What is Utility vest?
Utility vest is included in this pack at version 1.3.0, shipped as the file utilityvest-1.3.0.jar. It has been part of the pack since version 4.0 or earlier, so it's a long-standing addition and not a recent one.[1]
Unverified I couldn't confirm what Utility vest does, who it is meant for, or where it fits in the pack's progression. The available information is limited to the pack's mod list, and there is no in-jar guidebook or platform description to draw on. I haven't confirmed any quests that involve the mod, and I haven't confirmed a place for it on the ATM Star path. I'm leaving out features, recipes and config options rather than guessing.
How do you get started with Utility vest?
3 parts
Utility Vest gives you a vest with its own inventory, and everything in this pack starts with the Leather Utility Vest. Every other vest is built on top of it, so you only craft from scratch once.[2][3]
First: craft the Leather Utility Vest
The leather vest is a normal shaped crafting recipe, and it accepts anything in the common chest and leather tags. Make this first, because it is the base for every upgrade.[2]

| any leather | any chest | any leather |

Then: upgrade it tier by tier
The other vests are not crafted from scratch. Each one is an upgrade of the vest directly below it, and the order is fixed: leather, iron, gold, diamond, then netherite. You can't skip a tier, so upgrade as your resources allow, starting with the iron vest.[2]

The results of those upgrades are the Iron Utility Vest, Gold Utility Vest, Diamond Utility Vest and Netherite Utility Vest.[2]
Finally: learn the vest controls
Once you have a vest, check its tooltip. It shows which keys do what, using whatever keybinds you have set. Here is what the tooltips say you can do:[3]
- Open the vest's inventory menu with its keybind.[3]
- Sneak and press the filter key to open the filter menu.[3]
- Use the restock key to insert items matching your filters into the vest's inventory.[3]
- Set filters with the hotbar key plus a number key, and load them with the load key plus a number key.[3]
- Hold the radial key plus a number key to open the quick-select menu.[3]
- In the vest menu, use the cycle keys to move between hotbars.[3]
How does Utility vest work?
2 parts
The Utility Vest mod gives you vests with their own inventory, plus filters that decide which items go into it. The sources cover the controls and the upgrade path, so this section is short.[2][3]
Vest tiers and upgrading
The tiers are Leather Utility Vest, Iron Utility Vest, Gold Utility Vest, Diamond Utility Vest and Netherite Utility Vest. In this pack you craft the Leather vest first, then upgrade it step by step. Each upgrade takes the previous tier's vest, so you can't skip a tier.[2]

Using the vest
The vest's tooltips show how it works in play. Each action has its own keybind. The tooltips only show a placeholder for the key, so the default keys are not shown in the sources here.[3]
- Inventory menu: press the vest's inventory key to open the vest's inventory.[3]
- Filter menu: press Sneak plus the filter key to open the filter menu.[3]
- Restock: press the restock key to insert items matching your filters into the vest's inventory.[3]
- Hotbar filters: set filters with the hotbar key plus a number key, and load them with the load key plus a number key.[3]
- Quick-select menu: hold the radial key plus a number key to open the quick-select menu.[3]
- Inside the vest menu, you can cycle between hotbars with the cycle keys. There is also an insert shortcut that moves an item into the vest inventory.[3]
How do you progress through Utility vest?
6 parts
The Utility Vest progression is a straight ladder: Leather, Iron, Gold, Diamond, Netherite. You craft the first vest from scratch, then every later tier is an upgrade of the vest before it. You can't skip a tier, because each upgrade needs the previous vest as an input.[2]
The tier order
- Start with the Leather Utility Vest. It's the only vest made with a normal shaped crafting recipe.[2]
- Upgrade it into the Iron Utility Vest.[2]
- Upgrade the Iron vest into the Gold Utility Vest.[2]
- Upgrade the Gold vest into the Diamond Utility Vest.[2]
- Finish with the Netherite Utility Vest, upgraded from the Diamond vest.[2]
Leather
The Leather vest is your entry point. Its recipe accepts any item from the common chest tag and any item from the common leather tag, so you aren't locked to one specific chest or leather source.[2]
Crafting Shaped
| any leather | Empty slot | any leather |
| any leather | any chest | any leather |
| any leather | any leather | any leather |

Iron
The Iron vest uses the mod's upgrade recipe type. It takes your Leather vest plus an item from the common iron ingot tag.[2]
Upgrade (utilityvest)
| Empty slot | any iron ingot | Empty slot |
| any iron ingot | any iron ingot | |

Gold
Gold works the same way. You upgrade the Iron vest you already have, and any item from the common gold ingot tag works.[2]
Upgrade (utilityvest)
| Empty slot | any gold ingot | Empty slot |
| any gold ingot | any gold ingot | |
| Empty slot | any gold ingot | Empty slot |

Diamond
The Diamond vest is an upgrade of the Gold vest. The material can be any item from the common diamond gem tag.[2]

Netherite
Netherite is the top tier. It's an upgrade of the Diamond vest, and the material can be any item from the common netherite ingot tag.[2]

What changed in Utility vest between versions?
Utility vest has been in All the Mods 10 since version 4.0, and it has been updated several times since. The pack changelogs only record which version of the mod each release shipped, so this section is a timeline of version bumps.[4][5]
- All the Mods 10 4.0: Utility vest 1.0.0 was added to the pack.[4]
- All the Mods 10 4.1: updated from 1.0.0 to 1.0.2.[6]

- All the Mods 10 5.5: updated from 1.1.0 to 1.1.1.[8]
- All the Mods 10 6.0: updated from 1.1.1 to 1.2.2.[9]

- All the Mods 10 7.0: updated from 1.2.6 to 1.3.0.[5]
All the Mods 10 8.1 ships Utility vest 1.3.0, the same version that 7.0 brought in, so the mod has not changed since then.[1][5]
Unverified The sources don't include the mod's own changelogs or any notes on what changed between these versions (new features, balance changes, fixes, or recipe and config changes). Check the mod's official page for those details before relying on any specific change.
