What is Chisel 3?
2 parts
Chisel 3 is a building mod. It adds a large variety of static blocks, so it is most useful if you enjoy the construction side of Minecraft.[1]
This pack ships Chisel 3 version 26.1.2.19. The mod has been in the pack since version 0.0.10 or earlier.[2]
How you use it
Almost all of the new blocks come through one tool: the chisel. Right click with it and the chisel GUI opens. Put a block in the middle slot and you can turn it into other blocks of the same type.[1]
The two throwable items
- Ball O' Moss: you throw it like a snowball. On impact it mossifies nearby blocks, so Stone Brick becomes Mossy Stone Brick, and Cobblestone gets the same treatment.[1]
- Cloud in a Bottle: also thrown like a snowball. On impact it creates a large amount of clouds.[1]
The quest sources I was given do not show where the pack's quest book places this mod, so I am not describing a chapter, group or neighbouring quests here.[2]
How do you get started with Chisel 3?
4 parts
Chisel 3 is all about building. It adds a huge variety of static blocks, and you get at them mostly through one tool: the chisel. So your first job is simple: make a chisel.[1]
Step 1: craft your Chisel
Crafting Shaped

Recipe id: chisel:chisel_iron
This is the pack's crafting recipe for the Chisel.
The pack also has crafting recipes for the Diamond Chisel and the Obsidian Chisel. The sources here do not say how they differ from the basic Chisel, so start with the basic one.[3]
Step 2: use it
- Right click with the chisel in hand to open the chisel GUI.[1]
- Place a block in the middle slot, and you can turn it into other blocks of the same type.[1]
That is the whole loop. Grab a block, chisel it into a new variant, and build with it.[1]
Step 3: try the throwable items
Chisel also adds throwable items. You right click to throw them like snowballs, and they do their thing on impact.[1]
- Ball O' Moss mossifies nearby blocks, for example turning Stone Brick into Mossy Stone Brick, and the same with Cobblestone.[1]
- Cloud in a Bottle creates a large amount of clouds on impact.[1][3]
- Smashing Rock decays the blocks it hits in a splash area. The pack's recipe makes 16 at a time.[1][3]

Where to go next
The pack also has a few more building helpers: the Builders Guide, the Measuring Tape, the Ender Offset Wand and the Auto Chisel. Decorative blocks such as Factory Block, Hex Plating and the Oak Framed Glass family can be crafted directly too.[3]

If you want Limestone or Marble without hunting for them, the pack has Mystical Agriculture recipes that make 6 of each.[3]
How does Chisel 3 work?
4 parts
Chisel 3 is a building mod, so there are no machines, power or fluids to manage here. It adds a huge variety of static blocks, and almost all of them come from one tool: the chisel.[1]
The chisel and its GUI
Right click with the Chisel and the chisel GUI opens. Put a block in the middle slot and you can turn it into other blocks of the same type.[1]
Crafting Shaped
| Empty slot | any iron ingot |
| any wooden rod | Empty slot |
Recipe id: chisel:chisel_iron
The in-pack recipe for the basic chisel.
The pack also has a Diamond Chisel and an Obsidian Chisel, each with its own crafting recipe. The sources here do not say how they differ from the basic chisel.[3]
What the variants look like
Each variant has its own name and a description line. Acacia Planks, for example, has variants described as Acacia Wood Crate, Acacia Wood Braid, Smooth Acacia Wood Planks and Stacked Acacia Wood Tiles. Block of Amethyst has a long list of patterns too, such as Array, Herringbone and Crate.[4]
The Acacia Planks variants whose loot tables I can see all drop themselves when broken. So you keep the exact pattern you built with.[5][6][7][8][9][10][11][12][13]
Throwables
The mod adds two other items. You throw them with a right click, the same way as snowballs, and they do their work on impact.[1]
- Ball O' Moss mossifies the nearby blocks, for example turning Stone Brick into Mossy Stone Brick, and Cobblestone into its mossy version.[1]
- Cloud in a Bottle creates a large amount of clouds on impact.[1]

The mossy stones (Mossy Stone, Mossy Deepslate and Mossy Blackstone) are shapeless crafts. So are the colored lights, such as Black Light, which gives 8 per craft.[14]
Decorative block sets
Most of the other items are decorative blocks made in batches. Antiblock, Voidstone and Technical Block each give 8 per craft. Kitchen Block and Liminal Block give 16, while Factory Block and Tyrian give 32. The framed glass variants give 8 per craft, in both oak and steel frames.[14]

What changed in Chisel 3 between versions?
This pack ships Chisel 3 version 26.1.2.19 (the file chisel-26.1.2.19.jar). The mod has been in the pack since All the Mods 11 0.0.10 or earlier.[2]
The mod's own changelogs don't help much here. For 26.1.2.15, 26.1.2.17, 26.1.2.18 and 26.1.2.19, and for the older 3.0.9, 3.0.10, 3.0.11 and 3.0.12 releases, no changelog text was specified. So there are no notable changes I can list for those versions.[15][16][17][18][19][20][21][22]
Unverified Changes to Chisel 3 between All the Mods 11 releases would be listed in the pack's own changelog. The sources here contain no pack changelog entries for this mod, so I can't say whether any release changed it.
