What is Utility vest?
Utility vest is included in this pack as version 1.1.1, so that's the build you'll be playing with.[1]
Unverified The available sources don't describe what Utility vest adds, how it works, who it's aimed at, or where it fits in the pack's progression. This overview will be expanded once that can be confirmed.
How do you get started with Utility vest?
2 parts
Getting started with the Utility Vest is really simple, because everything revolves around one item line: the vest itself. Your very first craft is the Leather Utility Vest. It uses a normal shaped crafting recipe, so you can make it right at your crafting table.[2]

Your starting vest
Learn the controls first
Once you have your vest, hover over it and read the tooltip. It lists the key bindings for everything the vest can do.[3]
- Press the key shown in the tooltip to open the vest's inventory menu.[3]
- Hold Sneak and press the key shown in the tooltip to open the filter menu.[3]
- Press the restock key to insert items that match your filters into the vest's inventory.[3]
- Set filters with a key plus a number key, then load them again later with a key plus a number key, so you can switch between setups.[3]
Upgrading your vest
You don't craft the higher tiers from scratch. Each one comes from an upgrade recipe that takes the vest from the tier below. So never throw away an old vest, because it becomes the base for the next one. Here is the order to follow.[2]
- Upgrade your leather vest into the Iron Utility Vest.[2]
- Upgrade the iron vest into the Gold Utility Vest.[2]
- Upgrade the gold vest into the Diamond Utility Vest.[2]
- Finally, upgrade the diamond vest into the Netherite Utility Vest.[2]

How does Utility vest work?
4 parts
This mod doesn't have machines, multiblocks, power or fluids. It's built around one wearable item, the utility vest, and a filter system that controls which items go into it. Everything below comes from the vest's in-game tooltips and the pack's recipes.[2][3]
The vest tiers
There are five vests: Leather Utility Vest, Iron Utility Vest, Gold Utility Vest, Diamond Utility Vest and Netherite Utility Vest. You craft the leather vest at a normal crafting table. Every higher tier uses the mod's own upgrade recipe, which takes the vest from the tier below, so you climb the ladder one step at a time instead of crafting a top-tier vest from scratch.[2]

Unverified The sources don't say what changes between tiers, for example how much storage each vest has. They also don't say whether the vest's contents and filters carry over when you upgrade it.
The vest inventory
The vest has its own inventory. You open it with a dedicated keybind instead of placing anything in the world. The tooltip shows which key that is.[3]
Filters
Filters decide which items belong in the vest. Hold Sneak and press the vest's key to open the filter menu, where you set up what the vest should look for.[3]
Filters also connect to your number keys. Hold one keybind and press a number key to save a filter. Hold another keybind and press a number key to load it again. This works like a set of hotbar-style presets you can switch between quickly.[3]
Restocking
The vest's main automation is the restock key. Press it and every item in your inventory that matches your filters moves into the vest. This makes it easy to sweep things like building blocks or consumables out of your main inventory in one go.[3]
- Craft a vest and open its filter menu with Sneak plus the filter key.[2][3]
- Set the filters for the items you want the vest to hold, and save the setup to a number key if you want to reuse it.[3]
- Press the restock key to move all matching items from your inventory into the vest.[3]
- Open the vest's inventory menu with its keybind whenever you want to see or take out what's inside.[3]
Unverified The sources don't confirm how many filter presets you can save, whether the vest must be worn or can sit in your inventory to work, or whether restocking also pulls items back out of the vest.
How do you progress through Utility vest?
2 parts
The Utility Vest comes in five tiers, and they form one straight upgrade chain. You start with the Leather Utility Vest and work your way up through Iron Utility Vest, Gold Utility Vest, Diamond Utility Vest and finally Netherite Utility Vest.[2]
Getting your first vest
The Leather Utility Vest is the only tier you craft from scratch. It uses a normal shaped crafting recipe, so you can make it early in the game.[2]

Upgrading through the tiers
Every tier after leather is an upgrade recipe, not a fresh craft. Each one takes the vest from the tier below, so you can't skip a step. To get a Netherite vest, you have to go through all four earlier tiers first.[2]
- Craft a Leather Utility Vest.[2]
- Upgrade it into an Iron Utility Vest.[2]
- Upgrade the Iron vest into a Gold Utility Vest.[2]
- Upgrade the Gold vest into a Diamond Utility Vest.[2]
- Upgrade the Diamond vest into a Netherite Utility Vest.[2]

The upgrade recipes accept tagged materials, so any matching ingot or gem from other mods in the pack should work, not just the vanilla versions.[2]
Unverified The available sources don't say what each tier improves, such as extra storage or protection. They also don't say whether items stored in a vest are kept when you upgrade it. Empty your vest before upgrading if you want to be safe.
What changed in Utility vest between versions?
1 part
Utility vest has been part of All the Mods 10 since the pack's 4.0 release, where it arrived at version 1.0.2. Since then it has been updated twice, and the 5.5 release ships version 1.1.1 in the file utilityvest-1.1.1.jar.[1][4]
Release timeline
- All the Mods 10 4.0: Utility vest is added to the pack at version 1.0.2.[4]
- All the Mods 10 4.15: Utility vest is updated from 1.0.2 to 1.1.0.[5]
- All the Mods 10 5.5: Utility vest is updated from 1.1.0 to 1.1.1, the version included in this release.[1][6]
Unverified The pack changelogs only record version numbers, and no changelogs from the mod itself were available. The specific features, fixes or balance changes in these updates are therefore unverified.
