device crafted in the Crystal Assembler.

Next come the circuits. The Concurrent Processor is used in multithreaded machines so they can handle several tasks at once. Its related items are the Inscriber Concurrent Press and the Printed Concurrent Circuit.[11][45]

                  Crystal Assembler (extendedae)

                    Recipe id: extendedae:assembler/concurrent_processor

The Circuit Slicer slices material blocks straight into processor prints. The guide says it can be up to nine times faster than an Inscriber in most cases. The pack adds its own Crystal Assembler recipe for the Circuit Slicer, and its own Inscriber recipe for the Printed Concurrent Circuit, next to the mod's normal ones.[4][11]

                        Tier 2: In-place upgrades

You don't have to rebuild your network. Sneak-right-click a normal device with the matching upgrade item and it becomes the extended version, keeping all its settings and inventory contents.[40]

                        Tier 3: Utility devices

Once the foundation is in place, add the specialist machines. The ME Active Formation Plane actively places blocks or drops items, and it needs no subnet. The ME Canner fills containers with fluids by default, and each operation costs 80 AE. Other resources need add-ons: Applied Flux, Applied Mekanistics or Applied Botanics Addon.[5][6]

The Config Modifier edits configuration inventories in bulk. It can maximize, minimize, set, clear, or do arithmetic on the configured amounts, which saves a lot of clicking on big interfaces.[7]

                        Tier 4: The Assembler Matrix

The Assembler Matrix is a multiblock crafting structure shaped like a rectangular prism with edge lengths between 3 and 7. Assembler Matrix Frame blocks go on its edges, Assembler Matrix Wall or Assembler Matrix Glass on its faces, and Pattern, Craft or Speed Cores fill the interior. It must contain at least one Pattern Core and one Craft Core, and it can't be hollow.[3]

Tip: When the matrix is correctly formed and powered, the lines on its frames turn blue. It must be completely filled and contain both a Pattern Core and a Craft Core.[3]

                          Entro materials

The Entro line is a side branch. The pack adds its own recipe for the Entro Crystal, shown below. The Crystal Fixer handles the budding Entroized Fluix blocks: Budding Hardly Entroized Fluix, Budding Half Entroized Fluix, Budding Mostly Entroized Fluix and Budding Fully Entroized Fluix.[11]

                          Where this guide comes from

Written from what All the Mods 11 itself ships: its files and recipes, the in-game guidebooks and the mods' own pages. Every statement links to the source it came from, and the numbers are checked against the pack before publishing.

Guide last verified Oct 17, 2026.
